Product Description
This book introduces, explores and clearly explains acupuncture and related techniques used in the treatment of children. The book introduces important concepts of childhood development that integrate conventional theories with the Traditional Chinese Medicine theories presented in the classic texts. It covers a variety of acupuncture techniques, including non-invasive approaches (such as electrical stimulation, laser and magnet therapy) which are particularly helpful with children. Since the modern child may already be taking medications with side effects, the book looks at acupuncture treatment for the side-effects of 20 common pediatric medications. Finally, full treatment protocols are given for 30 common pediatric conditions, with a particular emphasis on treatments which are safe, simple and readily accepted by children. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars not good
this book did not really give me much information about acupuncture in pediatrics since no detailed information were found although the title was attractive yet the content didnot attract me when i read the book

5-0 out of 5 stars A brilliant, must-have book for any holistic pediatric practice
I recently ordered this book for my holistic pediatric practice in Portland, Oregon and I must say it is one of the best written books I've seen on the topic of acupuncture with the pediatric population. The book is much more than that. Its a fusion of the "Western" and "Eastern/TCM" perspectives, written in such a way that the often sought correlations between the two systems of medicine are obvious and simple to understand. Dr. Loo has an undeniable command of TCM pediatrics. This book should grace the shelves of every TCM-based pediatric practice! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars History of Acupuncture Classics
These verses were first recorded in Wu Gao's book "A Collection of Outstanding Treatises in Acupuncture and Moxibustion (Zhen Jiu Ju Ying)" in the Ming Dynasty (1529). They were then included in another well-known Chinese medicine classic, "The Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (Zhen Jiu Da Cheng)" by Jizhou Yang (1601).
Acupuncture for A Hundred Diseases in Verse (known as "Bai Zheng Fu" in Chinese) summarizes the experience of how to choose the most effective acupuncture points (acupoints) for the treatment of about 100 diseases.
These diseases include twenty-eight ailments in the head and face, six diseases in the neck and throat, six diseases in the shoulder and back, seven gynecological diseases, one pediatric disease, five infectious diseases, and forty-three diseases in other categories such as psychological problems. Totally 156 acupuncture points are used for these diseases.
A broad range of diseases are covered, from complicated diseases such as diabetes to small problems such as twitching eyelids. Solutions for some of the health problems are hard to find elsewhere in common books, such as deafness caused by anger, and nightmares.
The Jade Dragon Verse of Using Acupuncture (known as "Yu Long Fu" in Chinese) uses "jade dragon" in its name to indicate its great value. This verse summarizes the experience of how to choose the most effective acupuncture points (acupoints) for more than eighty diseases. These diseases include twenty-one ailments in the head, face, neck, shoulder, and back, and twenty-one diseases in the chest and four limbs. The verse provides the most useful acupuncture prescriptions for four gynecological and pediatric diseases, twenty-one internal diseases, and seventeen diseases in other categories. Totally 102 acupuncture points are used for these diseases.
The Jade Dragon Verse of Using Acupuncture uses many extra acupuncture points that are outside regular meridians or channels. In this English translation, locations of these points are added by the translator and listed at the end of the verse. This verse is one of the most popular acupuncture verses in Chinese medicine history. It was originally from Dr. Bian Que, one of the best physicians in Chinese history. He was called the "miraculous doctor" in China.
Understanding the Miracle and Essence of Acupuncture ("Tong Xuan Zhi Yao Fu" in Chinese) was written by a well-known acupuncturist Hanqing Dou (1196-1280) in the Yuan Dynasty. This verse summarizes the experience of how to choose the most effective acupuncture points (acupoints) for more than 50 diseases.
These diseases include different pain syndromes and ailments of the eyes, ears, teeth, and nose. Totally 43 acupoints are used for these diseases. Manipulation techniques and the application of basic theories are emphasized. This translation not only translates the language, but also provides explanations and some background knowledge of the history and legends in Chinese medicine.

