2-0 out of 5 stars Insipid Yet Mildly Entertaining
While reading this book I constantly was tempted to set it aside. I knew the outcome, the dialogue was fairly predictable and the action was ho-hum.Maybe this is Lawrence Sanders mea culpa for his "traditional" (politically incorrect) excellent police procedurals - Sins, Commandments, etc. There's lots of violence, a hallmark of 20th century ideology in which we have slowly become accustomed to the use of violence for political purposes whether it be bombing a clinic, church, destroying property, rioting, looting or murdering 3,000 people because they are seen as the enemy.

Molly is a real winner, yes-sir, a one woman force dedicated to helping the "weaker" sex.Her methods are suspect, lots of lying and double-crossing, blackmail and sexual liasons when the urge hits. The lead male character was truly "out of character" - a tough cop who obediently carries out her violent bidding without question. Yet he never evinces for a second a genuine interest in advancing the cause of women, if "women" can be a "cause".

Molly and Associates's aim is redress for all the bad years and numerical equality in all positions regardless of ability, skill or experience. To get this accomplished they kill and threaten people - simple as that. At the end, the new FEMALE Veep nominee presents a set of ludicrous demands (a woman to head the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Federal Reserve, etc) to the next Prez and opines smugly to hubby that perhaps the President won't live out his first term. What a gal!

4-0 out of 5 stars Male Chauvinists Beware
I found this book to be an intriguing and insightful tale of the plight of he average american woman's struggle. It clearly shows that we have come sofar in the evolution of our sex. It is only hateful tomen if they refuse to read between the lines. Sandersunravels a cleverlywoven taleof theinternal as well as the external struggles for women to be free not only from the constraints ofsociety but from the ties that they bind themselves with.It iscomendable as to how the author being a manis able to capture the former as well as the genuine essence of woman. This book is to be read and praised by every generation to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best ever; something every feminist should read.
I had difficulty putting this book down because of the suspense. The plot was very well developed. ... Read more

Product Description
As the role of informationtechnology continues to broaden in scope and complexity, it isimperative that researchers as well as practitioners have some way todetermine when a system is successful and why certain strategies leadto a successful system. According to statistics gathered by KPMG ofCanada about 30% of all information systems development projects arecancelled after significant spending and about 55% are implementedwith large cost increases (with scheduled overruns and with fewerfeatures than promised.) Only about 15% of all projects areimplemented according to plan. The goal of systems developmentempirical research is to provide insight into this detailed andcomplex process and to be able to provide prescriptive guidelines forpractitioners. However, empirical research into the successfuldevelopment of information systems has been plagued with numerousmethodological weaknesses. Chief among these is the inability toconfidently measure the success or failure that results from a systemsdevelopment project. Without a reliable dependent measure, no studycan make a significant contribution to our body of knowledge in thisarea. This book has four goals: provide conceptual and philosophicalfoundations for measuring systems success; provides new approaches forunderstanding and identifying systems success; compares system successinstruments; and, shows you how to validate systems successmeasures.. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Reflects best practices in a narrow discipline
The nine chapters in this book are essays that are written by experts in their fields of expertise, with contributions by Garrity and Sanders who are credited on the cover.

Each of the chapters can stand alone, although they are presented in a sequence that build upon the preceding one. Each chapter ends with endnotes and references.Chapter 1 introduces information systems success measurement as a discipline. It does so in clear terms and is consistent with each of the subsequent chapters.Chapter 2, Dimensions of IS success, is especially strong in that it introduces models, including DeLone and MacLean's model for IS success, and variations that show different viewpoints. It decomposes the dimensions into domains, provides questionnaires, and ends with an appendix that gives example ratings and measurements. This chapter shows how to quantify factors and portray success in hard numbers.

Chapter 3 extends the previous one by providing a 3-D model approach to measurement.Because I work in multi-cultural and multi-national environments I especially liked chapter 4's focus on cross-cultural environments. In addition, the legal aspects of measurement that is chapter 5's topic is essential reading.Regardless of your specific interests do take the time to read this short chapter because it applies to anyone in IS/IT.One glaring omission here is UCITA (Uniform Computer Information Transaction Act), which is an optional modification, on a state-by-state basis, to the Uniform Commercial Code (which is covered).

The remaining chapters address (Ch 6) Comprehensive Model for Assessing Quality and Productivity, (Ch 7) Development of Process and Outcome User Satisfaction, (Ch 8) Interpretive Approach to IS Success Measurement, and (Ch 9) Five Secrets to Systems Success. Each contained one or more interesting concepts and/or sparked ideas.Because much of my work as an IT consultant involves process improvement strategies and service level management I found this book to be an invaluable source of information. Each of the chapters contains valuable information, insights and ideas that will be useful to anyone in IT management or service delivery roles. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars For Sue Grafton and Janet Evanovich fans
I have read most of Lawrence Sander's books and enjoyed them all (except for The Marlowe Chronicles). The Eighth Commandment is a little different and a welcome deviation from his other New York detective and Archie McNally themed books. Also, if you are a Sue Grafton fan and have read all of her's and looking for something similar, try this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Awesome Read!
I loved this book. This is the first novel I've read by Sanders and it's certainly not the last. The main character is immediatly likable and any twenty-something can relate to her. With strong integrety and a quirky sense of humor, she makes the book a breeze to read through. The mystery is fast paced and intrigues the reader with each new chapter. Nothing monumental or legendary about the writing. Just a straightforward, fast-paced mystery that will keep you company on a rainy day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good.
It was very good till the last page.It was the best myestory book I have very read.It was the first book I have ever read by this author.I like it.I would`nt highly recommend it but it's ok.

3-0 out of 5 stars A flaki Sanders book
If you have read other books by L. Sanders you will be dissappointed by this one.

It is a flaki book on a flaki detective, with too many repititions and not much of a plot. The suspence is there but it is notregarding the detective work (the thief is evident from the start and Ikept wondering on the negligence of the detectives) it is in the heroineromantic life.

If you want a good book, buy this one, but if you want anexcellent detective book buy another book by this author.

5-0 out of 5 stars Now on my favorite list!
This was the first book that I have read by Sanders, and I loved it.I finished it in one day. It was totally engrossing and I fell in love with his main character "Dunk".It has a fantastic plot. I just wishDunk had made a better choice in men! ... Read more
