4-0 out of 5 stars Acupressure points
I was looking for an acupressure book for dummies. I like this book because it doesn't assume you know anything. I hope to learn a lot about the stress relief points.

3-0 out of 5 stars Acupressure book
The book sounds good, I haven't used it too much yet, I think the key is to continuously apply acupressure, which takes time and most of the time, I don't have the time.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book
This books describes and illustrates nicely how to self administer accupressure to help lessen all types of symptons, from mild depression, neck/back aches, anxiety and many more. I hope to see a 2nd printing soon!

5-0 out of 5 stars My first acupressuretext
This was the first text I bough before considering going to Acupuncture school.Still have it on my shelf.

4-0 out of 5 stars All the natural relief you need
This is a great book for the self-care individual as it's easy to apply and to read. It's a great resource to a professional as a key reference text as it's alphabetical order helps you get right to the point. As afore mentioned the book also has a `by system' search option as well. All in all it could be a little less repetitive but hey, a ton of studies show that repetition is the best way to retain information long term. Another good buy for holistic modality professionals is Meagan Holub's The Magic Touch: How to make $100,000 per year as a massage Therapist. Her book is formatted appropriately and provides invaluable instruction and insight into the business end of the profession as well as sections on Deep Tissue massage and the importance of healing oneself. ... Product Description
Increased stress and traumatic events in our lives have resulted in many millions of people who suffer from insomnia, nightmares, anxiety attacks, depression, and tension headaches.ACUPRESSURE FOR EMOTIONAL HEALING offers relief at your fingertips, quickly and safely, for a wide range of emotional problems. It explains how emotional distress becomes lodged in the body as muscular tension and blocked energy, and shows how acupressure can relieve not just the resulting physical symptoms, but also their emotional source--often without the need for extensive talk therapy or medication.

Acupressure stimulates the same points used in acupuncture, but instead of needles, firm finger pressure is used on the surface of the skin. The pressure releases neurochemicals called endorphins that relieve pain.As in acupuncture, specific pressure points are connected with internal organs and energy pathways in the body (called meridians) that regulate the flow of electrical energy to all systems.Unlike acupuncture, acupressure can be used safely by anyone, with only the hands as equipment.

ACUPRESSURE FOR EMOTIONAL HEALING offers a comprehensive A-Z guide to emotional ailments (from abandonment to worry and obsessive thinking), with fully-illustrated instruction on dozens of precise acupressure point locations and how to activate them, combined with yogic breathing, stretching, and movement routines.Case histories from the authors' practice further illuminate each condition and the path to emotional balance and healing. Most routines can be used independently for self-care and on-the-spot relief. There are also sections on how to use the techniques to helpothers, with appropriate safeguards. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very clear illustrations, both line drawings and photographs
This book is well thought-out and easy to use. It describes the points very well in the text and has excellent visuals; for each point or set of points, there is a line drawing that shows the point in relation to both bone and muscle, and a photograph with a dot over the point on a person's clothing. A book like this is only useful if you can find the acupressure points, and this is the best system I've seen. When the same points are recommended for different conditions, the descriptions and illustrations are also repeated. There's no flipping back and forth in the book to find the points you need, as each routine stands alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Should be printed in solid Gold
If I had the money, I would buy this book for every man, woman and child in the world....and it would be worth every penny. As someone who has tried many things to alleviate emotional and physical suffering, I found so many answers when I started to use this book.
Another reviewer said that life just got better and better...and I agree. We all have complex things that happen to us in the course of a lifetime; here is a way to finally let go and move forward.
Bravo to the authors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing book
This is a beautiful book. The information here is priceless, and it presents a wonderful way to assist in any self healing you may want to do.I have lent this book to friends going through different sorts of stresses and traumas.I think this is a great book to have in your home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Acupressure for Emotional Healing
The great thing about this book is that you can use it by yourself. It is designed to be used for self-help. However, it is also a must for a healer's library. The sections are divided by the type of emotional problem, then all the pressure points on the body are shown, and detailed instructions are provided to help the individual or healer work on that emotional problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Useful Guide
I will get my license in Clinical Massage Therapy next year. I will incorporate this guide into my practice. This book deals with help for a very wide range of negative and defeating emotions. I am learning, unreleased negative energy is often a very real contributor to chronic conditions, pain, tightness and stress. ... Read more

How acupressure works:

Acupressure and acupuncture share the same active points (alsocalled trigger points). The ancient Chinese developed system of active pointsstimulation over 5,000 years ago. The active points are located on imaginarylines called meridians. Accordingly, the points are referred to by the meridianthey are located on and consecutive number of point on that meridian.