1-0 out of 5 stars Misleading!
I am a student of Acupuncture currently working on a BSc degree in Oriental Medicine and bought this book for a research project on Acupuncture and Pain Management. Even though the author is a practiving Doctor of Naturopathy as well as Osteopathy, he has very little insight into Acupuncture. He calls TCM theory and diagnisis - which is the basis of successful Acupuncture - "antiquated Chinese mythology". Page 9 reads: "I (the authhor) maintain that much of what traditional acupuncturists hold to be true consists of theories and quaint explanations steeming from Chinese mythology and antiquity. The value of these to an age not versed in modern scientific terminology is obvious." One the same page ee also remarks that "Myths and antique phraseology are often perpetuated as a result of an inability to see what is real in the vast literature that has grown around this subject...". No TCM diagnosis is applied, no point selections guidelines are given, no treatment formulas suggested. The title of this book is misleading. It should be called "sticking a needle where it hurts - a guide for the ignorant".

2-0 out of 5 stars Another view
This author is obviously very well versed in alot of material as you know from everything he has written. He remarks that he will only use from acupuncture what is real and forget the hocus/pocus.I feel that Mr Chaitow highly underestimates the powers of acupuncture medicine. I am a western trained physician who has just trained in this ancient wonderful world of acupunture. There is no methodical or conceptual description for point selection, but a mere lists of points for pain in areas of the body. For headaches-points A,B & C. For backpain--points X,Y & Z, etc.I have no regrets in the purchase, but I like it only to supplement my other material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very, Very Good Charts

    Editorial Review

    Product Description

This exciting and comprehensive book gives a clear, detailed and accessible presentation of the core components of classical acupuncture, its philosophy as well as clinical applications.

The cosmological Daoism prevalent during the Han dynasty provided a foundation for the emerging acupuncture theory. In particular, the central tenant that Heaven Earth and humanity were connected via their origins, yuan qi, allowed for resonance between them. Hence observable patterns in Heaven and on Earth were reflected in the body.

Time measures the movements of heavenly bodies around earth. Concepts linked to time are woven into the fabric of acupuncture theory. Yin and yang interact and create the five elements, which are expressions of the qualities of the seasons. The number of main acupuncture points, flows of qi and blood, and even the meridian system itself, all has a relationship to time.

By taking account of the specific time of treatment as well as the energetic makeup of the individual you, as a practitioner, will learn to treat in harmony with the Dao of the patient and the Dao of now.

    • This book explores Heaven, Earth and Humanity, five phases, six divisions of yin and yang, in depth and with reference to classical sources.

    • This is the first fully comprehensive book to explore all of the concepts involved in stems and branches theory and to deal with its wider application.

    • Esoteric ideas which connect acupuncture with trigrams with numerology are examined.

    • This is the first book to explore the significance of the Han sky systematically and in depth in relation to classical acupuncture.

    • That each chapter covers philosophical theory and uses practical examples and exercise throughout marks this book out as unique among modern texts.

    • Easy to follow and easy to use

Acupuncture: How it Works, How it Cures gives a solidoverview of the theories behind the science, illustrating all the mainconcepts clearly and colorfully. The book explains how acupuncture canwork in conjunction with Western medicine, and it maps the differentmeridians, energy zones of the body that determine needleplacement. It also delineates the traditional Chinese medical conceptsof dampness, dryness, wind, cold, and heat, which acupuncturists useto diagnose patients. For example, a person whose pain spreadsthroughout the body would be said to have "an excess ofwind,&qout; and a person who is "too cold" will be lethargicand experience sharp, rather than aching, pain. Hill and Firebracelist dozens of ailments that acupuncture can treat, but they admit itslimits as well. The book also delves briefly into herbalism and listsresources for finding a practitioner. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction To Acupuncture
Firebrace has written an excellent introduction to acupuncture, especially for those interested in brevity and highly accessible reading.Recommended for those being treated with acupuncture or for those that may be interested in acupuncture treatment, but not in an exhaustive deliberation on Chinese medicine. If you desire a good basic understanding of this health system this book will serve you well.If you require more discussion and detail then start with "The Web That Has No Weaver," and branch out from there.

The text is somewhat dated, but this does not take away from the basics you will acquire from this reading. The case studies are not necessarily outdated in this case, as they are used to illustrate a concept that holds true regardless of historical context.

Again, this book amply serves its purpose as a basic introduction.Take it for what it is and you will not be disappointed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Out of date
The book is OK for the layman. However it doesn't really get into how it works and how it cures. The case studies are also very old. However, it is an easy read and great for those who have never heard of Chinese Medicine before.

