I recommend for any teacher or parent!
I found this book in my local library, and had to get it for everyone I knew with children.I like the idea of literature and science, and everything in school and life, being connected.Schools don't do enough interdisciplinary teaching that lets children understand the connections between everything in life.This books is a good start towards that.While I would prefer the inclusion of more literary works aimed at older children, the fact that the authors have included activities and questions, along with specific lessons for specific grade levels, makes this book unique and invaluable. ... Teaching Social Studies to my First Grader
We homeschool and I was clueless as to how to meet my state's requirements for social studies without buying some expensive SS curriculum. I searched my local library and found this book. It is awesome! It lists books to cover each topic and includes discussion topics and activities to do with some of the books. It is well-organized and thorough. I'm only just beginning, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm requesting the first list of books from my library this evening... and figuring out when I can buy this book.
