great ideas
What an adorable book. I just started to felt. I made a messenger bag for my laptop. It's great fun.

I hate Vogue Knitting
I hated this book. And the weird thing is that I really love felting. Vogue knitting patterns and their magazine have this built-in snobbish attitude that you can almost smell. So many of their patterns seem to be just tossed in without thought. They'll be for a great-looking bag with ugly handles -- or no handles at all. Or they'll be just a little off-looking. They have a "publishing empire" or something, and I suppose we should be grateful for their crumbs.... I bought the book because it was inexpensive and looked interesting but was disappointed by the projects. They seemed to mimic the really creative, fun projects created by independent designers, but when you looked at them closely, they weren't all that great. And -- here's the worst part: the easy projects were ugly and only the very advanced projects were appealing. That's one of the reasons I feel Vogue knitting books and magazines have snob appeal. If you're a very advanced or ambitious knitter, they're probably fine. My personal approach is to have fun with knitting, not use it as a means of one-upmanship.
I probably will not buy any more Vogue patterns.

A bit disappinting...
I only liked a couple of the designs in this book, unfortunately.I was expecting a better variety and more stylish things from a Vogue knitting book.Many of these designs are very frivolous--not what I was looking for at all.There are a couple of cute bags, slippers, etc, but there are way better felting pattern books out there.

Adorable
This is an exact reprint of the original, published in 1918, complete with all the original illustrations. The best thing about this book is that it has the young knitter learn to knit by making doll clothes, so the projects are quick to finish. There are even patterns for WW1 vintage military wear for your doll. These patterns could be adapted to fit American Girl dolls, I think. ... Read more
