It is continuation of Marian Sodalities, which were founded by jesuit Jeana Leunis and approved by Pope Gregory XIII (Omnipotentis Dei) in 1584. The origin of the movement were the apostolic groups of lay people founded by Ignatius Loyola in 1540. During this long time of existance the community had given a few dozen saints and blessed people, took part in many apostolic mission and created the basis of many other movements. At the turn of the centuries XVIII/XIX the number of the members in Europe was aproximately 20.000 people. After Jesuit's order cassation in 1773, Marian Sodalities afflicted crisis related to loss of the source of Ignatianus sprituality. The reneval process of Sodalities was inspired by Pope's Pius XII constitution "Bis Saeculari" (1948) and II Vatican's Council. In 1968 there was formulated the new statute of the movement. It was called "General Rules of Christian Life Community". This profound transformation of the movement was manifested also in changing the name Marian Sodalities into Christian Life Community. Nowadays, CHLC is the global, public association of lay people in the Church, acting on the papal laws. Formal basis of movement's activity are mentioned above "General Rules of Christian Life Community", which were resolved on the 7th of September 1990 and ratified by See of Rome on the 3rd of December 1990.

After the settlers arrived and the plowing of the lands became more common many Indian implements, flints and signs of their presence in this area have been discovered. Some of the Typical Projectile Points found in the Town of Poland A beautiful pipe and several large spear heads were found near Kennedy by Mr. Fay Stafford of Clark's Corners. He also found an excellent flint tomahawk found in the same locality. ( information on Fay Stafford was found in the book "Jamestown Past and Present" published in 1913.) It was in 1798 that Amzi Atwater a surveyor of the Holland Land Company was on a survey of this area and reported back to Joseph Ellicott, Agent of the Company, about the beautiful forest of white pines, measuring from 5 to 6 feet in breath, also maple, birch, beech, and chestnut. Doctor Thomas Ruston Kennedy who built the first mills, was the son of Doctor Samuel Kennedy and his mother was the daughter of Doctor Ruston, an eminent surgeon of Philadelphia, PA.

Zwiazek Harcerstwa Polskiego (ZHP - The Polish Scout Association) is a Scout and Guide organization with a total membership of almost 450,000 (210,000 males, 240,000 females) operating in a country with a population of 38 million people. There are 600 districts and 25 regions in the association. ZHP, after a transformation in the early nineties, has regained the respect of Polish society. It has established relationships with State and local authorities while safeguarding its independence. ZHP has a strong tradition of forest camping, and traditional Scout activities are combined with modern ideas to reach the educational objectives of the association. ZHP has very well developed special skill activities, such as Sea Scouting, parachuting, ballooning, scuba diving. Last year the association started a program entitled "My Homelands" which offers a framework for the activities of every unit. The first part of this program concluded at the World Camp of Polish Scouting and Guiding in August 1995 which gathered six thousand Scouts and Guides including 400 from abroad. The part of the program which is being implemented now is a project called "Water is Life", focusing on developing better understanding and protection of the natural environment. ZHP is a "Scout and Guide National Organization" in accordance with the Statement on Relationships between WAGGGS and WOSM.

However, it is generally believed that Jews arrived in Poland much earlier. Many scholars discard the theory that a large number of followers of the Judaic faith came to Poland from the east in about 965 after the fall of the Khazar state. While it is true that the rulers of Khazar converted to Judaism, there is substantial disagreement amongst researchers as to whether or not their subjects converted in significant numbers. The first Jews to arrive on Polish territory were merchants who were referred to as Radhanites. The Radhanites were merchants whose trade extended over vast distances between east ans west. They were fluent in Arabic, Persian, Greek, Spanish, "Franklish" and "Slav" languages. Their entrance occurred simultaneously with the formation of the Polish state. One of them was Ibrahim ibn Jacob, the author of the first extensive account about Poland. In the summer of 965 or 966 Jacob made a trade and diplomatic journey from his native Toledo in Moslem Spain to the Holy Roman Empire and Slavonic countries. Feudal disintegration, the birth of towns and the development of commodity money relations favored the settlement by Jews in Poland. Nevertheless, the influx of Jews was brought about mostly by their persecution in Western Europe, which gained in force during the crusades. Among the first Jews to arrive in Poland (in 1097 or 1098) were those banished from Prague. Jews from Bohemia and Germany settled primarily in Silesia. They usually engaged in trade and agriculture and some owned landed estates. By the middle of the14th century they had occupied thirty-five Silesian towns. Jewish settlement in other parts of Poland proceeded at a much slower pace and the first mention of Jewish settlers in Plock dates from 1237, in Kalisz from 1287 and a Zydowska (Jewish) street in Krakow in 1304.

The Piast Dynasty Poland’s recorded history began in the 10th century when the eastward expansion of the Holy Roman Empire encountered the well organized state of Polanie, which had been developing a separate Slavic culture for about 200 years. In a marriage of state to the Bohemian princess Dobrawa in 966 Prince Mieszko accepted Christianity for his state and brought it into the sphere of Western civilization. Missionaries who arrived to christianize the people codified the Polish language into a written form. An archdiocese was founded in Gniezno and it soon became the burial place of Poland’s first saint and martyr, Brother Adalbert (St. Wojciech), who was murdered by the pagans. In 1025 Boleslaw the Brave, son of Mieszko, was crowned king of Poland by the Pope, and the country had achieved official status among the Medieval European states. Succeeding Polish monarchs continued the difficult task of maintaining national unity and fighting off invaders. To relieve some of the pressure, a regional prince, Konrad of Mazovia, invited the Teutonic Knights, a German Crusading Order, to subdue the pagan tribes of north-eastern Poland. By 1288 the Order had conquered and established itself permanently in the area, becoming a major power.

John III Sobieski defended Vienna against the Turks in 1683 and saved Western Europe from a Turkish invasion. Prussia, Russia, and Austria all annexed parts of Poland in 1772. A small Polish state was left at the mercy of its enemies. In 1793 Poland was further partitioned among the three powers. The patriot Thaddeus Kosciusko led a peasant army in a national insurrection against the Russians. In 1795 Poland's last remaining territory was occupied by the three partitioning powers. Many Poles fled the country. In 1807 Napoleon supported the formation of a small and weak Polish state, but after Napoleon's defeat by Russia the Russians returned.

The Coronation of Boleslaw Chrobry (the Brave) As the first king of Poland, in 1024, established Poland's right as an independent kingdom. This was the start of 150 years of dynastic struggle, in which the Church played a vital role in maintaining some semblance of national unity. In 1226, Duke Konrad of Mazovia invited the Teutonic Order to combat pagan Prussian tribes from the base a Chelmno, thereby introducing a much more formidable enemy on the crucial Baltic coast. In time the Order turned on the Poles and began to grab large chunks of Polish territory, finally invading Gdansk in 1308 and massacring its Polish inhabitants. At the same time, a steady influx of German colonists helped to consolidate the Order's wealth and power.
