Product Description
Born of Italian-American parents, Helen Barolini rediscovered her culinary heritage when she married Italian writer Antonio Barolini and lived for some years in Italy. Festa is a year-long feast of memories and delicious, traditional Italian dishes-from St. Nicholas sweetmeats in December and perciatelli with sardines and fennel for March's St. Joseph's Day, to figs with prosciutto for summer's Ferragosto and pumpkin gnocchi for an American Thanksgiving in Italy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Love this concept!
I have her Perfect Party Food cookbook, and thought I'd try the Happy Holidays edition.I've tried several recipes from both with great success. It's so nice to be able to spend time with your guests rather than slaving in the kitchen while they're having a good time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Happy Holidays from the Diva of Do Ahead
Happy Holidays from the Diva of Do-Ahead: A Year of Feasts to Celebrate with Family and Friends This book is well worth the investment of your time and money. My family raved over every dish we tried for Thanksgiving and I had a more relaxed holiday. Thanks, Diane Phillips!

3-0 out of 5 stars Kind of pedestrian
I made the entire New Year's Eve buffet, and I was a little disappointed. To me, the flavors weren't zesty enough. The pesto was delicious including the artichoke pesto, but things weren't generally my taste and seemed kind of standard and heavy. And the brie bites didn't freeze or thaw well, and they really stuck to the tin even after spraying it with Pam as instructed.

None of the food was bad, it just wasn't all that special.

I love the idea of do-ahead, so I wish that this was a menu I could use again.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Cookbook
I made the entire Thanksgiving feast in this cookbook ahead.I decided to follow the directions in this book, and a month before Thanksgiving, I spent about 5 nights preparing dishes. It was fun, and let me tell you, it was the best Thanksgiving feast imaginable. No one knew it was all made ahead.

Now, mind you, I am noted for my cooking.I was just in a crunch for time this year, and decided to do it this way.Believe me when I say, this is the way it will be done every year from now on.

Since Thanksgiving, I have made many of the recipes in this book.I have not been disappointed with one single recipe. I have raved about this book so much to my friends, that I have since begun giving this cookbook as a gift.

If you are interested in enjoying your parties, too, then I suggest you get this book and try the tips and the recipes.

5-0 out of 5 stars another fantastic cookbook

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun book
Fun book with lots of good recipes for every holiday--or even those special days in between the holidays. Some recipes are simple to make or with few ingredients, other are fancier. Each holiday has several different recipes so you are not limited to a specific menu.ENJOY!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Lots of chapters and nothing special.
I'm disappointed with the book. There are several chapters named for the holidays and several that I do not consider holidays. Such as, Summer Picnics, Fall Favorites, Kid's Celebrations, Fancy Foods for a Diabetic Diet, Low-Carb Celebrations, Low-Fat Celebrations, and Ethnic Favorites. There are also several cocktail recipes.I don't think this book is worth the cost or the time to look at it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Hadassah Jewish Holiday Cookbook
One of the most beautiful and complete Jewish & Kosher cookbooks I ever seen.Since my first purchase, I have ordered several more as gifts for family and friends. This is a "must have" for any cookbook enthusiast!

3-0 out of 5 stars don't know yet
We bought this book to be the prize in a drawing for our Chanukah party on the 28th of Dec.My husband peeked in the book and loves most of the recipes, but (obviously) we haven't made any yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite cookbooks
This cookbook will never reach your bookshelf. It will remain close by for reading, education, and cooking purposes. It is SO delightful, and each recipe I have tried has been delicious. Our favorites are Pineapple-Ricotta Kugel (to live for), Ukrainian Borscht (please try it, you'll like it), Crockpot Cholent (this shouldn't be legal, it is so good), Haroset from Suriname (no complaints from anyone on this - delicious), and Chicken Marrakesh (great for company - feeds 10-12).

All of the Hadassah cookbooks that you can get your hands on are worth having. There is a real community of people who love good food behind them. I have over 1,000 cookbooks in my collection, and this "Jewish Holiday Hadassah Cookbook is in the top 5 of all of them.
