Generally, one school board member is elected for a five-year term during each school election, held annually. Multiple elections may occur when a position is vacated during an un-expired term. In the event of such occurrence, an individual is appointed by the Board and serves until the next election. Members of the Board of Education are elected representatives; however, they serve without financial compensation for their service to the community and school district. Chuck Boss, Zone 1, was elected to the Board of Education in 2001. Mr. Boss is a graduate of Muskogee High School and a graduate of Radiologic Technology School at Sparks Regional Medical Center. He is a Board Certified Radiologic Technologist and Board Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Mr. Boss is employed at McAlester Regional Health Center and is the Director of Support and Professional Services. He is a member of Bacon College Advisory Committee Radiologic Technology Program. He and his wife, Susie, have five daughters and are members of the Trinity Episcopal Church

The present high school campus was opened in 1967. Following the passage of a School Bond election in Dec, 2000, the construction of additional classrooms on the high school campus began as well as the construction of a new elementary school located west of the city for students attending grades K-5. Eufaula Public School District encompasses 139 square miles and is located twenty-five miles north of McAlester, OK, on Lake Eufaula. One-third of the district's area is under water. Lake Eufaula's shoreline is the longest of any man-made lake in the nation. The district includes one high school site for students in grades 9-12, one middle school site for grades 6-8, one elementary school for students in grades K-5, and one Alternative Education Center. All schools are accredited by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. The district employs 97 certified teachers, administrators and support personnel. Eufaula teachers average 17 years of experience and hold over 34 advanced degrees.

The Center is housed on the Shaping People of Today (S.P.O.T.) 20-acre campus in Oklahoma City. It will provide parent information and general age-appropriate materials statewide, and begin training, support and referrals for wrap-around services in rural and urban areas of Oklahoma County. The Center on the S.P.O.T. campus houses a Parent Resource Library and hosts training programs and parent support groups. Volunteer-staffed Branch Parent Resource Centers are being established in the 16 highest need areas of the state. The Center has several components to increase parents' knowledge of and confidence in child rearing activities, strengthen parent- professional partnerships, and enhance the developmental progress of children: Information Dissemination The Center is establishing a multi-media, multi-lingual Parent Resource Library that includes information and resources to promote effective parenting techniques and discipline strategies, child development, learning aids, current listings of youth and adult service providers, community programs, event listings, and brochures. It will also deliver interactive programs via satellite throughout the state. The Center plans to develop a traveling multi-media mobile Parent Education/Training On Wheels unit to disseminate information to isolated families.
