My Son Loves This Book!
My son loves this book. We first checked it out of the library but after 3 times checking it out and he still wanted it, I bought it. He never seems to tire of it and it is a lot of practice in counting backwards or subtraction. You have gotta love that!

OK for younger kids
This book would be OK for kids who are just learning about subtraction (say, in kindergarten or early in first grade). The math is too easy (take away 1 or 2 cookies on each page and count how many are left) for anyone older than that. Sure, it's kind of fun the first time to see how the words that Riding Hood and the different characters say change when you offer them one versus two cookies, but for kids who are used to playing educational computer games that offer many more choices, it quickly becomes boring. ... No more back-seat screeching

Be ready for the next YO-YO wave!
It seems that YO-YO's hit a big craze about every 10 years or so.The last one was at the end of the 90's and what an advancement we saw in the techonology of yo-yos,tricks being performed,books available and a profusion of stuff on the "net".
This was the second book by Bruce Weber and it is excellent,both for a beginner and for someone wanting to add to their repetoire of tricks.His first book "You Can YO-YO Too!" was also excellent;especially for beginners.
In the late 1990's there was an explosion in yo-yo's and everything to go along with them.I bought dozens of them and for "a kid of 64" at that time,it was fun to find the latest for sale ,and have enough "coin" in my pocket to buy anything I saw.
My first purchase,a Yomega Fireball,was an unbelievable advance over anything I had played with in my youth.It seemed that each time I went into a store,I found something new.I really liked everything Yomega came up with.Spintastics also had awsome yo-yos.Another one of my favorites was the aluminium "Zombie",which I bought in all colors.There were excellent wood ones around,such as the "Rainbow" I bought so many different ones,I soon had a collection which included just about everything imaginable.One of the strangest I came across,and never encountered again was "Turbo Sparkler"made by Da Mert Co,San Leandro,Ca,in 1989.It had mylar tassels like on an Indian jacket,and was as eye-catchingas a Go-Go dancer.Lots of show effect,but short on ability to do tricks.Then there were all the fancy bearings,trans-axel,Butterfly,auto-return,electronic with lights and even built in counters.We even had our local champion in Toronto with his own brand of excellent yo-yo's ,"Fast Eddy" McDonald.There was even the start amagazine,and it was a super magazine,128 pages,in color,including tricks ,yo-yo's ,personalities, glossy, filled with everything.It was called "YO-YO World" .The Premier Issue came out in 1999,and was to be a Bi-Monthly.As far as I know,there was only one issue.
Then the "Craze" started to pass.Stores slashed prices drastically and for a while there were unbelievable buys to be had. Now there are a few around,but not many and not much different.I went into a store one day and found the most expensive yo-yo I'd ever come across.It was Tom Kuhn's ,ball-bearing "Roller Wood","The World's Best!",claiming to be "the World's Longest Spinning Wooden Y0-Yo's".It came in a box and had a price of [...]. It had been reduced to [...],and further discounted by 70%.I got it for [...]The craze was over--for now, anyway!
I was at the Canadian National Expedition this summer and saw two young boys about 12 or so doing some pretty good tricks.It just goes to show you that Y0-Yoing abates for a while ;but will return again,bigger and better.I can only imagine,after what advancements were made in the late 90's;what is in store for us in a few years.

A bit difficult
I've read many yo yo books and they all taught me the same tricks.Here's abook which at long last has some new tricks.Some of the tricks are pretty hard, this book is definitely not for beginners.If you have read acouple other trick books and are ready to move on, you should read thisbook.

A superb activity book that engages a child
We recently had our 7-year old niece stay with us for a week, and she loved working through this book.It has a very nice set of excercises and tasks - drawing, logic, counting.Very nicely produced, with amusing excercises.Printed on good paper, nice colors, pleasant to draw on.Unlike TV, this leads one to interact with a child in a very positive and pleasant way.I highly recommend this book!The only thing - you cannot just shove it at a kid, this is not like parking them in front of a TV - you actually have to engage with them and look at many excercises together. Highly recommended!

Bad Service
I placed an order today and it was the most difficult experience I have ever had placing an order with you. The method of payment page would not accept my credit card or bank account although repeated attempts were made. It would also not accept the last 5 numbers of my credit card.

I then decided to call and found it very difficult to find your phone number. On my first call Kernal (or Karnel) hung up on me when I expressed my displeasure with the difficulty of ordering and talking to a person. I called back and spoke to Utpesana who was difficult to understand. I insisted on speaking to a supervisor. She put me on hold and after about 5 minutes I gave up.

I logged out of your web page and logged back in and was able to complete my purchase.

I will look for another vendor for my books.