The ancient Chinese believed that life energy chi (pronouncedchee) flows through these meridians. In a healthy person the energy flow troughmeridians is unobstructed. The blockade of chi flow results in an illness. TheChinese believed that active points stimulation clears the meridians and improvesthe flow of energy.

The western medical science only begins to understand the mechanismsresponsible for positive effects of active points stimulation. Stimulation ofactive points is thought to lead to increased release of endorphins. Endorphinis a natural body painkiller. Endorphin and morphine are chemically differentmolecules but, by coincidence, they have very similar 3-dimensional shape. Thissimilarity in shape allows morphine to bind the endorphin receptor, reduce pain, and induce feeling of happiness. Thus endorphin released by acupressure stimulationmay lead to relaxation and normalization of body functions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical manual. Precise diagrams.
This is a very good manual, don't expect detailed explanations because there aren't. However, the diagrams are clear, precise and even though they are in black and white images they show everything that is necessary.
I have no experience on acupressure and I can say that this manual is really useful. I have tried the explanations exposed here and to my surprise they really work! immediately, great, useful knowledge!

3-0 out of 5 stars Informative, But Poor Diagrams Make Implementation Difficult
This book is informative and provides a good explanation of the concepts of canine acupressure. However, rudimentary diagrams make it almost impossible to identify specific points on the body. Without this critical guide, the practical application of the information in this book, is limited.
When I purchased this book, it was my hope to add acupressure to the massage therapy I am able to provide for my dog. However, without a natural intuitive sense of these pressure points, I am at a loss to apply pressure without a specific diagram that would show me the exact location of the numerous points on the canine body.
It is a shame as it is basically a very fine book, but given the context, I consider the lack of exact direction in finding the acupressure points a significant flaw.

5-0 out of 5 stars Healing for Animals
I use Acupressure points in my Healing! Both Amy Snow and Nancy Zidonis (Acupressure for Horses) do an excellent job. The books are fairly easy to follow. I recommend both to my students.

2-0 out of 5 stars Layout is very difficult
Lack of an index makes this book difficult for the reader. Trying to find specific points is also challenging due tothe graphics used. I l was surprised to find so many typos which should have been caught before print.

5-0 out of 5 stars ACCUPRESURE

5-0 out of 5 stars Helped others as well as myself.
I first purchased this book in the fall of 2002, and proceeded to travel across the country in 2003 to accompany my sister to receive NAET treatments for both of us. Using the techniques, we have been able to help other people to understand the healing benefits of both the NAET treatments for allergies and the Living Pain Free treatments to save from many trips to a doctor or the hospital. Many have requested their own copies of this book, which I was able to acquire for them.
One example is of my niece-in law who was suffering alot of pain from what a doctor said was either a torn ligament in her knee, or perhaps a blood clot. She came to me, I showed her how to use the book, and after the treatment, she walked across the room without pain. She continued to treat herself at home and is doing much better, with no sign of a blood clot. Another friend suffered from MS and Fibromyalgia and migraines, requested her own copy of the book, and is also helping her mentally challenged daughter with multiple problems. Another friend was not able to cry, used the guidlines in the book, and now is able to cry over a sad movie etc!
I highly reccomend the book for those who are really sincere in self-help.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well illustrated and lots of symptoms covered
I recently purchased both this book and "Say Good-Bye to Your Allergies" by the same author. This is the much better book - actual information on treating particular symptoms, rather than an extended apology for her NAET system of allergy treatment. The only thing that I really found more distracting than helpful was the use of medical terms when navigating to particular pressure points.I've read several books on accupressure, and this is the only one that requires a decent knowledge of 'Gray's Anatomy' to understand much of what she is saying. The illustrations go a ways to helping that, but I couldn't escape the feeling that the author was trying to make sure that readers knew she REALLY is a medically trained doctor.

