Head to the library or bookstore, there are numerous books, teaching examples, and workbooks that help you plan your classes. Before I left to teach in China, I stopped by my local university and met with the ESL teachers there who work with immigrant students in the U.S. They were more than happy to let me sit in on a few classes, to give me tips and advice. As a recent college graduate wanting to explore the world of teaching abroad I chose to come to Vorarlberg due to my fondness of children. Due to the small sizes of my classes has enabled me to become a more confident teacher in a short amount of time. I have been able to manage my students and incorporate my own ideas into teaching English as a second language. And while Kurt and Nikki Leidinger have already laid down the foundation to their alternate teaching methods such as using cards, authentic materials, singing and dancing, they welcome new ideas and creations from their current teachers. Indeed creativity is a large aspect for any teacher of any subject, however EFC offers more creative opportunities for both its teachers and its students because of its emphasis and assurance of orally mastering a language in a fun and stress free environment. The amount of knowledge I have received as a first year teacher has been immense.