    A better book is

Elegant in the simplicity of its application and balance. From the symbiotic relationship of the yin/yang to the scholarly dedication to the principles of TCM, this work is done right. For a subject that can easily "numb" a reader when poorly formatted this book employs an even-handed approach that engages the reader as if the author were present. Product Description
Addressing acupuncture form a unique perspective, Acupuncture: An Anatomical-Based Approach abandons the traditional oriental medicine approach in favor of a carefully analytic scientific presentation. The tightly-focused book describes the progression of chronic pain in the peripheral nervous system, demonstrating that points conducting pain impulses through the peripheral nerves become more tender to palpation throughout life in response to episodes of pain, and they do this in a predictable sequence. This sequence, expressed as a "pain quantification," has important prognostic significance to the person's response, not just to acupuncture, but also to any other intervention. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Anatomic based acupuncture
I have been using this book by Dr Dung the last three years. It is a revolutionary book in Acupuncture. You can say this is the Western approach to this complex field.I salute Dr Dung for his enormous effort and research.I do recommend also the Biomedical approach to acupuncture as a companion book,it helps clarify Dr Dung's approach.

5-0 out of 5 stars Two Thumbs Up
I am an actively practicing Osteopathic Family Physician.I incorporate a lot of manipulation and trigger point injections into my practice.I have been studying acupuncture (Traditional Chinese Medicine) now for about six months.TCM acupuncture is difficult for my western trained brain to grab a hold of and to be able to put into practical application.Anatomical Acupuncture is a breath of fresh air. This is a book that I, again as a western trained physician, can immediately grasp and immediately implement in my own clinical practice.I have already begun treating a few select patients based on what I learned in this book and am already seeing postive clinical outcomes.I highly recommend this book to you.You won't be disappointed.Well worth the investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Without the hocus-pocus
Insightful book that attempts to explain acupuncture from a scientific physiologic bent without the hocus-pocus found in a lot of acupuncture books written today.

After reading a lot of acupuncture books about the weird "pulse diagnosis," the mysterious "chi" (from those Kung Fu movies where the Kung Fu fighters all seem to have superhuman abilities--maybe the NBA should sign them up for a multimillion dollar contract, they should play a mean game of basketball), and those strange chi "meridians" that connect the "triple burner" to the "governor vessel" to the kitchen sink and how acupuncture should only be performed by a man with a red carnation at certain times of the day when the sun and moon and Mercury and Jupiter are in "harmony" with each other under the direction of an astrologist who is wearing green suspenders, I got so sick that I just wanted to vomit.

This book cuts out all those outdated, mystic, superstitious, ideas that were used to explain acupuncture in medieval times, and brings it more into accord with 21st Century thinking grounded on the laws of physics, chemistry and physiology.

It's been a breath of fresh air reading this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A logical, medical science based approach to acupuncture
As a physician, I have found Dr. Dung's approach offers the most logical and reasonable means of understanding and using acupuncture as a pain relieving modality for everyday clinical practice.A simple review of a bit of gross anatomy (emphasizing the peripheral nervous system) is recommended.Any well motivated and prudent physician can begin using this information fairly rapidly and will soon see that allegiance to "Yin/Yang" theory and other philosophical constructs is unnecessary.Neuromodulation is based on basic science research and is the logical basis of this wonderful (but underutilized) modality.I highly recommend this book to any physician/dentist who has had interest in acupuncture but was turned off by the metaphysical baggage it has carried (until now). ... This is the most complete reference book for meridans and acupuncture points that I've seen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Acupuncture, Meridian Theory and Acupuncture Points
Summary: The meridian theory is an important component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is the study of the physiological function and pathological change on the meridians, and their related zangfu organs. The essential functions of the meridian system are to "transport qi and blood," "to maintain conductivity" and "to resist invasion of exogenous pathogenic factors." The meridian system distributes to all parts of the body. the endless circulation of qi and blood in the meridians is responsible for the maintenance of life and the variety of functions which support it. Over the last two thousand years, the meridian theory has been the guiding principle for the clinical practice in the realms of TCM, particularly in those of acupuncture, massage, and qigong. By combining the meridian theory with the theory of the zangfu organs and the etiology of TCM, one can thoroughly explain both the physiological activities and pathological change which take place in the body. In this manner, a theoretical basis for the principle of treatment in accordance with the differentiation of symptoms and signs was established. Physicians throughout Chinese history have all paid great attention to the study of meridians, which has now become an independent branch of learning in acupuncture and moxibustion

The book is based on finding the answers in two other books (I didn't find that out until I bought it)
The re-shelving cost was as much as the book, so I kept it.
So, not usable as a teaching / learning tool unless you have the other two books but one is out of print and the other has revised and so the "refer to" pages are not there.

