The Question Is...
I also recommend the book called "The Question Is..." recently released in 2009.It is a thought-provoking conversational ice breaker for all age groups and occassions!It's compact to take on road trips, etc. The Question Is is so generic that it transends all age groups.It strikes you to consider what ever happened to the art of conversation?!?I love "The Question Is..."

I thought it would be about Vietnam, am I dumb!
Does a writer who shares the same name as a famous guy who writes about his years in 'Nam sell as many books?? That's one question I think I know the answer to!

Hilarious!!
This book is filled with 169 off-the-wall, hilarious, zany questions.Tim O'Brien is truly a gifted comic.Who else could have thought of such questions as:

If white wine goes with fish, do white grapes go with sushi?

Do Roman paramedics refer to IVs as "4's" ?

Does distressed leather come from very tense cows?

These, and the other 166 questions in this book are side-splittingly funny.If you like off-the-wall humor, you'll love this book.

Interesting list of places to explore, but limited practical info
The suggestions in this book were great, it's just the format and the lack of practical info that got to me.

Their ideas really were interesting, unique places that were worth going to. I found that there was some overlap between this one and the content for Tennessee from the Let's Go USA guide, but this one tended to have some more unique ideas.

I was using it on a road trip though, so I was hoping to use it as a reference guide on the go, but it didn't work so well for that. The format lends it more to being read like a novel, rather than glancing through it for quick inspiration. If you do decide you want to visit a place in the book, count on using other resources (a phone call, GPS, internet access, etc.) to figure out how to get to these places. There were few maps, no transit info, and even limited descriptions of how to get to beautiful rural nature sites - just a quick mention that the sites exist and are a few miles north/south/east/west of X city. No highways, no driving distances, no landmarks, etc.

I'm not aware of a better reference guide out there on Tennessee, so I'd recommend this to help you get some inspiration, but prepare to read it beforehand, not during, and compile your own information to help you find these places.
