Product Description

This laugh-out-loud children's book is aligned with the Standard Course of Study for elementary school language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. It's an exciting story that teaches and references second through fifth grade skills, and even though it's 100% correlated to the third grade North Carolina curriculum, it's designed for elementary school readers in all states!

This breakthrough educational book tells the story of a struggling third-grader (Chris Robb) who desperately wants to pass the third grade End of Grade (EOG) standardized test. Chris's school is a very strange place and his teacher has the strangest name he has ever heard: Ms. Bubblebrain. Every character in the book has a unique personality trait. Smelly Sam stuffs random objects up his nose (sushi, socks, etc), the bus driver waves around his stinky shoe to get the kids to settle down, and the principal harbors an incomprehensible infatuation with strawberry milk. Meanwhile, a menacing Chicken Nugget Man appears to be sneaking into schools and causing all kinds of chaos. A task force is created to capture this mysterious creature. The country's smartest children will be chosen to join the effort because for some reason, no adult has ever seen the Chicken Nugget Man. Chris, who can barely remember his teacher's name, has the odds stacked against him when it comes to passing the North Carolina EOG test, but as the reader discovers, he might have a little help, and a little hope, after all.

The book has built-in Bloom's Taxonomy higher-order critical thinking questions that are written in kid-friendly language. A strong emphasis is placed on character education in the book and every time a character makes a poor choice, the narrator reminds readers of the consequences, encouraging them to suggest more responsible choices.

This delightful comedy makes learning fun and helps students in all states prepare for standardized tests.

Key educational features in the book:
NEW! Silly fill in the bubble questions at the end of most chapters to prepare students for standardized tests in a fun way!
Built-in comprehension questions

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This is such a surprising book.I got a copy for my kids (ages 6 & 7) not as much for the educational value, but the entertainment value. The title drew their attention (what kid doesn't love chicken nuggets?), and it has good illustrations that draws them into the pages.I thought it would be a little advanced for the 6 year-old (and it probably is), but I thought that having it laying around would have him looking at it and trying to figure some of it out.

Short story now is that my two kids are fighting over who gets the book, and how long the other one has had it.They've each made their own bookmarks and are sharing the book (sharing might be stretching the truth a bit - I'm a referee). It's great to have a book like this around.Very happy with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars My 8 year old loved this book
My 8 year old son could not stop reading this book. Here are some comments from him, "Attack of the Chicken Nugget Man is amazing! The characters are extremely weird and funny. There is one kid who sticks things up his nose so he can see how they smell.Another kid keeps all his food in his desk so he forgets about it and he always has moldy food in his desk.My favorite character is the teacher, Ms. Bubblebrain. The main character, Chris can never get her name right. When she is mad, she yells the names of extremely disgusting food.I think it's hilarious. There is one last character that is mainly important in the very end.He plays a big role and it is very surprising.

The story is very funny and odd.It is amazing how well the characters fit into the plot. The story has many twists and turns. Some of them are more like ditches. But don't let the ditches discourage you from reading this book, because it all works out in the end.

I know I am learning a lot but I can't even tell because it is incorporated into the story so well. There are a lot of little lessons that they are teaching you.It reminds me of what my teacher does when she reads us a book out loud. For example, they keep telling you to re-read if you forget something from earlier in the book.My teacher tells my class to do that as well. The suggestions in the book are really cool and helpful.Attack of the Chicken Nugget Man is a truly amazing book."

4-0 out of 5 stars EOG Entertainment
I purchased the book for my 3rd grade class to be read as a read-a-loud. They can't wait to hear what happens next. The story is age-appropriate--filled with lots of gross and disgusting events that crack them up!The built-in questions for review, prediction, inference, etc... are fabulous.I like too, the "extras" that touch on other curriculum areas.Next year, I'll begin reading it earlier in the year.

5-0 out of 5 stars I bought this for my nephew and he can't stop reading it!
I used to teach third graders and know that you rarely get a book that is both interesting/age appropriate AND a great learning resource. My nephew noticed this disparity in most children's lit as well, and before this book it was always a challenge to get him to read.I bought this for him and the day he got it he finished it... TWICE!It has quickly become his favorite book.I ask him comprehension questions about the characters, his favorite parts, etc and he actually jumps around the room with excitement while telling me.For a kid that was reluctant to even glance at a book (as well as an aunt that was worried she might have a non-reader on her hands), _Attack of the Chicken Nugget Man_ is the perfect answer!

5-0 out of 5 stars Even 4th graders in North Carolina LOVE Chicken Nugget Man!
Although this book is recommended for third graders getting ready to take the EOG (End of Grade) test in North Carolina, I found that my fourth graders really enjoyed it!The comprehension skills and strategies are so well included that the students didn't realize we were reviewing things that they had learned during the year! They loved the pictures, which I intend to enlarge next year; eventhough the picture took up the entire page, the book itself is on the small side. I am also considering copying the pictures on transparencies and showing them on our overhead as I read the story aloud.I found that reading it aloud to the entire class was very effective and enabled us to have a whole class review session before the big tests! What a great idea!I would recommend this to BOTH 3rd and 4th graders in North Carolina for a fun way to review language arts skills. ... Product Description
This edition is written in English. However, there is a running Hungarian thesaurus at the bottom of each page for the more difficult English words highlighted in the text. There are many editions of School History of North Carolina (From 1584 to the Present Time. This edition would be useful if you would like to enrich your Hungarian-English vocabulary, whether for self-improvement or for preparation in advanced of college examinations. Webster's edition of this classic is organized to expose the reader to a maximum number of difficult and potentially ambiguous English words. Rare or idiosyncratic words and expressions are given lower priority compared to "difficult, yet commonly used" English words. Rather than supply a single translation, many words are translated for a variety of meanings in Hungarian, allowing readers to better grasp the ambiguity of English without using the notes as a pure translation crutch. Having the reader decipher a word's meaning within context serves to improve vocabulary retention and understanding. Each page covers words not already highlighted on previous pages. This edition is helpful to Hungarian-speaking students enrolled in an English Language Program (ELP), an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program, an English as a Second Language Program (ESL), or in a TOEFL® or TOEIC® preparation program. Students who are actively building their vocabularies in Hungarian or English may also find this useful for Advanced Placement® (AP®) tests. TOEFL®, TOEIC®, AP® and Advanced Placement® are trademarks of the Educational Testing Service which has neither reviewed nor endorsed this book. This book is one of a series of Webster's paperbacks that allows the reader to obtain more value from the experience of reading. Translations are from Webster's Online Dictionary, derived from a meta-analysis of public sources, cited on the site. ... Read more
