5-0 out of 5 stars A must for every classroom and every parent
There is really no need to discuss the accuracy and wealth of material represented in this exciting new calendar -- everyone knows that the American Museum of Natural History is the richest source for anything relating to dinosaurs. But the style, the charm, and the quality of the illustrations, so beautifully painted by science illustrator and fine artist Ivy Rutzky are exceptional, and must be praised and highly recommended.

Almost all children have a serious interest in Dinosaurs. What child would not love to color his or her own calendar picture every month, and mark special days with the stickers provided? They will laugh over the two fierce animals banging heads as they fight, and adore the little baby dinosaurs hatching from their eggs. This calendar is a must for every classroom and every parent. It will provide hours of occupation for children, and quite possibly creative adults with a scientific bend will enjoy it too. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Takes the boring out of a rainy day

5-0 out of 5 stars Review from [...]
Finally, this one is for the parents who squirm when their child produces a blank piece of paper with a crayon and requests "Can you draw a dinosaur for me?"Aaargh. I have little to no artistic ability and my dinosaurs looks more like ... blobs with claws. Thank goodness for this clever book!

Here, an actual artist has drawn ten dinosaurs that far surpass my blob results, and actually look like the dinosaurs they are supposed to be!Your child cuts out the individual body parts, then assembles them to create an army of ferocious dinosaurs. The pages are perforated for easy removal and each piece is marked on the back with a letter key for easy assembly. It gets better. For each fully colored page, there is also a separate page with black and white line drawing of the same dinosaur. Identical set up, but these are perfect for kids that want to exercise more creativity by coloring in the dinosaurs themselves.

The first few pages of the book contain a short paragraph of information on each dinosaur, including body measurements, diet and a brief general summary. In case your kids are particular about the dinosaurs they construct, the choices are as follows: Allosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Baryonyx, Brachiosaurus, Ouranosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Pteranodon, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex.

This was an instant hit at our house. I produced the book, scissors, colored pencils and we started right in. A word of caution - you do have to purchase mini brads or fasteners so that the parts will be movable. We were delighted to find that the assembly directions are super easy to follow: place the pieces face down and match A Front to A Back, B Front to B Back, and so on. We put together a few of the preprinted dinosaurs first to get a feel for it, and then we turned to the black and white pages to test our creativity.Hey, nobody really knows what color the real dinosaurs were anyway, right?

I really loved that this was pretty much a fuss free craft. No glitter, no glue, no paints. There was no maze of confusing instructions to navigate, resulting in a lot of shushing as "Mommy figures out what this means." Older children could absolutely be handed this book and not need any assistance whatsoever.Plus, once we were done with our crafting, we had a little herd of realistic dinosaurs that were ready for battle. The perfect activity book!

Figures in Motion also offers another cut and assemble book, Famous Figures of Ancient Times.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fantastic set of movable paper figures of eleven famous dinosaurs to cut, color and assemble
"Dinosaurs On The Move: Movable Paper Figures To Cut, Color, and Assemble" is a fantastic set of movable paper figures of eleven famous dinosaurs to cut, color and assemble. The first chapter, titled "Dinosauria," presents brief illustrated paragraphs about each of the model dinosaurs that are included for construction. From Brachiosaurus to the dread Tyrannosaurus Rex, here the creative student will find a fascinating series of educational animal activities that will educate and excite all. Designed to be accessible for children age 6-12, "Dinosaurs On the Move" is a sure key to fan creativity while teaching natural history. Clear instructions and letter-sequenced moving dinosaur parts make the assembling easy to understand, while both colored and blank black and white dinosaur specimens allow for further artistic embellishment and coloring activities.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brings learning and playing together
Interested in a book that combines arts and crafts, science and imaginative play? Know a child who loves dinosaurs? Looking for a rainy day project that extends the play and learning potential for months to come? Dinosaurs on the Move is all that. The latest movable figures book by Cathy Diez-Luckie and Figures in Motion features an inspiring selection of carnivore, herbivore and flying dinosaurs that kids can cut out and piece together to create formidable creatures to fuel imaginative play and stimulate further learning.

