Extractions: Video analysis is a state of the art testing that will visualize the injury your patient's have in workers and personal injury cases. The testing can be done in your office or on the job site using a standard 8mm video camera. By identifying critical risk factors associated with trauma disorders and back injuries you can identify the whole picture of an injury. This ergonomic and biomechanical video lift system assists the doctor in conducting office and job site evaluations. Testing calculates joint angles and back compression forces for all frames. Testing offers a variety of standard color reports that include biomechanical lift overview, joint percent capability graphs, lower back compression graph, NIOSH lift task analysis, range of motion/posture analysis, functional capacity assessments, work hardening, establishes work place performance criteria and job placement screening. Range of motion information is scored against range of motion guidelines in the AMA guide. Hazardous movements and positions which contribute to trauma disorders are identified and used to reduce the risk by modifying return to work status following a motor vehicle or workers compensation injury. It allows you to measure the complete range of motion of the spine using a static and dynamic model.

Extractions: Why is killing a witness so effective? The lead witness (played by Miguel Ferrer) against the defendant (his former partner and Catherine Zeta-Jones' husband), is killed just before he testifies. The federal prosecutor then announces to the court that the case is dropped. Could this really happen? Why couldn't the prosecutor get someone else like Monty (played by Don Cheadle) to testify about what Ferrer told him? If the case was basically Ferrer's word against the defendant's, the case is indeed dead (though the government probably would hold out a bit longer before conceding). No matter what Ferrer told Monty and other federal agents, none of that is admissible in court without Ferrer himself.

There is a growing trend in contemporary Islamic legal studies to demonstrate that Islamic law was never stagnant in development nor rigid in application and that, in particular, the use of fatwa literature bears witness to the fluidity and growth in substantive law, in legal discourse in general, and the dynamic relationship between law and society within Muslim civilizations. Judith Tucker has written one such book with a focus primarily on the roles of women in the urban settings of Ottoman Syria and Palestine during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Using primary legal sources including a range of fatwas by prominent jurists, as well as the shari'a records of three Islamic courts, namely Damascus, Jerusalem, and Nablus, Tucker examines the way society and the court system tried to understand and contextualize the different roles that women played as wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters. She looks at how actively engaged the Muslim jurists were in their discussion of the issues pertaining to womens' rights and their efforts to curtail the male coercion of the female. This volume sets out major areas in the field: interest-based problem solving theory and skills, negotiation, neutral evaluation and expert fact-finding, mediation, and arbitration. A detailed discussion of mediation comprises half the book. Unobtrusive footnotes and a working bibliography provide resources for more detailed exploration. Strangers to the land of ADR and experienced travelers, whether advocate or neutral, will find this book a useful guide. The authors draw useful examples from industry, commerce, employment, divorce, construction, and personal injury. Well-developed characteristics of particular subject matter such as employment, divorce (which merits its own chapter), and personal injury receive extensive treatment. In particular, the divorce materials provide additional appendices and checklists. The book lacks an index, an omission that is somewhat offset by a detailed table of contents.

Other contacts In Brisbane If you are appearing before the Land and Resources Tribunal in Brisbane without a lawyer, there are some things you should know. For instance:- Where do I sit When you enter the hearing room through the public access doors, you move to the bar table (that is the table where you speak to the Tribunal from), which is in front of the public seating area facing the bench. Seat yourself on the right side if you are the applicant or on the left if you are the respondent. Dont proceed beyond this table, unless instructed to by a Member of the Tribunal or by the bailiff (an officer of the Tribunal who assists the Members in hearings). Filling in the appearance slip The bailiff will ask you for a completed appearance slip. Blank copies are located outside the hearing room or on the bar table. They tell the Tribunal who is appearing and whether that person is a lawyer, agent or one of the parties. How does the proceeding start When the Tribunal opens, the bailiff will ask everyone in the hearing room to stand as the Member/s take their place at the bench. You will then be given a direction to be seated. The same applies when the Tribunal adjourns, or closes for the day.

Extractions: AN AWARENESS ARTICLE FOR THE PRIVATE SECTOR by Jeff Jinnett A serious computer problem, variously known as the "Year 2000," "Y2K," "Century Date Change" or "Millennium Bug" problem, faces many companies. This article is intended to provide a summary discussion of some of the major legal issues which may arise due to the Year 2000 problem and is written with non-lawyers as well as lawyers in mind. http://www.iee.org.uk/2000risk " and M. Frautschi, "Embedded Systems and the Year 2000 Problem (the OTHER Year 2000 Problem), " located at http://www.tmn.com/~frautsch/y2k2.html "). As an example of the type of incorrect calculation which can be produced due to this problem, when a computer sorts dates by year, "00" (for the year 2000) could be identified as an earlier date than "99" (for the year 1999). A financial spreadsheet or projection therefore might show the financial trend for the 1999-2000 period running backwards rather than forwards. Insurance company computers might report a policy running through the year 2001 as having instead expired in 1901. A non-compliant bank computer calculating interest for a financial instrument for the six year period of 1995 through the year 2000 might instead calculate the interest for the period of 1900 through 1995, for a ninety-six year period instead of a six year period. Law Clinics & Lawyering Skills Program faculty supervision in the area of domestic violence law. These cases present complexissues for the student. examine the effectiveness of the legal system in http://www.law.umn.edu/students/lawclinics/domestic.php
Extractions: Domestic Felony Prosecution Clinic xperts estimate that between one million and four million women a year experience violence at the hands of an intimate partner. As this critical, social problem has become recognized, both the civil and criminal justice systems are playing larger roles in providing protection to victims of domestic violence. Over the course of the last 25 years numerous legal reforms have occurred in both the criminal and civil justice systems focused on strengthening the legal response to domestic violence victims. Although the legal system has instituted these reforms, the problem has remained widespread and the need for legal representation for victims has continued unabated. Recognizing the severity of the need to provide representation to an underserved client population and the educational responsibility of our curriculum to train students in the ethical practice of law, the University of Minnesota Law School clinical program has developed a number of clinical courses that address the representation needs of victim/survivors of domestic violence while at the same time providing students with a important opportunity to learn the skills of practice and examine the values of the profession. The complex and nuanced relationship between lawyer and client present in all client representation is often brought home to students in stark and unavoidable ways when representing victims of domestic violence.
