Plug in something else and see if it works in that outlet. Make sure the switch is turned on. On some computers you have to press the "triangle" key to start. b. NO SOUND Determine if it is a system problem or a specific program problem by running several programs that have sound and see if they work. If some programs have sound and others don't (a program problem), then check the documentation for the programs that are having problems. If there is no sound at all from any programs (system problem), go to apple control panel, then choose the sound control panelslide bar to the top and check sound by clicking on one of the alert sounds If you still don't hear sound, then there is probably a problem with the sound card. If you get sound sometimes, but not other times (fades in and out or "crackles") then it is probably a loose sound card.
