From the supplier: Sine big city dailies have taken an idea from the alternative press by starting alternative weeklies of their own. The independent papers deride these efforts, claiming that they eschew the press criticism and investigative reporting which the independents consider the purpose of their weeklies. They have also barred employees of weeklies published by big city dailies from joining the independent-founded Assn of Alternative Newsweeklies.

From the supplier: The periodical Her New York folded because of the financial difficulties of the owner and publisher Steven Hoffenberg. Hoffenberg began the project as a challenge to the New York Daily News and the Post. He did not have a sense of direction or the finances for publishing a daily. Despite his first editor Marcia Cohen's suggestion that they should aim for a weekly, he insisted on a daily. Three weeks into publication it was turned into a weekly and it finally closed down on Feb 7, 1994. The periodical had six editors in five months.
