From the supplier: Thirty-four years after his death, Randall Jarrell is still a bright, propulsive figure revealed in four volumes of critical prose: Poetry and the Age (1953), A Sad Heart at the Supermarket (1962), and two posthumous volumes, The Third Book of Criticism (1969) and Kipling, Auden & Co. (1980). Critics regarded Jarrell as epic- making, and as the most generous critic of poetry, but the establishments at university English departments could not bring themselves honor the views of such a informal, brazen man.