3-0 out of 5 stars "Seemingly" Energized!
I have enjoyed working the problems in this "workbook" and have found the conceptual material good.It might help to know that this book depends heavily on two other works, namely: The Web That Has No Weaver : Understanding Chinese Medicine and Essentials of Chinese Acupuncture.Without these works, the workbook depends heavily on ones own knowledge, which makes it somewhat pointless. That being said, there is a weath of useful information and I found a new and simpler way to look at patients, patterns and treatment philosophy.I have also been reading Miriam Lee's Insights of a Senior Acupuncturist which has had a powerful influence on the way I look at treatment. This book does require some clinical experience and may not be for the beginning student.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical and Conveys Conceptual Understanding
I found this book to be more practical than most books on the subject, and it also gives a good conceptual understanding -- something all too rare, in this area.

If you want to learn what really works, is practical, and learn to go beyond using approaches that are like mechanical, rote formulas...you'll like this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE only Acupuncture Atlas you will ever need !
I don't think any one can make such an excellent book in this field again, the pictures seem like they will jump at you from the page, no ambiguity at all, makes it so easy to find all points, beautiful , detailed and easy to read.
I'm so happy I bought it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply One Word for this Book - OUTSTANDING!!
This book is a model for what books of this type should be.Loaded with graphics, "see through" diagrams of points with underlying bones and other structures and beautiful detailed anatomical drawings showing underlying and nearby structures. Instead of long winded verbal passages filled with equivocal interpretations, meanings and verbiage, we have instead, detailed point location and palpation descriptions supported with the extensive and superb graphics.

The only other book in its class is the beautiful work by Dr. Paul Quirico.

Outstandingly good and a pleasant surprise in a field filled with overpriced hastily written and poorly written books.

4-0 out of 5 stars Quite a good point location atlas
One of the strengths of this book, to me, is that it does NOT have all the "indications" and collections of symptoms that you find in Deadman's "A Manual of Acupuncture."Instead, this book helps you understand the energetic actions of the points, and the complex pathways of the channels, so you have some of the tools necessary for developing individualized treatments.Point location descriptions are excellent, and the diagrams and photographs are clear and accurate. Each statement is cross-referenced to other relevant sections of the book, with dozens of cross-references on each page.Coming from the German and French experience with acupuncture, this book owes a lot to Dr. Nguyen Van Nghi's lifetime of classical study, and he is mentioned throughout the book. While this is not a pocket lab manual, it has my vote as the current leader among point atlases. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Smart Practitioners'Preferred Medical Textbook
BIOMEDICINE is an informative text written in an easy to understand style by an insightful former surgeon. When I want an encapsulation of Western medicine's take regarding a patient's health condition, this is the first book to which I turn. I have on occasion sent a grateful patient home with an excerpt from BIOMEDICINE because it so clearly describes their medical diagnosis in language anyone can comprehend. I've even recommended that my TCM alma mater consider adopting this textbook for their Western Medicine classes. This book has elevated my professional standard by allowing me to collaborate intelligently with MD's.Dr. Robinson knows how "both sides" think - he is uniquely qualified to write about truly integrated medicine.

I have no medical background or plans for a medical career, but I love
and value this book. I use it as a constant reference and am also reading
it in its entirety, as it is alive, real and straightforward.Dr. Robinson's personal
anecdotes from his vast experience add much to his explanations and make
the complicated world of medicine much easier to understand. He obviously
has taken great care in his presentation and put much thought into writing
this concise and well-organized textbook, one that I also believe can serve
as a lay person's general medical reference. ... Read more

An in-depth discussion of the derivation and clinical applications of hundreds of the most commonly used acupuncture points. 'Images' are the mental pictures and associations suggested by the Chinese characters which comprise the names of the points. 'Functions' are the energetic actions of the points themselves.

