It's a Miracle! I Can See.
I am a Medical Coding and Billing Specialist. I thought I either needed a new glasses RX or larger print in my medical dictionary, that is necessary for me to use everyday. Well I got both.
This large print issue has changed my working life amazingly and I do not even have the new glasses yet. this copy was used like new and I cannot see any use what so ever.
It is in perfect condition. I have now decided to buy my yearly new editions of ICD-9-CM and CPT text through Amazon.com.

Great for health care providers
I purchased this book as a just have to know the many things i need to know working in the field health care an i think it's worth it.

Worth the price!
I love this dictionary..When i started nursing school, people told me that I probably would not need it because everything is online now. However, I still got this dictionary and it has not let me down. I use it very often for Pharmacology and Pathophysiology..alot of medical terminology that may not have accurate meanings online can be found with authentic definitions in this dictionary. There are 100s and 100s of pictures..I would recommend ONLY this medical dictionary to anyone looking for one..There was only ONE time where the dictionary did not have a word I was looking for, but other than it was good.

Never recieved item!
The seller never sent me the item.I contacted her 2 times and she never responded.Then I placed a claim with Amazon and while it was processing I contacted her 1 more time telling her it was illegal to take someones money and not send the product.It wasn't until that e-mail she responded to tell me it was lost in the mail.She could have told me that from the begining and refunded my money but she didn't.And it was a school book, (for college) and I was 4 weeks into class before a response.Terrible Customer service!!!!!

  mosby's dictionary
  it's been very helpful, i'm taking medical coding and there are things i did not know so i looked it up and was very helpful. i will continue using it.

  Great Resource for a Beginning Student
  I'm taking my first anatomy and physiology course.Mosby's has been a fantastic resource when the book uses terms I don't understand or I need a better definition beyond what the textbook provides.The pictures are also very helpful in understanding concepts or being able to see what a condition actually looks like.I highly recommend it for new students and I suspect I'll continue to use it in a number of future courses as well.

  This dictionary has come in handy for doing homework in my Pathophysiology class. Reasonable price since it has covered some topics that were not in my textbook, lectures, or searching online.

  Just a couple things missing
  As a medical coder, I'm looking for a medical reference that will give me definitions of anything medical. This is a great reference and it has already proven very helpful. Only a few things missing, in my opinion: 1)I wish this "dictionary" had cut-out tabs for quick and easy location, 2)it needs an appendix of word parts (prefix, suffix, etc.).

Dorland 31st Edition Review
I order Dorland'sMedical dictionary 31st Ed. on 2/16/10 and it arrived on the 20th.Three days before the 1st arrival date given by the seller (rkells25).The book was in excellent condition as the seller stated.Still in its plastic.The code and cd were still in tack.It is hardcover which makes the continous handling easier and longevity on the book. I love this book.The words are in red and the definitions are in black.The words really stands out.The color pictures look so real its as if you are looking at the real injury. I give the seller 5 stars for his/her quick and efficent service.

Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary, 30th Ed.

Dear Sir or Madam:I am pleased with the content, clarity and illustrations inthe Dorland's Med Dictionary.

However, when I received it in the torn, dirty, padded envelope I was disheartened.The corners of the book were damaged and the book had come three-fourths of the way through the one end of the package.The package looked as though it had been thrown and could not withstand the impact of the rough handling in shipping. The book was too heavy for the mailer.This 6-pound volume should have been shipped in a hard cover - box.

I really needed the book, due to beginning medical classes, so did not return the same.

Dorlands Illustrated Medical Dictionary with CD-ROM
I own the smaller portable Dorland's dictionary, but this hard bound version is phenomenal.The illustrations are detailed and extremely helpful.Gave this to my daughter for Christmas, as she earned her medical transcription certificate and will use this as a reference tool.Delivered as promised, in excellent condition with a CD-ROM as well.

How to install 31st Ed. spell check for Word 2007...
The walk through included in the CD main menu did not work for Word 2007, so I got instructions from their tech help.

The following instructions will allow you to install the spell-check specifically for Word 2007.

Insert the 31st edition disc into the drive.If it "autostarts" into a program, cancel that program and close it.

Next, open the program called "My Computer" (or "Computer" if you have Vista/Windows 7) It will either be on your desktop or on the Start menu.

RIGHT-click on the cd-rom or dvd-rom drive that has the disc in it.A pop-up menu will offer you a choice of EXPLORE.Select that option.

On the resulting list of files and folders, double-click on the folder called "spellex". Do the same thing on the folder labeled, "pc".Now, find and open the folder called "2k7".

