Love it
I am a senior dental hygiene student and we had to find a children's book to write a lesson plan on for an elementary school class and this is the one I chose for my project.The book rhymes and is fun and easy to read.There are vocabulary words in the back as well.The book uses reverse psychology on the reader due to the fact it is from the perspective of the bacteria.They are pleading with the reader not to brush, floss, or go to the dentist.It also gives kids an idea on what is going on in their mouths when they are not brushing.I loved this book so much I bought another copy for my niece.

My five year old is sometimes a lazy brusher. Now I read this book with her before toothbrushing. Then I say "hey let's not brush tonight - let's let those poor bacteria guys have a party!"She yells "NOOOOO !!!!!" and proceeds to do an awesome and thorough teeth-cleaning. ... Read more

Katz' "Greatest Hits"
Understanding Steve Katz' particular brand of humor, as well as knowing when he's being totally serious, is not an easy task.But reading avant-garde fiction is never easy, and that's what I love about Katz; he'snot easy to read.His fictions challenge our notions of what fictionshould look, sound, and even act like.

In "Parcel of Wrists" heimagines himself receiving a package containing dozens of human wrists, butthe return address seems to indicate the point of origin as a city thatdoesn't exist.So the author goes on a long quest to find the mysteriouscity while his wrists are at home brewing up a surprise for him when hereturns."Death of the Band" is a sharp satire of postmodernmusic.The protagonist is a detective searching for a famous composer whoends all of his musical compositions by killing the members of hisorchestra.

Katz is a deft wordsmith whose stories have the rhythm of jazzcompositions."43 Fictions," which does not contain 43 fictionsbut instead refers to the author's obsession with the number 43 (it plays aprominent role in many of his books), is not the best Steve Katz book outthere, but it's a good introduction to his virtuoso style and unique wit. Excerpting books like "Moving Parts" and "Exagggerations ofPeter Prince" does not do the original books justice."Saw"in particular does not lend itself to snippets for anthologies.I'drecommend "Stolen Stories" as a better introduction to Katz, but"43 Fictions" does present the breadth of his work in a condensedform, which is both a strength and a glaring weakness. ... If you order this, you will receive a homemade pamphlet, printed on cheap copy paper (including the cover), and saddle-stapled together.Hardly worth $12.95.A "perfect paperback" is a real book, with a glued, flush-edge binding of the pages, with a real cover.

As for the content, it's great for beginners, since it brings together many ideas for effectively & legally dealing with debt collectors.However, the ideas presented are hardly "secrets," since everything presented is gleaned for free off of the many websites and forums (including author Katz's forum) that support & inform debtors. ...
