Book advertised as in good condition, when really only acceptable
Purchased this book as a book in good condition and the book is separating from the binding. I would call it only acceptable condition which is not what i purchased. Would probably not purchase from this big vendor again.

My calculus book
The book was not in good shape at all, the whole book was literaly taped together. Alot of the pages had fallen off, the only good part was that the pages were not missing. Any ways i guess thats what i get for buying used books

The best part that make this book stand out is the way it presents trigonometry. Take those chapters out, ignore the answer sheet (really, they shouldn't be solutions if the ends are not accompanied by the means), take a class with an excellent teacher, you're set for calculus. ... Read more

The Whole Book?
The book arrived in good shape, and seemed wonderful, right up until my son had homework on a page that didn't exist in our copy. Seems twelve or so pages were missing from this edition. Not cut or torn out, simply missing. I thought I was buying an entire book. I was wrong.

The Wosre Textbook
This is the worse textbook.
Not to mention the errors in this textbook.
It intends to cover every concept in one textbook.
The truth is no one could finish it in a full year.
Only teachers don't teach and skip a lot could finish "teaching" it
in a year.
A teacher cares about how much students could learn in a year should
never use this textbook.
It is really sad to see many schools using it.
Are those teachers knew about teaching Math?

A far less than optimal precalc textbook
I have been tutoring mathematics for some years now and have a Master's degree in astrophysics, so I know my math.This book may be the worst precalculus text that I have ever seen. Things are often presented out of order to what one would expect.Some things that should be given greater coverage are lightly explained while other less important points are covered with too much detail.I have two precalculus students at present who go to different schools: one was issued this textbook while the other has Glencoe Advanced Mathematical Concepts: Precalculus with Applications [GLENCOE ADVD MATHEMATICAL CONC]. The latter book is far superior in the details of included examples, the clarity of its explanations, and its overall layout.

Great seller, got my item on time, and it was an accurate description and a great buy.

Not too pleased
The book was described as "New-used" but was far from that. The edges were torn, there was writing on 3 sides of the book in bright pink marker (impossible to hide). If it was described as "Used" I might have accepted the condition of the book. There was no writing in the book, but the outside look ridiculous.When I use a book, I don't write inside it, and I certainly don't write my name on every side of the book. The word new should be no where near the description of this book.

Shipping took about a week which was a lot less than what I expected and the condition of the book was excellent. I also enjoyed paying such a small portion of the price compared to my school.

Excellent text.
This review applies to all books written by Marvin Bittinger. I have used
his books on elementary algebra, college algebra, precalculus, and calculus. His writing is clear, concise, and always on the level of the
maturity of his audience. The examples are excellent and the problems are
suitable for each book. He doesn't "dumb down" the material nor is the
presentation overly rigorous. I wish he would right a full blown 1,000 -
1,200 page three semester text for calculus.

Nice try
The author does a good job of providing appropriate graphics to aid in the student's comprehension, but the text is woefully lacking. My professor, thankfully, used the book only for the exercises, which are quite extensive. Whenever I had difficulty grasping an idea and referred to the text I became completely confused, so I began recording my class and playing it back for a clear explanation. I am the type of student who can learn on my own, but that could never happen with this book. ... Read more
