Extractions: The manufacturer says . . . Chipcenter's Paul Schreier says . . . "We continue to expand the ADSP21xx line with this 160 MIPs ADSP2191," said Gerald McGuire, product line director, DSP Division. "We are committed to bring customers a simple upgrade path to increased performance, and extending the code-compatible architecture with high functionality and design flexibility at comparable prices." The ADSP2191 combines 64K words of on chip SRAM configured as 32K words of data memory, 32K words of program memory and access up to 16Mwords of external memory. It integrates three serial ports that support time-division multiplexing (TDM) of up to 128 channels per port, two serial peripheral interface (SPI) ports, a direct memory access (DMA) controller, one UART port, general purpose programmable flag pins, and an 8 or 16-bit host port interface. In addition, the ADSP2191 has four low-power options that can significantly reduce power dissipation when the device operates under standby conditions. This power saving capability is beneficial for reducing the power per port in telecommunications equipment and for reducing system cost by eliminating the need for additional power circuitry.
ChipCenter: The Web's Definitive Electronics Resource The std (test condition appendix C of 32 for telecomm) appears to permitme an out by stating I should test at the rated power of my equipment. http://www.chipcenter.com/eexpert/bkimmel/bkimmel035.html
Extractions: by Bill Kimmel Question: Dear Mr. Kimmel, Could you tell me if my telecommunication's product must be tested at just its rated power or must it be tested over its full operating range (70 - 500 watts - 230 Vac)? Typical power is 400 watts (with typical card installation) but may be used at lower input powers (less cards installed). I know that most IEC pubs require tests to be carried out at the "worst case" scenario but if I tested at the rated power of 400 watts this would not be the case. The std (test condition appendix C of 3-2 for telecomm) appears to permit me an out by stating I should test at the rated power of my equipment. I have had a few hints that there are some major changes with 61000-3-2 in the IEC process. Specifically with reference to Class D equipment but this is merely 2nd hand information. Is there a spot on the IEC website that presents what is being proposed so I could have more official info?