Again, aside from that caveat, a good book with lots of maladies addressed.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Self-help book!
This is an excellent self-help book. Page "58" is very helpful to overcome immediate allergic reaction temporarily. On the very first visit, Dr. Mala taught me how to use these points. Every morning when I wake up I massage these points before I get out of bed. That gives me tremendous energy all day along.During my initial NAET treatments, I was advised to massage these points every two hours. That helped me pass my treatments without any unpleasant reactions. I love this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Accupressure Manual
This book has been a godsend. With some experience in accupressure my wife and I have been able to use this book to address all sorts of ills. She once brought down a 104 F fever to normal in 2 hours using the pressure points in this book.

The only downside is that QA on the book is sorely lacking.Points on diagrams are missing in the narratives, the index does not include many common ailments that that are actually covered and can be found by browsing through the pressure point descriptions. There are many other editing mistakes. If this is cleaned up in the second edition, as a working manual this will be second to none.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good...
This book is so easy to follow.Anyone can follow his directions as far as the acupressure techniques.I have no knowledge of physiology or the acupressure.Overall, it is a great book.I really recommend this book. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Acupressure Techniques: A Self Help Guide
This book is almost useless for helping someone understand how to use acupressure to alleviate physical symptoms. As a licensed massage therapist who already knows quite a bit about acupressure, I am always willing to learnmore about any kind of bodywork. I had hoped to be able to pass on some ideas to my clients for self help but this book was definitely not it. The book gives some accupoints for specific problems, some of these are "golden points" able to stand alone in use, but others are not. The book gives no order to use these in and furthermore does not specify if all or any of the points are to be used together in sequence, or not. Also,it does't tell where the points are EXACTLY. There are really too many flaws to go into here. Acupressure is very complex, this book tries to simplify it to the point that it looks like some goofy folklore advocating some bad mojo.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice little book!
This is a very handy little book to have for your medical library. It is easy to follow, has a nice index to look up your particular problem and doesn't bog the reader down with a huge history and medical jargon of accupressure.
It has easy to use pictures too.
I have used it already to help my annoying neck and shoulder pain!Sure beats a $50.00 office visit (and most likely, a 3rd or 4th) to your doctor :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to follow
Guide is easy to follow and helpfull for everyday ailments. Lots of pictures!

4-0 out of 5 stars Could have been better
The strengths of this book are in the concise explanation of the techniques of acupressure and the clear illustration of the location of the acupoints. The layout is nicely done, too; each condition is on a double page spread with a brief explanation on the left-hand page and illustrations on the right-hand page. However, a little more thought on the indexing would have improved the book a lot.For example, PMS or things related cannot be found in the index, but are included under "dysmenorrhoea". Otherwise this is a great little book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and great for pain relief
This is an excellent guide for the inexperienced layperson.

I have given copies to friends here and abroad and recommended it to many others including an allopathic doctor, as a good companion to have nearby, forrelieving pain that would otherwise require a visit to a doctor or takingpainkillers.

The diagrams are clear and easy to follow. Make sure youread the guidelines at the beginning of the book and generally avoidworking on damaged bones or wounds from recent operations.

You don't haveto know the exact acupressure points or terms or a lot about the humananatomy to get a result. If the point that you press is sore, it isgenerally the point that you need to press.

There is no need to use alot of strength. Sometimes the person whom you are helping may be too frailto take the pressure or has a low pain treshhold. Just ease off andcontinue pressing on the spot until he or she can take more pressure.

There are many acupressure books in print. What makes this unique isthat Dr Kenyon has selected a very EFFECTIVE COMBINATION OF ACCUPRESSUREPOINTS for the problems that I have succesfully used to help my friends andrelations with relieving intense pain in eg the hip, shoulder (frozenshoulder), hand, feet, wrist and neck. Also for diarrhoea.

