The area of Kyrgyzstan is equal to 198.5 thousand km. The average altitude of the territory above sea level is 2750 m., the highest altitude 7439 m. (Peak Pobeda), the lowest - 394 m. (in the south-west of the Republic). Relief of Kyrgyzstan is mainly mountainous. The Republic is rich in ores of non-ferrous and rare metals, coal and other minerals. The climate is continental. Rivers belong mainly to Syr Darya system ( the main of them - Naryn) and are used for irrigation. There are many lakes, the largest - Issyk-Kul.
