She received her MA in Latin American Studies from Berkeley and her PhD in Sociology from UCLA. Her areas of interest are in Political Sociology, Social Theory, and Latin American/Mexican Studies. She has received funding from the National Science Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Andrew Mellon Foundation.
