The story line was very good, and it was very well written.
Beyond the dark river was a fine book. The story line was fabulous and the characters were very interesting. I think the whole book was good and what happened was well explained but what I did not get is the way she just letDaughter of she who came after and Benjamin go off to there own places atthe end.She said that they would meet again, but what happens next? Hunter in the darkzack boysen
I like to hunt so I thougt I might like it.The book is about a boy that likes to hunt. The book could have been more about hunting. How come the boy diden't hunt in the dark. They could have when't into more hunting deatales.Why did the story go from school to home then to the woods. How come it wasn't just in the woods.But over all I liked the book.
The people in the book are Mike Rankin,Doug and Doug's dad are the mane people in the book. The setting was in the woods and at home and at school.
Mike shot the big deer he was looking for.He won the race betwen him and his dad. They like to hunt becuse the boath in joied doing it.I hunt couse I ijoy hunting with my dad to . so me and Mike are like the some.

It had no magic

The story "Hunter In The Dark," by Monica Hughes is about a boy named Mike who is in realistic situations in everyday life, who faces challenges in and out of school. Mike has a somewhat perfect life. He has a beautiful girlfriend named Gloria, he's on the school basketball team, and is keeping his grades up to date, and is earning a pretty strong B average. All of that falls apart, when Mike suddenly falls apart on the basketball court one day, during a game after school in his school gym. He soon finds out he might have a blood disease called anemia, but after weeks and weeks he soon realizes that he is not getting better, and he might have an even greater disease.

Overall, I believe the quality of the book is somewhat okay, but the thing that really disappointed me was that there was no interestgrabbing me, or taking me into the story. I couldn't feel there, and it was not a page turner, and I got bored of it at parts of the book, because things were not flowing, and in my opinion, the sentences were poorly detailed, and did not have any meaning, or description hardly. I've read some really good booksbefore, and you didn't want to put them down, and you didn't want the story to end, you wanted it to keep going, but with this book, I felt it had no magic, or the qualities a well-written book should have.

It was very confusing
I never understand when he is dreaming or not. I read one of the reviews and it said that he dreamed of going hunting while he was in the hospital with leukemia, but I thought it was the other way around. I thought he was actually hunting but from time to time was dreaming of being in the hospital with leukemia. Now I am even mor confused than before.

It was interesting.

A fabulous story
I read this book so I could vote for the Red Maple award.I voted for this book, and I will not be surprised if it wins. This is the suspenseful and heartwarming story of a boy on the island of Ariban who discovers a shipwrecked girl who washed up on the shore.She was Jennifer, the storyteller, who brought with her a box of stories.The land was Ariban, aplace where imagination is forbidden, stories are outlawed, and dreams mustdie before morning.In this story, the boy must chose between the love ofa friend, and the honour of his family.

This book is definitely recommended for those who love fantasy books. A young boy lives in a land where dreams and stories are forbidden until one day a girl gets washed upon their shores.
