Over time, some of the issues have changed - some havent - but the underlying theme has remained the same: to get business and government working together to improve the business climate and the quality of life in Pennsylvania. The following policy statements represent the Roundtables 1999 recommendations for a stronger business climate in the Commonwealth. They range from critical changes in our basic education system to further changes in the states tax structure. Roundtable members endorse these recommendations realizing that Governor Ridge and state lawmakers have already made significant progress on a campaign to lower taxes, reduce regulations, and improve public education. The Roundtable believes the following policies can be accomplished without greater cost, or risk to the quality of life in Pennsylvania. Indeed, the recommendations are designed to lower business and individual costs, yet all the while increase the standard of living in this state. Working together, business and government can form a partnership that not only improves the health of its citizens and the economy of the state, but makes it more competitive in the international market as well.
