Extractions: Articles Discussion Board Magazine Coaching Tips: Teach FEEL and kinesthetic awareness. By Terry Laughlin Eric Jones posted this question on the TI Discussion Forum: I recently started coaching a masters team (my first coaching position) and have run into the problem of re-training several of my swimmers to look down instead of forward. They understand the concepts and TI drills are an integral part of my workouts; but, without fail, when we do "swimming", the heads come up. Does anyone have any suggestions. They don't seem to know when they're doing it. Please help! every Then have them do a length incorrectly (i.e. looking forward again) and ask how they feel when doing that. Again, get vivid and detailed description of how this changes all their sensations. Next try a drill-swim set, perhaps 16 x 25 with the odd 25s Skating and the even 25s swimming. The sole instruction for this set is to devote 100 percent of your attention to this list of sensations they just described and try to make those sensations be the same on the swim length as on the drill length. Now try a set of whole-stroke repeats, perhaps 8 x 25. Instruct them to start each length with the head hidden, but to gradually raise it for a few strokes in mid-pool, then align it again at the end of the lap. Compare how each feel.vs. how it FEELS when they are looking forward.

Calling them "blue" often does not help in this endeavor. I suggest that you address them by their names. I am not good at remembering names so I always write their name in my left palm. I will always address them by their first name when I ask a question or have conversation between innings. Hitting Tip of The Month PROBLEM: The batter "locks" or straightens out the front arm when it is taken back to the "power" or "trigger" position. This flaw causes the batter to be late starting th swing, the bat speed to slow, increases the bats distance to the ball, and often causes premature wrist roll.

Extractions: In 1287 in Umbria, Italy, Lady Emilia and Lord Parisio had planned a grand celebration for the birth of their long-awaited first child. But when the baby was born, no bells were rung; no feast was given. For the baby was not the "perfect" child of which they'd dreamed. Instead, she was a homely, blind hunchback, with one leg considerably shorter than the other. Lady Emilia and Lord Parisio could find no room in their hearts for their baby, and wanted nothing to do with her. But a kindly servant girl took her and had her baptized "Margaret," which means "pearl." When she was six years old, Margaret's father led his daughter to a secluded spot in the woods and had her locked in a cell. Although she suffered terribly in that small, dank, stone prison, Margaret received the Grace to transcend her surroundings. At a tender age, she saw God's plan for her, which she revealed to a visiting priest: "Jesus was rejected even by His own people, and God is letting me be treated the same so that I can follow Our dear Lord more Closely." She endured 14 years in her cell, growing ever closer to Christ.

Basketball Coaching Tips For Coaches List of tips and Articles Seven Ideas That Will on defensive position and movement, teach defense in coaching begins and ends with individual instruction on http://www.mrbasketball.net/instuff/e4tipsco.html
Extractions: By Sidney Goldstein No wonder many coaches are overwhelmed each season: besides being a basketball expert, you need to be an expert teacher, organizer, floor general, child psychologist, and more. You probably have another job that keeps you busy. Here are several ideas that may make your life easier and your season more successful. 1. Don't let them do it! That's right, make sure your players do things right in practice. Don't let players shoot from half court, shoot with faulty technique, dribble with their heads down, palm the ball while dribbling, and so on. If players can't do things correctly, don't let them do them at all. Ban shooting from more than three feet or dribbling, if you think its necessary. Remember: if your players practice improperly, then they become experts on doing things wrong (we call these bad habits). 2. Don't try to do it all!
Extractions: List of Tips and Articles Tips for Everyone Fourteen Defensive Tips Straight From the Bible (Basketball that is) Defense is, no doubt, the easiest skill to learn. Players can become experts in weeks rather than the months or years it can take to improve offensive performance. However, you cannot skip all the steps and go right into a zone defense. You need to learn how to play and practice defense in each and every situation. If you want to permanently improve, read on. These tips are in the form of principles and counterproductive beliefs and are directed to players. The principles tell you what to practice. Counterproductive beliefs are widely held ideas that prevent learning, because they do not hold true. The Principles of Defense Defensive body position enables you to move quickly in any direction. The feet are slightly greater than shoulder-width apart. The knees are bent, while the back is straight. Put your weight on the balls of your feet. Tap dance by moving your feet one-two inches off the ground as quickly as possible. The hands are ready to catch the ball.

Extractions: Appeal Play by Opposing Team When the other team (bad guys) have an appeal play - first, make sure the opposing pitcher appeals correctly. He must first address the umpire to tell him that he is appealing a base. Then he must step back off the rubber and throw to the base. If he does this incorrectly it is a balk. Second, when the pitcher throws to the base, time is not out. The ball is live. (remember, only the umpire can call time out) Runners may advance. If the pitcher throws to second and you have a runner on third, SEND HIM HOME! Of course if the runner on third missed second and the umpire just happened to be doing his job and saw it, hes out anyway, what have you got to lose. The Chief Player Occupying the Base Path Question: In both of our first two games, this has come up in differing areas. It concerns players occupying the base paths. As I understand the rule, defensive players should only be in the base paths when fielding a ball (whether thrown or hit). Alternately, base runners cannot go outside the base paths while running.

Extractions: The Practical Magic Coaching Tip is a tip on creating life solutions using universal laws and tribal and shamanic traditions. The focus of these tips is helping you learn to effectively study and use the manifestation process. The tips help you put the magic in your life! Feel free to republish the information in these tips with proper credit. It's All About Attention Early on in my spiritual studies one of my teachers told me that if I wanted to study with him, I could study with no one else. At first, I found this rule very restricting and struggled with it greatly (I had a mechanical habit of seeking advice from many people all the time). As time went on, however, I came to understand the reason for this restriction. By not allowing me to seek input from others, this restriction forced me to focus my attention in only one place, and in doing so, sharpened my attention so greatly that I learned and experienced much in a short amount of time. With the advent of the Internet and other sorts of media, our world has shrunk and we have access to so many more different types of spiritual teaching. Theres a tendency to get caught by the glamour of this one, the dazzle of that one and the promises of yet a third one. We may dabble in meditation, chanting, praying, yoga, bodywork, astral travel, communication with various kinds of spirits and so on. But what we need to remember in our spiritual journeys is that beneath all the different trappings of any kind of study is the development of attention. Every teacher may approach this differently, but ultimately they seek to develop the level and focus of our attention. Why? Because we create that which we attend to. Our attention is a tractor beam that calls to us that which we focus on.
