5-0 out of 5 stars Worth buying
I purchased this in my sixth month of pregnancy and love it.I have been listening to it almost every day since.Very relaxing... great while in the tubby or if you just need to find a little pit of peace in your day.

5-0 out of 5 stars very good music
very good and soothing music, very relaxing even for audlts. But it only has 30 minutes playing time, I wish it would be longer, for an hour or so.

5-0 out of 5 stars Soothing for the restless
I have a 3 month old son who fights sleep- even when he's overtired and can barely hold his eyes open. I got this CD when he was about 6 weeks old and started working it into his nap time routine. It didn't immediately put him to sleep, as some people have said it does for their children, but he did start to listen and stop fussing long enough to calm down and eventually go to sleep. Since then (he's 14 weeks now), I've used this CD most afternoons when settling him down for a nap. It won't put him to sleep if he's not tired, but if he's showing any signs of sleepiness, he'll usually drift off by the 6th track with little or no fussiness. I enjoy listening to the melodies as well, and it helps me rest a little while he's napping.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent purchase!
I'm happy with the product, you get high quality selections from Mozart and it's really soothing and relaxing music, especially for the evening.

Product Description
Discover the world of musical sound and the amazing variety of instruments that create music.

Here is an original and exciting look at the fascinating world of sound and music. Superb real-life photographs of instruments ranging from zithers and panpipes to electric guitars and synthesizers offer a unique "eyewitness" view of ancient and contemporary music. See how strings vibrate to make a note sound, how an invisible "column" of air sounds a pipe, which instrument resembles a peacock, how sousaphone players wear their instruments. Learn who invented an important new key system, how to master the bagpipes, why pipe organs have "ears" and "mouths", and why French horns are "doubled up". Discover how a vegetable gourd charms snakes, why tangled fingers led to the invention of the piano, why spiders add a "buzz" to xylophones, where reindeer toe-bones were used as whistles, and much, much more! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Another wonderful treasure for young readers
The Eyewitness Books series is the gold standard for young readers. This volume focuses on "Music." The subtitle provides some context: "Discover how music is made in close-up--from the most primitive to the most modern instruments." Neil Ardley is the writer for this volume, and deserves much credit. And, as always, the illustrations are top notch.

The first segment, "Seeing sound," provides a brief introduction as to why different instruments sound differently. There are several examples showing how (Page 6) "The sound wave from each instrument makes its own kind of pressure changes. These can be shown by curved and jagged lines that are called waveforms. . . ." So, kids will learn a little physics by the side door! The examples are nicely illustrated on page 7.

Thereafter, the book explores each family of instruments, one by one. From wind instruments to pipes/flutes to brass to strings (early and later) to harps to guitars. Later the book examines electrifying music and the rock guitar! The final section focuses on "Machine music," such as synthesizers.Again, the examples illustrated on pages 62-63 will make this discussion "real" for youth who read this volume.

One nice feature is the consideration of older instruments. For instance, pages 28-29 looks at "early and unusual strings," including fiddles from Norway, the Middle East, and the Mongols. Other examples are also provided.

So, all in all, another nice book for young readers. I congratulate myself that I was wise enough to buy this and many other works for my son a decade and a half ago, even though I'm not sure that I put that much thought into acquiring these wonderful works.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book about music
DK eyewitness books are some of the greatest non-fiction books around. The distinctive white background and high-quality photography gives this book an edge over any other nonfiction picture book. And -- these pictures are real! They're beautiful photos of all things related to music, accompanied by informative captions and text.

Learn about instruments, parts of music, and everything related to music, all augmented by stunningly beautiful museum-quality photography.

If you know someone (young or old) who is fascinated by music, then you must introduce them to this book! It's a great lesson about music, and a beautiful book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Stay Organized with Piano Lessons!
This "Lesson Assignment Book" is a great way to stay organized with your child's piano lessons. It can be used with Levels 1 -4 of the "Music for Little Mozarts" series.

There are 32 lesson "Assignment" pages that span two pages each (eight months of weekly lessons!). It tracks the lesson number, day, date and time (this is a great feature for parents who need to keep track of when to pay the teacher next!), and when the next lesson is. There is a homework section that uses the Lesson Book, Music Workbook, Discovery Book and Other (great for Recital Book). There is a "New" and "Review" column for each lesson book used. Next is a days of the week tracker for recording practice time in minutes. For teachers, there is space for evaulating that day's lesson and comments. Parents are also given comment space. At the end, there is work space for the child with a printed keyboard and music notation lines.

The end of book has space for "My Favorite Pieces" and "Music I Have Performed."

This is an inexpensive way to stay organized while your child learns piano. We have enjoyed it thoroughly!

2-0 out of 5 stars unorganized, but you need it if you're going to teach the program.
This book has articles on the importance of childhood music, how to be successful teaching children, advantages of teaching group lessons, a brochure to advertise a program, how to plan a lesson that flows well. At the end it has a brief list of the page numbers of the material that could be broken into 20 lessons.I wish it listed the information more clearly (ie. the concepts and or song titles as well as the page numbers!).I had to flip back and forth through all of the books and the handbook to find everything I needed to plan just one lesson, aargh!

It has instructions on all the different kinds of skills to be taught in the little mozarts curriculum. If you are the type of person who reads the instructions when you assemble your own furniture, this book is for you, if you just figure it out yourself, you won't like this book.

Personally, I think this book wasn't well organized, but I wouldn't want to try to figure the program out without it. ... Read more

"As a Certified Teacher of Kelly Kirby Kindergarten Piano, I have several of my young - 4 and 5 year olds - using the Doctor Mozart Book - They are enjoying it immensely and commend you for your work." D.L., AB.

"Our little ones (Kindergarten and 1st graders) especially love this book.I'm really impressed with how much they enjoy doing their theory work. If anything is going to get done during the week - it is their pages in Dr. Mozart." L., Huntington Center for the Arts, Monroe, LA

"I have been searching for a theory book which will enhance the piano student's lessons rather than bore them. I have also been unable to find theory books which focus on linking the keyboard to the staff. The Doctor Mozart theory book is filled with everything for which I have been searching. The pages are colorful, and there are interesting, fun tips that help students retain information in ways not found in the traditional theory books. I was THRILLED to find that this book has many sections dedicated to helping the student realize which staff note each key on the piano is related to. Thank you!" J.K., Maple Grove, MN

5-0 out of 5 stars Colorful and engaging music theory book. Highly recommended.
I like this book. The kids enjoy the funny drawings, and they can do most of the exercises on their own. If they get confused, I just read the instructions and figure it out for them. It's pretty simple.

The back cover says music theory can help you learn a musical instrument. The trouble is, kids tend to avoid anything that looks like homework. But this Doctor Mozart workbook is colorful and cheerful, and it catches their interest. And it does look better than the sample on this website. Plus, as a book, it gets them away from the computer. They get practice writing the notes and clefs on the staff. It's good to learn by doing it yourself, in my opinion.

All around, I'm very pleased. I'll definitely buy more of these.