Within that folder you will find a file labeled, "Setup.exe" (it may be identified as a "launcher" or "application").Run that file. This will begin the installation.

Complete the installation and then restart your system.When you re-enter Windows, the spell-checker should work correctly within MS Word at that time.

A Word document icon should appear on your desk top; this is a document that will allow you to test the speller. ... Read more

Good buy
I needed a hard copy medical dictionary to go with an online course. Since new books are expensive, bought this used copy. It is in perfect condition and arrived very quickly. The new ones come with software but this one did have it. Would have been nice to know in advance of purchase, although would probably purchased anyway.

Review of Stedmans's medical dictionary
I am a nursing student at the University of Michigan and have found this book very helpful! Great definitions, pictures, tables and all kind of charts. Very useful for any health student!

Disappointed !
I got a Stedman's Dictionary with a class I'm taking and found it to be disappointing if you're just beginning to learn new terms. The definitions are longwinded and often abtuse. I didn't feel a flow of jumping from word to word and understanding what I'm reading without having to consult an online dictionary. This dictionary got me frustrated after looking up a few words.
I'm looking into purchasing a Mosby's since that seems to be the one online with the clearest, most concise definitions. I'll see how that turns out. The only advantage of Stedman's Medical Dictionary that I can tell is that it has about 100,000 terms in it, about double the Mosby's, so I would keep it around for once you're at an advanced level of learning.

Great Dictionary for its size
This English-Spanish/Espanol a Ingles Medical dictionary is very complete for its size. I highly recommend it due to its ease of portability and its completeness.

Basic but complete medical dictionary
I bought this book because I used to get it from the local library whenever I needed to do a medical interpretation. I finally decided to order it from Amazon so I don't have to head to the library whenever I get an interpretation assignment. This is a pocket-size book, but it has a wealth of terms that you can actually use if you're an English-Spanish interpreter, translator, a health professional or student, practicing or studying in the U.S., whose first language is Spanish, or an English-speaking health professional who sees Spanish-speaking patients. It is very handy whenever I come across a term that doesn't come to mind immediately or that I need to double-check.

A 6++ star dictionary!!!!
I have been teaching Medical Spanish and Cultural Competency CME courses for over 20 years and cannot praise Glenn T Rogers, MD's English -Spanish/Spanish-English Medical Dictionary enough.
It is an excellent resource and the best Medical Spanish dictionary I have found throughout my entire teaching career, which is why I highly recommend it to anyone in the Health Care profession as well as to all Medical Spanish Instructors.
This third edition is extremely comprehensive and covers nearly every term my students have looked up in class, as well as those that I've always wanted to know.It is also most impressive in that Dr. Rogers includes many diverse and varied translations based on region and country, which affords one the opportunity to know which word or phrase to use depending on where ones' patient is from.
This dictionary entailed a great deal of research and is extremely accurate, not to mention thoroughly outstanding!
*An extra added bonus is the Code Status Discussion translation on the last page of the book, which many of my class participants point out is exceedingly beneficial.
Once again, I highly recommend it.

Unhappy with product
Do not get me wrong, I enjoy the book. However, you are to get a code with the book to have an account on Dorlands website. Well, the book never had a code. It states on their website the code is on the inside front cover or first page. I didn't get one. I contacted Dorland and never got a response which irritates me all the more. I even sent them a copy of my receipt. Dorland's website said if there is no code then you cannot have access to their website. Also, they stated you have to get the code from the place you purchased the material from. I very much doubt Amazon has the code as I bought this brand new from Amazon. I am discusted with the whole issue. I don't think a buyer should have to go through all the red tape for the code although it would be nice to access Dorland's website. Also the CD-ROM that goes with the book does not work on any type of word program as it states. It is practically worthless. I tried everything I could to get it to work in my Office 97 and earlier years and it won't work. Good Luck!

Pretty nice.
I love that it is small enough to carry around with me but it only had half of the words that were needed for my class in med school.

Great Dictionary
This soft covered pocket dictionary will be great to take anywhere with me, but still packs an amazing amount of information and extra tidbits. The photos and other references are also extremely handy. So, far I haven't felt the need to pick up another medical dictionary yet. I also appreciated the bonus medical spell checker software for MS Word!