In this richly-researched book prepared in consultation with leading Chinese scholars, the author presents the images and functions, location, classification, indications and contraindications for each of the points. An extensive repertory of traditional functions and patterns with their associated points, organized in table format, enables the practitioner to move quickly from diagnosis to prescription of appropriate points.

Also included is a Chinese character dictionary in which various meanings of the Chinese characters used in the point names are identified, and different points whose names share the same characters are noted. An index of points arranged by channel, alphanumeric number, pinyin and English is provided for easy reference to the points in the book. ... Read more

the seller was great but the book is only for acupuncture doctors and students i got it for useing my electronic machine but it has no charts only medical descriptions of acupuncture point locations. useless unless you are a doctor

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good reference book!
The major points are covered in good detail and I carry it with me at all times for backup study.

Would be much better if it had illustrated charts of the meridians though. You will need to print one out for reference.

5-0 out of 5 stars great book
I really enjoyed and value this book it presents the information not only about the location of the points but the image of each i.e. how it was named and the reason it is named the way it is.Also it gives a summation of key points and how points are linked. Excellent for anyone interested in the "ART" of chinese medicine not just a linear study of this ancient way of healing

5-0 out of 5 stars An acupuncturist's bible.

    Editorial Review

    Product Description
For the past ten years, Andy Rosenfarb has successfully used acupuncture and Chinese medicine to treat a wide range of eye conditions. His treatments include moxibustion techniques, tuina (massage), microcurrent stimulation, Chinese herbs, and qigong exercises, along with “essential acupuncture” where essential oils are placed on acupuncture points. The culmination of his work—which includes a recent pioneering study involving metabolic testing–is this handbook for healing the kinds of conditions too often considered almost impossibly challenging or irreversible.

The first half of Healing Your Eyes with Chinese Medicine explains Traditional Chinese Medicine and its perspective on the eyes, which is based on the idea that the eyes and the brain work in tandem, not isolation. The second half focuses on proven methods derived from Rosenfarb’s practice, including nutritional, supplemental, and lifestyle adjustments. Individual chapters cover eye disorders such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, and many more. This book is intended as a practical manual to help readers understand their eyes and vision more comprehensively, and to learn new, affordable ways for retaining the precious gift of sight. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Eye Care!
This is an easy to follow, useful guide to eye care for all eye problems. Lots of specific exercises and herbal formulas. Very inspiring, helpful and rewarding. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to maintain or to improve on the health of their eyes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not so much for laypeople, but gives a LOT of hope.
I've got an old friend Andy who taught me to play poker years ago.He recently was stricken with age-related macular degeneration.Right when he reached his retirement years and can play a lot of poker - he can't anymore.

My "new" friend Andy - the guy who wrote this book - gave me a lot of hope for my old friend. As he said to me in an email:

"FYI, no one is too far gone in my experience.I've had some crazy success cases of people whom I thought would not get any results. As long as there is still a pulse, there is still hope..."

Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can often help when nothing else will. The reason is that drugs rarely cure anything. Most drugs do one of two things. They kill something (in the case of antibiotics or chemotherapy drugs).Or, they react with receptors on cells (by blocking, interfering or activating the receptor).Cell receptors react to biomolecules such as hormones, neurotransmitters, etc.

The problem is this doesn't cause healing - it merely blocks symptoms.Acupuncture and Chinese medicine works by helping the body's natural healing mechanisms take over.Only your body can heal itself - nothing else.Even the greatest surgeon can't heal the smallest cut.

Andy just had an article printed about macular degeneration in Acupuncture Today. You can search for it at their site. According to the article, he's had an 80% success rate.If you're interested in treatment for age related macular degeneration, it's an excellent article. It will tell you if this book is for you.

If you're interested in treatment for other eye conditions and want to know if this book addresses it, you can search inside this book - click on the book cover, above.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wish I had read this book in acupuncture school....
Another reviewer wrote that this book is not geared towards practitioners, I disagree as I was able to immediately use much of the information in my clinic.

I graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 2002 and have been fortunate to operate an extremely busy Chinese Medicine practice since early 2003.I also participate in NIH funded research on Chinese Medicine through UMDNJ (University of Medicine and Dentistry, NJ).Over 90% of my patients are "medical throw-aways" who come to Chinese Medicine as a last resort after conventional medicine has failed.A significant percentage of these patients have been those with degenerative eye disorders.