In my limitedexperience, a result is generally obtained overnight. The relief on theirfaces is soemthing to behold.

I was going to order a few more copies ofthis book when I found that it was out of print. I hope Dr Kenyon willseriously consider updating this wonderful book.

It is so helpful ingiving the layperson CONTROL and INDEPENDANCE in maintaining his own wellbeing and certainly will save the National Health System a lot ofmoney.

If anyone reading this knows Dr Kenyon please let him know of myrequest for a reprint. ... Read more

Equine Acupressure, a Working Manual, is an invaluable resource for practitioners of equine holistic therapies. I am a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist, also a Canine SMT, and a Reiki Master/Teacher. I regularly incorporate acupressure in my practice. It is straight forward, a pleasure to read, and an invaluable tool. I carry this book with me in the field, and refer to it frequently.
It is a solid, accurate, and user-friendly introduction to Acupressure/Chinese medicine for horses. I enthusiastically recommend this book to all members of the Equine health care team; veterinarians, veterinary chiropracters, certified massage therapists, and owners.

If you want to understand something be with the dummies.
That is a good book, but don't expect to be a masseur when you're done.
Always seek practical experience.

1-0 out of 5 stars Binding fell apart at first reading.
The book is great. It is just what I was looking for - acupressure points for healing. However the book and binding are very old and the binding fell apart and all pages are loose now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Text
I use this book regularly, along with Ms. Teeguarden's others, Complete Guide to Acupressure, and The Joy of Feeling.

This book is an excellent starter; it has clear descriptions of excatly *where* the points are, unlink Michael Reed Gach's books (one of Ms. Teeguarden's former students). The book also starts you off with Strange Flow work, the most powerful acupressure tool.

Since acupressure and traditional chinese medicine isn't about fixing symptoms (Gach's approach), but rather treating the entire system, this is the best ground work I've found.

4-0 out of 5 stars a class text
This is actually a class text designed to be used in conjunction with a certified Jin Shin Do practitioner and teacher. With that in mind, yes, it will seem ethereal, or worse, when not taken in conjunction with the class(es). As opposed to working primarily from the ZangFu, Jin Shin Do utilizes the 8 curious Mai; and is another way to help body-workers in dealings of body armoring.

2-0 out of 5 stars Esoteric and Theory-based
This book is quite esoteric and very theory-based.I was looking more for a book that would assist me in learning to use accupressure rather than understand it's development and philosophy. For anyone interested in a book that is more aimed at treatment, try Acupressure Potent Points: A Guide to Self-Care for Common Ailments by Michael Gach, an excellent resource.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good practical book
I found this simply written book very usefull. The book begins with conception and introduction of theoretical basis of chinese medicine and accupressure, it continues with tables of locations and way of working onthe main acu-points (including self-treatment). At the and of the bookauthor gives us a practical approach to the emotions from the acu-points. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Try this, you won't be sorry
This book can bring heightend intimacy and increased sexual satisfaction to your relationship. At the very least the techniques are relaxing, and very loving, with some practice you may find some startling results, igniting new found interest in sharing and exploring your mate.
I've owned five copies, each one borrowed...never to return. I now give it as a wedding, or 1st anniversary gift. Have your lover page through it and mark interesting pages with yellow stickies. Do your homework, and enjoy each other. You'll probably find yourself spending more time in bed together, and watching less TV.

3-0 out of 5 stars it is good, but too repetitive...
it is that kind of book that go around the same point over and over again but "from" different points of view.
It is good, it teaches you, but it could be written shorter.
The pressure points are almost the same through the book; what change is that the author gives you like a manual of how to do it for every stage.
I think should be more!!..

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Use and Understand
Sometimes, finding the right location of points can be tricky. This book has enough pictures and illustrations that make it easy to follow. Effective!

4-0 out of 5 stars Surprised me ...
This book taught me a few things I didn't already know, and I was surprised by some of the reactions I got after applying its principles and techniques.

With the simple touch of a finger, or a thumb, pain and some of life's everyday problems and miseries can be relieved through the very simple process of Acupressure. This book is very easy to use and understand. The self-help folks will find a treasure trove of knowledge waiting to be discovered in this rather marvelous book, with just a touch.................

