Awesome Teacher Resource
The Teacher's Right Hand is an educator's dream.It really does have practical, ready to use activities.I refer to this resource several times a week, and my students thoroughly enjoy the teacher-created games.If you are a middle school educator, this book is a must have!

Excellent Resource For Teachers and Parents
I found this book to be an excellent resource for teachers and parents.This book has numerous activities that can be used either in the classroom or by parents at home.I found each of the activities to be very detailed, outlining the objectives, and needed materials. The book contains numerous reproducible transparencies and worksheets.

What a wonderful way of teaching. Bravo!
Susan Hogan's book is a fascinating exploration of several different cultures through their art, their customs, geography and history. Her insight into the nature of the different societies brings a deep understanding of how art has been interwoven with the needs and rituals of that society. It also points out the need for us to use our hands, our minds and emotions - expecially in this electronic age. It brings us back to ourselves, to make these things with our hands. I have worked with children of different ages for more than a decade. I find the students really enjoy the easy to do projects that help them produce beautiful articles they can actually use. What a wonderful way of teaching. Bravo!

This book is not going to get dusty on the shelf. Not what I expected.
With a title like "Lesson Plans for the Busy Librarian," this book seemed like a must have for me, a busy librarian. When I received the item I was very disappointed to find that none of the lessons were that unique or interesting. In addition to being the same old thing, the clip art is subpar, and the organization is very random. Let me just say this, I have owned the book for over a year and am yet to use a single lesson plan from it.

Save your money...
As a "busy librarian" the title drew the money from me in a hurry, but I was disappointed by the lack of depth- lots of coloring!Occasionally I use some of the reproducibles when I have a sub, however the quality of the graphics are poor.

Better books out there
I am an elementary school librarian. While this book has a few good lesson plans, I find the majority of them to be overly simplistic. Also, a lot of the graphics on the reproducibles are of very poor quality.

Time saver for teachers too!
Although directed to librarians, this book is also fantastic for elementary teachers.It's indexed to the Language Arts standards, learning styles and Multiple Intelligences. It contains patterns, instructions, hands-on activities and more, for literature-based multi-disciplinary units.A super resource! ... Read more

A must have book for the writer and teacher
I have been writing and teaching writing and workshops for 12 years. Michael's book is one of those I can't get by without. Simple enough for kids and as valuable for beginners and advanced writers. I love it!

An excellent book for teaching poetry in an unusual way
Michael Carey does an excellent job of explaining what poetry really is and shows you how to get your students or yourself to push the limits of their/your creative thought.He uses the knowledge of metaphors andsimilies in all of his poetry writing assignments.By the time you aredone, you start to see metaphors and similies all over the place.I haveused this as a teacher for three years.One students said, "I neverliked poetry before but now that I understand it, I love it." ... Useful worksheets - skip the quizzes
I used several of the worksheets from this book while teaching Huck Finn to my juniors. Each worksheet covers 3-4 chapters and one term or technique (satire, dialect, setting, narrator, tone, details, character, theme). It's a good way to introduce these, or to check for understanding. The worksheets also had enough detail that a sub used two with success while I was out. I gave it 4 stars because the questions on the quizzes and final test seemed like random facts, and most did not go deeper into analysis. There is, however, a good resource at the back with ideas for projects and essays. I would use this book again, and I would buy other products from Secondary Solutions.

I have looked everywhere for materials to help me teach my 11th graders the novels that are required, but still meet the content standards for Florida.Everything from the vocabulary activities to the post-reading activites are great.I would recommend this guide to all teachers--much better than Teacher Created Materials. ... Empowering
I have been a teacher for many years and have been searching for a tool like this book for a long time! After pouring over the pages with delight, I feel empowered to be a better teacher.
