Extractions: Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (TRIP) The Kalamazoo Christian School Association's Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (TRIP) is an exciting opportunity to accumulate credit toward tuition obligations and help build the KCSA Financial Aid Fund. Since you already shop at many participating merchants, doesn't it make sense to enroll in TRIP and reduce your tuition cost at the same time? Through TRIP, bulk quantities of gift certificates from grocery stores, restaurants and many other business are purchased at a discount. The certificates are then sold to participating families at face value, with the discount passed on in the form of a tuition credit. You need not have a student enrolled in the Kalamazoo Christian Schools to participate. Some families have even paid for their entire first year of school by enrolling in TRIP before their child even began preschool or kindergarten! Our textbook selection includes Christian and secular publishers and is based on faculty, parent and administrative recommendation. Language arts (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are integrated throughout the curriculum using appropriate literature, phonics and comprehension skills. The language arts units are based on social studies themes. "Hands-on" science focuses on scientific thinking strategies and includes the use of our science lab. While families of students applying for admissions are not necessarily required to be Christians, it is imperative that parents understand that one of the school's primary objectives is to lead students and their families into a personal and life-changing belief in Jesus Christ, and an ever-growing relationship with Him. Families considering enrolling their children at KCS should weigh this matter carefully, as it is a central focus of nearly everything that the school does. Students in grades 5-12 must be born-again Christians. Parents of each student must sign a Statement of Cooperation. A student is admitted to Alpine Christian Academy based on former school records and/or placement tests. In addition, an interview by the principal and a pastor's recommendation are required. The student's record is reviewed yearly for re-enrollment. Re-enrollment begins the first of March and is based on the student's progress and conduct. ACA accepts new applicants April 1st. Curriculum ACA uses the A Beka, Saxon , and other curricula. Students consistently score several years higher than the national norm on the Stanford Achievement Tests, and are receive a strong foundation in reading, phonics, penmanship, grammar, spelling, composition and mathematics.