5-0 out of 5 stars Clear and Easy
We've used this book for years, when we had a problem... and always found the suggested points helpful. The book is simple compared to many accupressure books and thus easy to use. Recommend getting yourself a copy. My recent purchase was to give to my son and his new wife, so they could help themselves, too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
This book I'm sure doesn't cover all acupressure points, but it is very helpful for most people. It is easy to use and to find what it is that you are looking for.It doesn't explain a lot of information about acupressure points.
I think it is a useful for most people, especially if you don't want to spend time reading and just want to look up the points and see what they are attached to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Does it
My dad had this book since he was in college and whenever I had a problem (usually headaches) he would consult the Natural Healers book; stimulating the pressure points listed and described in here work better than any medicine I've tried, whether I have a headache, menstrual cramps, dizziness, or a neck ache.Though there are many other accupressure books out there, this one is my favorite. The simple, black & white drawings give accurate representations of the body (both male and female) and show exactly where the accupressure point is located.A brief description of the exact location is also provided since the accupressure point can be slightly different according to one's body/build.This desciption uses anatomical landmarks (i.e., just below the rib cage, a thumbs length above the ankle) to help one locate the right point. There are also numerous points for one problem, so if one point doesn't seem to be working another option is available.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for carers/practitioners/therapists
Love this book - especially the tapping sequences for healing; they are a wonderful addition to professional practice along with positive affirmation. Also great for anyone willing to clear their "stuff" without help from a therapist. Enjoy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Instant Emotional Healing ~ Acupressure for the Emotions
This is an amazing book. I'm suffering from the side effects of Levaquin. During my last CT scan they discovered I had Follicular Lymphoma cancer. Afterwards, I was diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy on my legs and feet.Reading the book helps me be positive with everyhting.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
This book is crap.Try Glenn Harrold's "Overcome The Fear of Flying" instead. It relies more on controlling your breathing, which works better.

3-0 out of 5 stars I believe EFT works, but...
I gave it 3 stars because I tried the book out for hours and hours and hours, between 9am to 8pm, with breaks in between, and I did this for 5 days, but I think my issue may be too deep or something. I need a professional. Also the book protocols have you skip alot of points to tap, which is odd.... like for example, under the eye, under the nose, and under arem for one issue, and another issue calls for under eye, under nose, colarbone, underarm and colarbone again....and thats it....maybe that is why it didnt work for me. Maybe I need to tap on all points like the traditional way. I even did the colarbone breathing daily before the polar reversal and balance breathing before each tapping session with no relief at all. I know it works if you are doing it right, but the books way seems different . I got no relief, not even a lower susd number scale. I wish it would work though, I was really counting on it to work.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Last Book I'll Ever Need!
When reading this book, I couldn't help but think of the old adage "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.Teach a man to fish, feed him for life."This is the first book I've read in which the authors actually give you the tools to master and manage your emotional habits/tendencies and, in turn, your life.I bought the book a skeptic and I finished the book a believer and fan.I strongly recommend this book to everyone. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very practical
The accupuncture/accupressure system of self-healing is millenia-old, and I was looking for a book that would serve as a quick how-to rather than a lengthy thesis.I compared this book to the Michael Reed Gach book which seems very popular, and I have to say that this book works much better. It is brief, and yet leaves very little out.The format is well-suited for someone who just wants to get started, rather than be reading a textbook for the next few hours before getting started.

Product Description
Combines acupressure and massage to treat pain using elastic tape

• Shows how the use of an elastic, adhesive tape works with the body’s own motions to combine the actions of acupressure and massage

• Presents both therapeutic and preventative techniques for acute and chronic pain

• Contains step-by-step instructions illustrated in full color detailing how to self-treat pain in all parts of the body

Sufferers of chronic pain well know the frustration of treatments involving endless rounds of drugs or expensive physical therapy--that may or may not offer relief. In Acupressure Taping, authors Hecker and Liebchen present a comprehensive guide to a new method of pain treatment--acutaping--which offers a much simpler and more effective alternative. In acutaping, elastic tape is placed over the afflicted area in accordance with related acupuncture points. During the course of normal movement throughout the day, the elastic tape provides a gentle but consistent massage to the inflamed area. Because the skin adheres to the tape, it is shifted against the subtissue during motion, causing lymph tissue to drain and connective tissue to be massaged.

