(The ninth volume lists veterans of Black Hawk, Mexican, and Spanish-American Wars.) This 1900-1901 publication, originating from the rosters maintained during the Civil War by the Illinois Adjutant General, is the result of an 1899 Illinois statute mandating that a corrected version of these records and subsequent publications be printed.     Extractions: The highly acclaimed Virginia Civil War Trails program has recently been expanded to include Southside Virginia through the creation of the Wilson-Kautz Raid driving tour. An integral part of this new tour - indeed the ultimate goal of the Wilson-Kautz raiders - is the railroad bridge over the Staunton River, in the Staunton River Battlefield State Park . Another stop is planned at Mulberry Hill plantation, less than a mile north of Roanoke Station. Mulberry Hill served as Union headquarters during the Battle for the Bridge. In addition a stop was added in the village* of Halifax where in June of 1864 a company of home guards was mustered and pressed into service. This group of old men and young boys were rushed to the bridge which they helped defend from multiple Union Cavalry attacks.
