5-0 out of 5 stars great buy/ highly recommended
I am a homeschooling mom with children between 2-6 years old and everyone loved this kit for ancient Egypt. The hieroglyphic stamps were a hit with all my kids. The kit comes with clay so you can make your own cartouches and/or practice cuneform which was easy enough for all to do.There is a very informative booklet inside about ancient Egyptain life with an emphasis on early writing.I was really impressed with everything inside this kit as well as with the sturdy packaging- this kit will last through for years. We did have to look up the directions to the Mehen game as they aren't in there but we had fun playing once we figured it out. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Happy With This Book
I am extremely pleased with this book. Of all the math-centers books I have, I keep coming back to this one. (As well as the K-1 version, which I also highly recommend.)The centers are easy to set up and don't take any weird, hard-to-find materials. Also, they are not very complicated so my students understand how to do them after me showing them just once. The centers are also really relevant-- relating perfectly to the standards I teach. The students enjoy the hands-on math action and I see how much it helps the students get a deeper understanding.I highly recommend this book! ... Product Description
What's more fun than a treasure hunt? Few other activities offer such excitement and challenge, or the wonderful sense of accomplishment. Now, imagine a treasure hunt that encourages your kids to start reading. From the author of Games for Reading comes the perfect learning aid for beginning readers and their parents. This book, featuring 50 treasure hunt games, provides weeks of family fun, and enables busy parents to help their kids become better readers. There's a new treasure hunt every day, each consisting of three or four clues. Every perforated page is a written clue that parents tear off, fold, hide, leading to familiar items and places in the home-from the fridge to the bed to the bathtub. As kids sharpen their reading skills, hunts become progressively more difficult. A bonus phonics game on the back of the final clue reinforces what kids learned that day.

Learn-to-Read Treausre Hunts works no matter what method of teaching is being used at school. It succeeds because it combines basal, phonics, and whole language techniques with a powerful motivating strategy-fun! As an added incentive, the book is packaged with two sheets of two-color, die-cut reward stickers that parents can use to commend their child when he or she has successfully completed a hunt. Each clue has been vetted by at least three reading specialists, insuring that the words, pictures, scope, and sequence are all appropriate for emerging readers. Keeping in mind that all kids learn and progress differently, Learn-to-Read-Treasure Hunts enables parents to help their own child learn to read-and, more importantly-love to read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE for up and coming readers!
I don't comment too often, but when I really have an opinion I have to.This book is awesome and I am so glad I found it.My daughter LOVES doing these treasure hunts, and unfortunately (well for the book) her reading ability surpassed the book too quickly because the clues were way too easy for her after a while.I had to start going towards the back of the book to get harder ones. But I DEFINITELY recommend this for kids who are just about to learn to read.My daughter will drop whatever she is doing to go on one of these Treasure Hunts and zig-zag through the house to find the clues.Lots and lots of fun and very very educational.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and super easy!
This book is really fun for my beginning reader (6) and my littler son (3). They love working on a team. I've been surprised at how easily my 6yr old can read them, when usually he doesn't want to try to read at all. These have been lots of fun. Of course you could make your own, but it's awesome having the work all done for you! I can set one of these up in under two minutes, and they're always so excited to find a clue!

I don't use the stickers as rewards. I don't use the last clue that says "Come get your sticker!" We started a game with a stuffed animal and sometimes he goes away and hides, but leaves these clues behind. So the end clue is the stuffed animal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent idea
My 5-year-old LOVES doing these treasure hunts; we even use them as a reward when he's had a great day at school. He puts the sticker he earns at the end of each hunt on the calendar, which also gives us the opportunity to discuss days of the week and month.

I would recommend a more rudimentary introduction to reading before beginning to use this book; I started teaching my son to read at home right after his fourth birthday, which is when I bought this book. After it arrived, I realized it would be too advanced for a very new beginner and put it away for later.

What a huge hit it has been (and Pirates of the Caribbean and the acccompanying pirate obsession hasn't hurt the interest in treasure hunts, even though he hasn't seen the movie)!

I will absolutely buy this as gifts for other parents/kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!
My son is 5 and loves these treasure hunts and the match game bonus with each hunt. He would love to do one after the other if I would let him.Every time he finishes one he ask if we can do another one.Don't even think about it -- just get this book! You will not regret it!! It brings so much joy to your child!! and you too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Summer hit!
I purchased this product for summer vacation for my 6 year old daughter. She just finished Kindergarten and has just begun to read this past year. This product has been an excellent tool to continue her reading practice into summer vacation. She and my 4 year old son eagerly beg for their treasure hunt each day! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I Love this Coloring Book!
I am an avid collector of coloring books, even though I'm technically a grown-up. This one meets all my requirements and expectations. The line drawings give room for exploring color and shadow, but have plenty of detail - you can tell what each thing is. I like the alphabet-style presentation of the Sonoran desert denizens and this would be great for any child learning their ABC's, even if some of the words are a little long. The paper is sturdy and watercolors or brush markers could be used with little or no bleedthrough, and the blank backs some might consider a waste of space prevent cross-over coloring. As an armchair botanist I appreciate the Latin taxonomy being included with the regular English names of the plants. The authors are well versed in the subject matter... and best of all, there's a coyote in it :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Sonoran Desert A to Z is more than a coloring book
I thought I knew a lot about the natural history of the Sonoran Desert until I read this book. As a longtime former Arizona resident I spent many hundreds of hours hiking the Sonoran Desert backcountry, often with theauthor himself. There's not much text in this book, but Conrad has packedit with interesting facts. And Donna Atwood's illustrations are bothtechnically accurate and artistically pleasing. I wish they made coloringbooks like this when I was a kid.

5-0 out of 5 stars Much more than a coloring book
I love this book! The descriptions are really good, and the illustrations are incredible. My daughter is drawn to its pictures and we're able to use it like flashcards to identify animals here in the Southwest. To call it acoloring book is an injustice. Teachers should use this book in theirclassroom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sonoran DesertA to Z Coloring Book
What a delightful find. My grandchild adores this book. The artwork is magnificent. The alphabet a hidden treasure for younger children and the information about the animal and plant life was way beyond what I had expected.I learned a lot about the Sonoran Desert. THIS IS NO ORDINARYCOLORING BOOK.

4-0 out of 5 stars Spectacular Book of Adventure and Enjoyment
This coloring book is "fascinating" with written facts and illustrations of the Sonoran Desert's wildlife and plants. What child or adult doesn't enjoy coloring? With this book, children and parents areboth entrigued about the various characteristics of desert creatures andtheir habitats, as well as enjoy coloring the beautiful life-likeillustrations!A quality book and priceless moments with your children. Movement ABCs: An Inclusive Guide to Language Development provides a wealth of developmentally appropriate movement activities tailored for children ages three to six. Each letter serves as a theme for exploring inner language concepts such as body parts, body movements, directions, and numbers. Children also are invited to explore a variety of tempos, colors, shapes, words, nouns, verbs and names.

Movement ABCs: An Inclusive Guide to Language Development provides a valuable framework for understanding the approach, planning guidelines, and tips for appropriate implementation as spelled out by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.
