Previously, standard RedHat 6.2 installation would not complete. After the hard drive swap, it did. snip Hello All Coming from DOS, I was startled to find that windows nt4.0 managed to read disks larger than the bios could "see" (if the right patches were applied.) GNU/Linux does it out of the box. I first read this in Britiain's Linux Format vol 23 pg 67 where the url http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Large-Disk-HOWTO-9.html is mentioned. Not following the suggestions, I tried another way: using an old 586 whose bios is limited to 8.3GB, the hda was an old 1.2GB so it was properly declared in the cmos. hdc was a 30GB drive but no entry was put in the cmos at all. Extractions: Le BIOS Bien connu pour ses cartes totalement jumperless, ABIT fournit ici sa KG7 avec le fameux SoftMenu III. Ici adapté à la DDR, il propose comme dhabitude le choix du FSB (de 100 à 200MHz, par pas de 1 MHz), la sélection du ratio PCI (1/3 ou 1/4), la sélection du voltage CPU (1.85v maximum), la sélection du VIO (3.5 ou 3.65v), mais aussi, la sélection du Voltage fourni à la mémoire DDR. La carte offre ainsi un panel de 16 voltages différents, sétalant de 2.47v à 3.06v (cest un peu trop haut à mon goût), qui pourra vous permettre de stabiliser votre RAM à haut FSB, si besoin est. Le voltage fourni par défaut est de 2.65v. Ce BIOS Award garde donc son aspect et ses options les plus classiques, sauf peut-être, dans la partie Advanced Chipset Features qui contient elle même une sous partie « Chipset Driving Control » contenant des dizaines doptions permettant de régler force et vitesse des signaux électriques de la carte. Intéressant peut-être, mais incompréhensible, voire même dangereux pour une grande majorité dutilisateurs. Evitez dy toucher, même par curiosité. De toute manière changer ces valeurs nauront effet que sur la stabilité. La carte étant déjà très stable dorigine, y compris overclockée, il ny a aucune raison dy toucher.
