Unreadable
This "book" appears to have been machine translated from Chinese or some other Asian language, judging from the syntax and "interesting" word choices. The layout is impossible to follow (new chapters start at the bottoms of pages, for example), and the text has absolutely no understandable organizational principles. The book will talk about filters, then jump into a description of a couple of fish, then go to another topic, then throw in another couple of fish. It's impossible to follow what's going on, though the word choices can add a lot of humor if you read the book aloud to your colleagues.

Summary: This book is just awful.

You get what you pay for. I recommend spending a bit more and getting a "real" book for your Kindle. This was one of my earlier purchases, and I guarantee I will not buy any book without a preview available again. ... Read more

There's something, well, fishy about this book.
Kindle books on aquaria are sparse.The offerings are mostly comprised of this same oddly titled "Tactics" book, by no less than fifteen "authors" and various price ranges. In addition, it's being hawked on a website under another name, for the low low introductory price of $9.95. I also found one of the chapters posted on a different website by yet another name.

I don't know what the deal is, or who actually wrote it and I don't care, but I do care about fish. I rarely write book reviews, but since no one else has, I felt compelled to warn people who were actually expecting to learn something about setting up an aquarium.

Examples of these nuggets of wisdom:

"The fishes are shaped like clumsy and squats combined really, and include a fishing rod."

"Plants must have fresh water and plenty of plant stuff."

"The (Carp) fish will die quickly, therefore, it is recommended you provide the fish their own separate aquarium."

"The water temperature should remain at 25 degrees Fahrenheit..." (Yikes, I wonder why they die quickly?)

"Reedfish require water temperature set at 73 degrees or 79 degrees Fahrenheit."(apparently nothing in between)

"This bona fid ugly marine fish comes from the family of Balistidae."

"Once you establish the type of fish, he will need to move on to choosing your tank." (Who's he?)

"Water filled tanks have natural bacterial productions, which must filter to settle to a secure level for fish to swim safely. After the water is set, you can use your test kit to decide if the water temperature and chemicals are balanced."

This guy is making it up as he goes along.I could forgive the glaring mistakes and egregious structure, but he tries to BS his way through the most basic, important aspect of fish keeping, the nitrogen cycle.

Water filled tanks do NOT have natural bacterial productions.A fishless tank of water will have 0 readings for ammonia, nitrite & nitrate, unless it's in your tap water.The good bacteria need a constant source of ammonia to get started, and it takes about 4 weeks of highly toxic ammonia and nitrite readings before the bacteria has built up enough to process it.Most fish are not hardy enough to withstand those levels of toxicity, so many fish die that are put into a new tank.Once the nitrogen cycle is complete, the colony of bacteria will immediately process the ammonia caused from fish waste and uneaten food into nitrite, and then the nitrite into nitrate, which is not toxic (except in extremely high levels).

To get the cycle started, some will use hardy and inexpensive fish, such zebra danios. An even better method is to dose the tank daily with pure household ammonia, or use filter media from another established tank. Standing aquarium water does nothing to "set" or ready itself for fish, nor does the snake oil now being sold as "instant cycling."

Speaking of snake oil,get a load of the Table of Contents.Just reviewing the 48 chapter titles tells you the book is all over the place.
