If you want them to be puncey stuck up little snobs, teach them about netball. If you want them to grow up to be lesbian pornstars then teach them about netball. And get her dad to show her how to kick a footie for christ's sake, let her be a real woman!!

Baseball By: Scorekeeper Noah, No doubt that book has a lot of good advice, just as the advice you gave is excellent and I'm certainly not saying to ignore any of it. I don't mean to be facetious, but did anyone ever try letting the kids pick two teams and just letting them play ball for at least one practice a week? Before you poo poo the thought, isn't the object to teach them to play baseball? There's a vast difference between learning to play "practice baseball" and to play "baseball". Before you try to teach a kid how to catch, throw and hit, answer this question. If you took two kids, gave them a ball and told them to throw it to each other 10 minutes every day for a week, would they be any worse at playing catch than if you showed them how to do it and had them do drills while you corrected or congratulated them on each throw? Or how about this one. If you gave two kids a bucket of balls, a bat and a tee and told each one to hit a bucket of balls every day for a week, would they be worse off than if they were shown videos and given "special" attention? Probably, the kids that got the "coaches" help would be doing better, but what would that mean to the kids? Do little kids really know they are doing something badly or not unless some adult tells them?

Extractions: Then, practice your run at the ball and do your power heading. This technique allows you to separate the actual process of heading the ball from the timing of the jump. Once you have learned the height which you need for the jump, and the way to make the contact with the ball, you will be ready to work on reading the angles of incoming balls and jumping up to meet them. While it is nice to have a buddy to send balls to you, such friendly folks are not always available. So, if you have any two-story buildings around where you can toss the ball against the building and have it rebound to you, this will allow you to do some work with balls which are coming at different speeds (and, if you turn a bit sideways as you toss the ball, you can simulate a ball coming in as if from a corner kick).
