Student questions and needs are diverse and so are the services. The staff strives to provide the best possible service regardless of career interests or college major. The Center's philosophy is to support students in their decisions. Staff will assist students as much as possible through career counseling, workshops and support services that have been designed to work to their advantage. The bottom line; however, is that the responsibility for making decisions, planning, securing employment, gaining admission to graduate school or otherwise planning for life after graduation rests with the student. Students are invited to visit the Career Library, use computers available for resumes and cover letters, schedule time for DISCOVER (a computer-based career guidance system), or register to receive job vacancy listings. On another day, three young activists associated with ASATA (Alliance of South Asians Taking Action) spoke to the youth about their work in fighting hate crimes in the post September 11 environment. A group of Gypsy/Indian dancers and singers taught the youth about energizing day to day life with music and graceful dance movements. An afternoon mentoring session They got to show off their talents on the last day to parents, volunteers and guests. It was amazing to see how involved the teams were in the planning and execution of each project. Then there were some astounding role models, mentoring the youth each afternoon and reinforcing the spirit of caring and sharing, and instilling a sense of pride in Indian culture.

Overall, 97.2 percent of the respondents said they have lunch with co-workers at least a few times a year. Nearly half, 49.3 percent, said they lunch with colleagues at least once a week. When asked how often they meet co-workers for happy hour, 47 percent said a few times per year. Just over 23 percent said they attend the after-work social function a few times per month, 24.2 percent said they never meet co-workers after work. The number who attended a few times a week was 5 percent.
