Extractions: THOR HEYERDAHL EXPEDITIONS and ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE PACIFIC PEOPLES THOR HEYERDAHL Early Life Thor Heyerdahl is a world-renowned explorer and archaeologist. He was born in 1914, in Larvik, Norway. From his earliest days, he was an enthusiatic nature lover, and he was inspired by his mother (who was head of the local museum) to take an interest in zoology and nature. While still in primary school, he ran a one-room zoological museum from his home. Mr. Heyerdahl later enrolled at the University of Oslo, where he specialized in zoology and geography until leaving on his first expedition to Polynesia in 1937-1938. The First Expeditions to Polynesia (1937-38) and Northwest America (1940-41) Abandoning his study of zoology, Heyerdahl began an intensive study of testing his theory on the origins of the Polynesian race and culture. He suggested that migration to Polynesia had followed the natural North Pacific conveyor, therefore turning his search for origins to the coasts of British Columbia and Peru. While working at the Museum of British Columbia, Heyerdahl first published his theory (International Science, New York, 1941) that Polynesia had been reached by two successive waves of immigrants. His theory suggested that the first wave had reached Polynesia via Peru and Easter Island on balsa rafts. Centuries later, a second ethnic group reached Hawaii in large double-canoes from British Columbia. The results of Heyerdahl's research were later published in his 800-page volume, American Indians in the Pacific (Stockholm, London, Chicago, 1952).
German Boys Clothes: Regional Differences on the various German states for the royalty satellote site. asia. Web Site IntroductionActivities Bibliographies biographies Chronology Clothing http://histclo.hispeed.com/country/ger/reg/ger-reg.html
Extractions: Figure 1.British boys often wore salor caps with popular ships on the tally or cap band. German boys often haf their rgion emblazoned on their cap tallies. Germany until relatively recently was divided into a number of destinct states with sibstantial social, cultural, political, and religious differences. Only in 1870 was a unified German Empire formed and even then substantial differences remained among member states. It was not until the Weimar Republic and even more so the Third Reich that the destinct legal and cultural differences of the German states began to breakdown. HBC at this time has only limited information on the extent to which these differences were reflected in clothing. Much of the information that we do have concerns areas that are no longer part of Germany (Alsace-Loraine and the Sudetenland). We have developed some information on the various German states for the Royalty satellote site. Hopefully our German readers will provide us more details about regional clothing differences in Germany Germany as a unified country only dates from the 1870s. Even after unification there were considerable differences in clothing style among different German states. Since the Werimar-NAZI era (1919-1945), these differences have gradually disappeared. In today's modern Germany, while there are differences in folk costume among different regions, there is virtually no difference in the ordinary clothes worn by German boys.

For the uninitiated, Epimetheus, would you give our reader a brief explanation from your extensive experiences? Epimetheus, (Afterthought): After all these years and all that has already been written and said about mythology I will try my best to be interesting and informative to your readers, viewers, listeners and callers. In my view, Mythology is both the literature of origins and the original literature. It is characterized by and with the deeds of the Beautiful and the Beastly and is immensely interesting form of entertainment! Dear Brother, I know you will agree that it is also at times a fanciful family history. YEK the gods!!! The stories of the gods and demigods; goddesses and demigoddesses, be they kind or cruel, have always generated a large following especially among theologians and divinity students who are looking for moral imperatives and ritual antecedents. I am especially partial to stories dug up by Archeologists who are easy to excite and get worked up about the tales of ordinary men and women whose initial actions over time are exaggerated and overblown. These ordinary beings are frequently elevated into cult heroes, superstars, and occasionally divine status with their depiction in sculpture, painting and all sorts of bric-a-brac and making them famous for more than the 15 minutes allotted to modern man.
A Tribute To Hinduism - Suvarnabhumi thought. The southeastern region of asia both mainland islands of Java and Borneo, from oceania to Socotra source German Indologists biographies of Scholars http://www.atributetohinduism.com/Suvarnabhumi.htm
Extractions: h o m e s u v a r n a b h u m i : g r e a t e r i n d i a c o n t e n t s Only Since World War II has the term Southeast Asia been used to describe the area to the east of India and to the south of China, which includes the Indo-Chinese Peninsula, the Malay Archipelago and the Philippines, roughly forming a circle from Burma through Indonesia to Vietnam. Before the term Southeast Asia became common usage, the region was often described as Further or Greater India, and it was common to describe the Indonesian region or Malay Archipelago as the East Indies. The reason may be found in the fact that, prior to Western dominance, Southeast Asia was closely allied to India culturally and commercially. The history of Indian expansion covers a period of more than fifteen hundred years. This region was broadly referred to by ancient Indians as Suvarnabhumi (the Land of Gold) or Suvarnadvipa (the Island of Gold), although scholars dispute its exact definition. Sometimes the term is interpreted to mean only Indonesia or Sumatra. Arab writers such as Al Biruni testify that Indians called the whole Southeast region Suwarndib (Suvarnadvipa). Hellenistic geographers knew the area as the Golden Ghersonese. The Chinese called it Kin-Lin; Kin means gold. During the last two thousand years, this region has come under the influence of practically all the major civilizations of the world: Indian, Chinese, Islamic, and Western. Of these, Indian culture appears to have blended best with the indigenous culture.