My Little Medical Bible
As a Radiologic Technologist student, I purchased this book to use in my clinicals when I need to find a quick medical definition or proper spelling. Its small enough to fit nicely in my backpack without taking up too much space. Even though its called a pocket dictionary it's too big to fit in anyone's pocket (5.5 X 7 and about 1.5 inches thick). Each listing has the proper pronunciation, definition, synonym, abbreviation, and any cross-references. It has more medical terms than any other book I have found in its size. It won't take the place of Mosby's Dictionary, but when I'm away from my home its perfect. In the back of the book are about twenty pages of color pictures of different human anatomy with each part labeled. Library book
The book looks okay but it was a library book. It had stamps when the book was checked out it still had the pocket for the slips. That would have not matered to me, but they should have let use know it was a library book.

truth in advertising ...
I have to admit this was an impulse purchase - therefore i was sorry to experience first hand the time honored adage "don't judge a book by its cover" or in this case, cover photo ... so much for surfing the net at 2 a.m. If truth be told, this is a very adequate little book, but it's ... tiny. If you are over 40 you'll need at least a +5 pair of reading glasses, and if you're a grown man turning the tiny pages can be frustrating.

The good - useful medical spanish-english terms, portable

The bad - teeny tiny, the font size is about 6, and the pages are thin and stick together

The ugly - overpriced for what you get, as the little old lady used to ask, "where's the beef?"

I was too astonished by my poor judgment to return the book, and have lost it in my desk drawer at work. Besides, my medical Spanish-English app on my phone is more handy and user friendly.

Fits in the palm of my hand
I love how compact this dictionary is and how easy it is to carry around.It's loaded with definitions and tons of health related terms.Most importantly, I don't feel like I've sacrificed quality for size.It also contains 14 pages of human anatomy illustrations and 1 page of useful questions for interviewing patients. If you interact with Spanish speaking patients, this is an amazing reference book you shouldn't hesitate to buy.

Limited to Medical Spanish ONLY
BEFORE YOU BUY IT, realize that this book contains medical spanish ONLY. I purchased this little book for my month-long rotation in Peru as a medical student. It is a very extensive collection of spanish/english medical terms, BUT it does not contain any other words in spanish you might want to know! It contains very few verbs. This was frustrating to me and I found myself more often using my "general" spanish/english dictionary instead. I recommend this book only if you already speak spanish fairly well and simply need to expand your medical vocabulary, or if you are planning to supplement it with another "general" spanish/english dictionary.

Great dictionary, very useful size
I've been hunting down products to help me with medical Spanish in my career, and this one is by far the most useful on a daily basis.The size is perfect--it seems to be a very thorough, inclusive dictionary but is still a great size to stick in my pocket.I actually keep it in my purse to study when I'm waiting in lines.It also has several body outlines with names labeled in both English and Spanish.Overall, great product!

very poor performance
This is not a bad encyclopedia, it isn't an encyclopedia at all but a huge assembly of irrelevant items. And it doesn't really work on the kindle. Every now and then the kindle runs aground and has to be restarted. I recommend to take this item out of the shop.

disappointing
I am unable to navigate this book.It was very difficult to download, several attempts before I just gave up and downloaded through my computer and just skipped the whispernet.As a private duty home care nurse, I was really looking forward to having a very portable ready reference.Maybe I'm missing something, but this is unusable.

On a Kindle this is a great resource, no question.But on your computer the color images make this book visually very appealing and inviting to use. Even fun. I am most pleased!

Not a huge fan.I have nothing to compare this with, as this is the only medical dictionary that I have on hand.However, many of the terms' definitions require further searching for a clear explanation.I found myself going to reliable websites more than half of the time just to clarify something.

Pleasantly surprised and satisfied
This was a required book per my book list provided from school but once in class we were told it was just for reference and would not use in class. I was almost disappionted until I actually browsed through it.I currently work in the healthcare field and could have used this reference dictionary a long time ago to better help me understand things beyond my knowledge. I am very happy I purchased this book and love it.Amazon delievered in a very timely manner and in perfect condition. Would suggest this dictionary to any healthcare professional.

Pocket Dictionary
This dictionary goes along nicely with the book and is great for dragging along to school due to it's smaller size.However, the CD that comes with the book goes along better with the chapters and is a valuable resource.So, all in all, it's great for traveling around with, but if you're at home with a PC or have a laptop, I'd recommend just using the CD and online medical dictionaries instead of spending the money for this.

I'm completing my studies in nursing and had this dictionary for the majority of my studies.It's very concise and simple to understand, however not quite "pocket" size.In any case I never leave home without it...even my tutors love using it.Would recommend to any nursing student a must have investment from student to RN and beyond!
