Distorted information is transmitted to young adults
Is the purpose of this book to teach young adults about Eritrea or to put Haile Selassie I in a bad light? There is, I believe deliberately, an unattractive picture of Haile Selassie with a caption underneath it which states that he was power hungry. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have read his autobiography and a couple of biopgraphies on him and it is obvious that although he had a mission to improve Ethiopia's situation, his compassion was for the people of the world.He did NOT do the same thing to Eritrea as the Europeans did to Africans or Native Americans; Eritrea was, in fact, a state.Eritrea broke international law by invading Ethiopia and triggering war.There is a whole section in this book about how horrible and destructive Haile Selassie supposedly was toward Eritrea, which is false. Both parties spent too much money on something that could have been achieved through peaceful means and Haile Selassie did NOT instigate the violence.Incorrect and misleading information is being given to young adults.