After reading Andy's book on eye and vision disorders, I feel that this book should be a required text in modern acupuncture schools. When I was in school there were no books devoted to the exclusive practice of Chinese opthamology within a modern clinical setting. What little material I read on Chinese opthamology was isolated to theory and pattern discrimination...and of limited help in real world practice. If I had read this book four years ago when I started my practice, I would have had a greater success rate with my opthamology patients.

The information in this book reveals why Andy is considered by other acupuncturists to be a leading authority on traditional Chinese opthamology. This book is clearly a labor of love as he gives away many of the "secrets" that he has learned from specializing in eye disorders for the past 10 years.Any acupuncturist looking to specialize in eye disorders needs to read this book. There is a detailed explanation of Chinese meridian theory and how each elemental pair relates to treating certain eye disorders, and even after years of working as a professional acupuncturist I was able to find new information in this section.Yet what makes this book different from conventional text books is the conversational style of teaching that the author has, and the large amount of "real world" information presented that is only available from someone who has experienced plenty of success (as well as early failures) in his field.

For example, the book integrates Western and Eastern medical theories by breaking down the different part of the eye into their five element classifications (ie: sclera=metal, macula=water) and how specific western diagnoses of eye disorders such as age-related macular degeneration can be treated using traditional zhang-fu and meridian theory. His categorization of various opthamological diseases into five-element theory is then used to explain how the most common Chinese herbal formulas can be used to treat different disorders such as diabetic retinopathy and myopia.Additionally, there is information on the use of self-care exercises for the eyes, a unique explanation of essential oil therapy using Chinese theories, micro-current stimulation, and an explanation of how modern visual acuity tests can be integrated into a Chinese Medicine practice. Most of the above information I have not found in other texts.

As an acupuncturist I found this book to be a goldmine of clinical information for my practice. But if you are suffering from degenerative vision loss and are looking for alternative treatments, I feel that this book would be an excellent start to learn more about natural methods for healing the eyes.I have treated many patients with degenerative eye disorders and I know how terrifying the experience can be...but there is hope if you remain persistent in your search and keep an open mind.Knowledge and understanding will always overcome fear, and this book will give you a new level of understanding if you suffer from vision loss.Admittedly, there may be some parts of the book that might be difficult for the lay person to understand. The information has not been watered down and the author assumes that you have an intense interest in the subject. You will have to read the theory section in the first few chapters several times to be able to understand the more detailed information in the second half of the book, but this is to be expected as Chinese Medicine is a vast subject that takes many years to grasp.

Bottom line: Highly recommended for both clinicians and patients.Five Stars!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for patients and practitioners alike
This book is written in a way that both patients and practitioners alike will be able to get a lot out of it.The layout is clear, and it is very readable.

I was drawn into the book from the beginning.Even though I am very well acquainted with the basics of Chinese medicine and the organ functions, they are presented an a different context in this book.Everything is given within the context of the eyes and eye diseases. This allowed me to take the knowledge that I had on treatment principles in general, and apply it to eye patterns.

Perhaps the most outstanding aspect of the book is the holistic approach presented to working on eye diseases. There is information on lifestyle, eye exercises, qigong, herbs, acupressure, acupuncture, essential oils, magnets, and moxibustion. All of this information can be used by practitioners to improve their ability to treat eye problems.More importantly, it is written in a way that the patient can go home and do eye exercises, qigong, acupressure, or any of the other home treatment modalities presented in this book to further their eye health.

    Overall an excellent book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Book for Practitioners
This book helped to fill the gap of this specialty. Andy gave descriptions of terms I have never heard of before that allowed me to appreciate it even more instead of hearing all the same 'ole boring descriptions/definitions that many others use or copy from other books.

The chapters were well organized and well suited for the beginner who wants to understand the organ functions pertaining to Chinese medicine and how a practitioner will treat eye disorders.

I now know what "snail-shell moxa" is by the pictures in the book.

Relating the western diagnosis to Chinese medical terms make this book useful and important to the practitioner as well as the authors own clinical experience he shares in this book.

I think anyone interested in vision health whether you are a practitioner or layperson will greatly benefit from this book. ... Read more
