The seismic evaluation and retrofit of water transmission infrastructure is an area of growing concern to utilities that own large water conveyance systems. Many water and power utilities today rely heavily on water transmission structures built in the 1930s or earlier without regard to seismic design. Today, utilities are finding that these facilities are threatened by many seismic hazards including liquefaction, landslides, surface faulting and ground shaking. If these facilities are not seismically strengthened, they pose a significant threat to the utility's ability to provide water for customer service, for fire fighting purposes after major earthquakes, or to supply hydroelectric facilities. Horrible reprint edition.
My complaint isn't about the book, or its contents.It concerns the horrible job that General Books did reprinting this book.Unlike Kessinger or a few other book re-printers, that copy the whole page as part of the printing process, General Books used a computerized optical reader to scan the pages, copy the writing, and digitize it for reprinting.When the optical reader comes to a letter or word that it can't figure out, it substitutes letters or words, making words, and some sentences almost indecipherable in some cases.

The text is so bad that you literally can't figure out what the author is trying to say.There could be words, paragraphs, or whole pages missing and you wouldn't even know it.

I gave up before the 2nd page was finished.It would have been great if this book could have been reprinted in a readable manner, esp. since it is so rare and probably expensive, however I will pay the extra money, and wait, however long, it takes, rather than risk a migraine trying to decipher these hieroglyphics............. ...