The authors show that most bodily dysfunctions can be self-treated through this innovative method. Combining elements of Chinese medicine with osteopathy, acutaping produces a method of treatment for ailments ranging from back pain and tennis elbow to menstrual pain and migraines. Acutaping is an easy and effective treatment--without side effects--that offers welcome relief to sufferers of chronic pain. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book
This book was so good the first time I purchased it, that I had to order another for a friend!! Who also loves it.....

3-0 out of 5 stars Acupressure Taping book review
I bought this book because I wanted to learn more about Kinesio Taping. There are good step-by-step pictures and what I believed to be good step-by-step instructions. I finally took a weekend seminar given by the official Kinesio Taping Association International. The course instruction and hands on practice is priceless. The Acupressure Bookcompared to course manual is different. Now that I've taken the course and am a Certified Kinesio Tape Practioner, I see the book I purchased is missing some very important details and how to perform proper KT techniques. I can use this book as a general guideline for taping. As mentioned the pictures are very good and know where to fill in the gaps of missing information. The best books for learning, besides the actual course, is by Kenzo Kase, the founder of KT.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Reasonable Cent
It's not the most technical book, but by cow, it works.
I'm a beginner to taping, and use it mainly to stop the aches and pains at my advanced age of 31.

It has clear diagrams of how to stretch, and equally unambiguous steps of where to place the tape.

My only reservation is that it doesn't have instructions on the 'how' to tape - do I stretch the tape, do I roll it on?
Dance a little shamanistic dance around after taping?

A bit more background on why it works would also be nice, like, it stretches this muscle and this muscle.

We've used it for calves, ankles, elbows and shoulders and the releif was immediate and palpable.

But listen, for around $10 and pain relief with a bit of tape, you really can't grouse. Not too much.

Could it be better, well yes. Is it pretty good - yes, if you want to get into taping for personal pain relief.

If you're in it to win it, for performance sports etc, I wouldn't recommend it.
But otherwise, great for noobs.

5-0 out of 5 stars It works
I had experienced accupressure taping and was eager to try it again. I was able to alleviate my husband's foot pain with the instructions in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Very pleased with this book. It shows how to stretch the body and then apply the tape. Some things you can do alone but most taping has to be done by another individual. Since you are stretching the body one way and applying the tape on, it's almost impossible to do it yourself. I showed it to my chiropractor and he wanted to keep the book to read it for himself. He already uses kinesio taping in his practice. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars acupressure step by step

Product Description
A Complete Guide to Acupressure fills the need for something in between simplistic acupressure books and complicated acupuncture texts. Now even more complete, this new edition has been updated to include:
o JSD as a tool for aiding recovery from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - a state of hyperarousal following a traumatic experience like an accident, attack, or disaster;
o Anxiety and insomnia as indications of disturbed Shen, or Spirit, with point combinations integrating traditional acupuncture theory with segmental theory;
o The Five Elemental Processes as a practical guide to a harmonious relationship with Nature, both around us and within us;
o JSD acupressure as an adjunct to first aid for athletic injuries in outdoor situations like hiking and wilderness travel.
o A clothes-on technique, Jin Shin Do is the author's unique synthesis of a Japanese acupressure technique, traditional Chinese acupuncture theory, Taoist philosophy, Qigong (breathing exercises), and Western psychological tools. A Complete Guide to Acupressure describes this synthesis in detail, with chapters by Iona and senior Jin Shin Do teachers in the U.S., Canada and Europe. "Jin Shin Do" means "The Way of the Compassionate Spirit," and this book is a treasure house of ways to treat ourselves compassionately.
o Iona Marsaa Teeguarden, M.A., L.M.F.T. has taught Jin Shin Do Acupressure throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe for three decades.