Dinosaurs on the Move provides ten different types of dinosaurs for cutting and creating, such as Ankylosaurus, Pteranodon, Baryonyx and of course the classic Tyrannosaurus Rex. Kids ages 6 - 12 years old might enjoy cutting out the pieces of each creature, and they can choose between the pre-colored figures or ones they can color in themselves. Required materials include 1/8" round hole punch and mini brads or brass fasteners for attaching the parts together. As these figures are not perforated, there is quite a bit of cutting necessary, and adult assistants may be requested for some of the work. The pages are made of sturdy cardstock that will extend the entertainment and learning value, so kids can use their imagination to play with these fun and fierce dinosaurs for quite a while.

The first section of Dinosaurs on the Move provides small entries regarding the statistics, diet and key features of each dinosaur to stimulate interest and expand knowledge. At the very least, kids will learn nifty facts in this "Dinosauria," but if you have a real dino-lover on your hands, these little factoids may well serve to stimulate further learning beyond this book.

If you enjoy this book, you may want to explore the other title in the publisher's "Famous Figures" series called Famous Figures of Ancient Times, also illustrated by Diez-Luckie. And we can look forward to more movable figures books highlighting Medieval times, the Renaissance, U.S. history and the Bible.

Product Description
Children will enjoy endless, interactive fun with the sixth title in the My First Jumbo Book series.

Children will love learning about all kinds of dinosaurs in this jumbo book that's chock-full of fabulous, interactive elements.Kids can make an archaeopteryx fly, touch a giant T-rex pop-up, pull the tab to make two prenocephales fight...and more!Amazon.com Review
It seems that kids are programmed to love dinosaurs. Is the appeal that these wild-looking reptiles seem imaginary, like dragons and unicorns, but they are (well, were) actually real? Whatever the source of the extinct creature's mysterious magnetism, this pop-up, touch-and-feel, lift-the-flap dino-centric version of Scholastic's "My First Jumbo Book..." series (My First Jumbo Book of Colors, My First Jumbo Book of Shapes, etc.) will only encourage young dinophiles.

The sturdy, colorful, cartoonish book has only five double-page spreads total, but four of the spreads illustrate and identify six-to-seven different kinds of dinosaurs. Children can feel the bumpy scales of the barapasaurus (pronunciation guide included beneath each name), lure the ornitholestes out of its ferny hiding place, ease the maiasaura from its egg, or force the coelophysis to engage in some mildly aerobic exercise. On the last spread, in the shadow of a looming pop-up T-rex, kids are challenged to identify five dinosaurs from their skeletons and lift the flaps for the answers. Parents and educators seeking a meatier introduction to dinosaurs might want to look to DK's A Big Book of Dinosaurs: A First Book for Young Children, as this interactive novelty book has no descriptive text at all. 4-0 out of 5 stars A little flimsy
The book is lots of fun to read with my 3 year old son, but unfortunately I can't leave him unattended with the book.It has a lot of parts that a 3 year old can easily break off. There is proper pronunciation of the names included, which is great help, as I wouldn't be able to pronounce with out it.

5-0 out of 5 stars great book
I got this for my granddaughter, who loves dinosaurs. This is a great book for a toddler, she plays with the dinosaur figures and reads them the book, so cute. good price as well

5-0 out of 5 stars Son's favorite book!
I have 2 boys ages 3 and 5 and they both LOVE to look at the pictures and play with the pop-ups and other moving parts. We 'read' this book at least twice a day.The boys make up stories for what each page shows.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids love dinosaurs!
I bought this and a few other dinosaur books for my 2 year old.I like this one the best.It has a few pull tabs and movements that my kid loves, but not too many.I really like the pronunciation guides for the dinosaur names. And it is priceless to hear my two year old say "dinosaurs, bump heads" and I say which ones, and he says "pre - no - seph- lee"Great dinosaur enjoyment for the little ones, and enough facts to keep preschoolers engaged without overwhelming them.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's OK
I was a bit disappointed. It was for my 3.5 year old, I think the book is a bit to young for him.The pictures are verycartoonish, therefore hard to distinguish between the dinosaurs.
My son loves it, but I think he will grow out of it very quickly. ... Read more
