Extractions: It's Spring, finally. It is truly wondrous to watch the world come alive again. We are very busy here at the Garden House. Our whole family has volunteered to help and participate in the Shapatu Of Ishtar , Hands of Change Coven's first camping festival. It's not a 'typical' festival, either. The big feature is a weekend-long ritual drama about the goddess Ishtar (Inanna) and her marriage to Tammuz (Dumuzi). We are all acting in the play and helping with other aspects of the festival. It's going to be fabulous. I hope to see all of you there. One thing we have come to realize is how much work actually goes into putting on one of these festivals. Many festival organizers put in hours and hours of effort for no financial compensation at all. Doing this project this past winter has been highly educational for us all, and we have even more respect for the folks that give so much of themselves to the community.

("Leave the keyboard alone, Scott. Julie, put your gum back in your mouth. Erik, sit still while the photographer takes our picture.") As anyone who has tried to run a business from home can tell you, there is a downside to having both a family and a home-based business. Most people find it's a constant struggle to try to balance the needs of the family with the needs of the business.
