2-0 out of 5 stars just spend the money on stamps
First of all I think the first person to comment must be the author because this book is so not worth it. I only purchased this book for knowledge, I work for the post office. This book was written yrs ago and the things that apply to it don't really work so well today. The whole book could have been summed up with "just reuse a stamp if you can" sure you can get away with it here and there. In one instance the author tells you to place tape over stamp to hold in place. Well I've been working for the post office for 12yrs and have never seen a stamp with tape over it make it through. Nor have I ever seen half a stamp get through the system. There are loopholes but this author obviously is oblivious to them. If you want to save money don't buy this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Relief from the oppressive hell of periodic 3-cent rate hikes
Too cheap to pay 37 cents to mail a letter? You're not the only one, brother. Mr. Unzip (get it? Because he's *screwing* the post office, which uses *ZIP* codes?) will tell you how to spend more than 37 cents worth of your time to save 37 cents. A fun and informative read. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Buy Another Book
Don't waste your time and money buying this book.It is seriously out of date. Many of the companies listed have moved or gone out of business. She has tear-out postcards for mailing to list distributors or consumer databases.I had to double check every address on the internet, and many had changed. The best internet source for up-to-date business addresses seems to be the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

I thought this book would tell you the inner workings of the consumer mailing list industry, but all she says is that there are 50,000 different mailing lists out there, and you can get off of some of them by sending out the postcards attached in the book.

Buy another book instead of this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Less Junk Mail in a Flash
The information and postcards in Junk Mail Solution work wonders. My mother was on every mailing list imaginable. Thanks to Junk Mail Solution, she now receives almost none. And stopping the junk mail was so easy! I'd recommend the book to anyone who wants to reduce the time spent each day sorting through mail. And you'll save a tree as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Halting Solicitations
Junk Mail Solution explains how we wind up on so many solicitation lists and shows how to get off those rolls. The greatest value of this book is in the signs and pre-addressed post cards. There are signs to place near the telephones to remind you to utter the nine magic words. And there are cards to mail to the 26 list maintenance companies and list associations.

Of course, if you are a direct mailer or telemarketer, you may learn to breach some of these defenses. :)

Jackie Plusch is a professional organizer. She established the Clutter Cutter, a service to help individuals and groups manage space, time and materials. She soon discovered her clients were wasting hours handling unwanted mail and telephone calls.

As a publisher, author of 113 books (including revisions and foreign-language editions) and over 500 magazine articles, I like books that provide solutions without wasting my time with padding. ..... ... Read more

Product Description
Investigative reporter and biographer Cecil Bothwell sums up the criminal career of former Sheriff Bobby Lee Medford in a behind-the-headlines exposé. Based on two decades as a print reporter and editor in Buncombe County, Bothwell’s latest book fills in the gaps between the newspaper and TV stories, widely circulated rumors and, finally, the testimony and evidence presented in a federal court room. Released just one month after Medford began a fifteen year prison term for conspiracy, extortion, money laundering, mail fraud and illegal gambling, Bothwell discusses those crimes as well as others for which no indictment has yet been issued. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read of true-life extortion, money laundering, & official fraud!
Pure Bunkum offers a fascinating look at both the corruption of a powerful public official and the work of an investigative reporter who helped to topple the fiefdom.

Cecil Bothwell tells the tale from his perspective as an editor and reporter who received an anonymous tip about a girl whisked to a state mental hospital after she was allegedly beaten by the sheriff's son. The cover-up that ensued became a thread that eventually unravelled a much bigger story of extortion, money laundering, mail fraud, illegal gambling and the disappearance of hundreds of thousands of dollars, weapons and drugs from the county evidence locker.

The author pursued the story through the sheriff's eventual arrest and trial in Federal court and offers a streamlined and highly readable narrative of the court proceedings which he attended gavel-to-gavel. The book makes it clear why we need a strong and independent press as a watchdog on public officials and makes the current sad state of the news industry seem sadder still.

Highly recommended,a great read! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wanted to say thanks.
My mother worked for Golden Age Home Care and was one of the victims of John and Martha's greed.Unfortunately, although they are in prison and their assets liquidated, my mother hasn't received anything as far as compensation goes, but it's nice that someone wrote a book about the situation.

1-0 out of 5 stars Just like book fraud by Alphascript

Wikipedia is a great encyclopedic reference. So great in fact that instead of finding authors like a real publisher would, the German print-on-demand publisher VDM simply copies text found on Wikipedia and tries to sell it on Amazon. Amazingly, they have the chutzpah to admit as much:

Q:...do all of Alphascript's books take their content from Wikipedia?
Alphascript:Yes, since we believe that the quality of the Wikipedia-articles is so good that it is worthwhile creating books with them.

!!

Why not profit from deceptive business practices? Because it's fraud.
