The book is okay.It does offer animal facts and such but I did not buy the book for the story, instead I bought the book for the adorable art work.I am an elephant collector and the art work went right along with my collection.Smaller children will enjoy the story. ... Read more

a lot of book
still reading,a lot of unneccesary folderol is included but the nuggets do appear throughout.this book tells a lot of things about hunting huge game before the smokeless powder age.30 to 50 shots to down one elephant is a little hard to understand,because the author talks of hardening his bullets and placing his shots in the correct places from very short range.i did lose a lot of respect for the author for crippling an elephant then watching it suffer so he could study it stating it was obviously in great pain and seemed to wish for death.still it is old and has some historical value.but the author couldn't carry sir samuel bakers jockstrap. ...
