Its Minister for Economy and Foreign Trade Youssef Boutros Ghali said his government was also eager to set up plants to help Kenya exploit the African Growth and Opportunity Act trade benefits. The minister was speaking in Nairobi yesterday when he led the first foreign delegation to State House since election of a new government. He delivered a message from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to President Mwai Kibaki, congratulating him and Kenyans for conducting peaceful elections. "This has proved that Africa is dynamic and capable of bringing itself to the 21st century." Mr Mubarak assured President Kibaki of Egyptian support in his government's objectives, especially in health and employment. He said Mr Kibaki had proposed an increase in the value-adding threshold for intra-Comesa trade from the present 45 per cent as a way of Africa avoiding being a transit point for goods from Asia and other continents.
