    Extractions: There are countless new compounds with spectular structures and wonderful properties left to discover. The underlying goal of all of our projects is to prepare such compounds. To date, we have focused on the preparation of new, early transition metal, lanthanide, and actinide containing compounds, as well as new arsenides and antimonides. In order to accomplish this, we rely upon non-traditional synthetic techniques, such as the use of supercritical fluids and reactive-fluxes. We have not only discovered unprecendented structures, but also unusual and potentially useful physical properties including new magnetic and luminescent materials. We have also recently prepared a series of compounds that are promising ion-exchange materials.
