US 49W provides a fairly direct link between Yazoo City and Belzoni. The old highway segment has been renamed MS 149. Adventures off the beaten path
This is a very good read for anyone interested in the area. Dean Klinkenberg gives a detailed and thorough review of Mississippi River Valley area suitable for the tourist from either coast or the local tourist. He covers the places to play, stay and eat and see with the outlook of someone who really loves and enjoys the region. This book offers the reader the chance to get off the beaten path and away from the franchised establishments.
