The Illinois State University Police Department is committed to this principle of crime prevention "service" style of policing and order maintenance rather than a legalistic approach when possible. (1 hour) This program deals with the four categories of rape; 1) stranger; 2) acquaintance; 3) date, and; 4) gang, and defines each category. It is intended to project that with proper planning to eliminate dangerous situations, vulnerability can be reduced. The program also emphasizes that learning to recognize danger signs and avoid risk by being alert and thinking ahead can, in many cases, help avoid tragedy. This program includes psychological preparedness for safety, self-defense techniques, and safety precautions participants can master without special equipment and will present the delivery of counter attack. The overall program is based on the "Conroy Method" and is supplemented by the film, "Common Sense Self Defense."

(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) DARE is a collaborative effort by DARE certified law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents and the community to offer an educational program in the classroom to prevent or reduce drug abuse and violence among children and youth. The DARE curriculum is organized into seventeen 45 to 60 minute lessons with strategies that focus on the development of social competence, communication skills, self-esteem, empathy, decision making, conflict resolution, sense of purpose and independence and positive alternative activities to drug abuse and other destructive behaviors. School Resource Officers Officers work in conjunction with school officials to provide a law enforcement presence within the school system. The officers attempt to create a positive relationship with the students, by not only being active in the schools, (i.e. attending school functions, sporting events, dances) but have an open door policy allowing students to interact with them. The officers also work with the school principals in matters of discipline and any criminal nature.

Pamphlets: Roseville Police Department Emergency Information Are You Okay (RUOK) Since May of 1993, the Roseville Police Department has provided the RUOK service to elderly Roseville residents. Each morning the computer generated system contacts 25 Roseville residents to make sure that they are able to answer the phone. If one of the 25 participants in the program does not answer, the system sounds an alert. At that point, either a CSO or a member of the office staff contacts a designated friend or relative of the RUOK participant to check on the RUOK member. If the residents leaves their home for hospital visits or vacation we can take them out of the calling pattern and this also includes not calling on certain days of the week if they wish.
