4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but...
He writes well and has numerous interesting ideas. However, single pieces of evidence do not a science make.In all of his discounting and badmouthing of conventional Egyptologists and Archeologists, he fails to mention that while he can build an airtight explanation out of what evidence he selectively presents, they must be more restrained in how far they move with the TOTAL amount of evidence (for and against).Still a well-written and interesting read that raises many intersting questions and theories. The Sign and the Seal was also very good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fingerprints, or actual footsteps?
I have never read a book that stimulates my mind more than
"Fingerprints of the Gods".It's a true journey through time space and mythology, one that sucks you right in.There's no way you can put this book down.A truly wonderful piece of writing that will make you think; could this really happen?Have we as such a technologically advanced race actually forgotten an entire civilization.A civilization just as advanced, or maybe even more so, than our own? It makes you wonder why such obvious historical information has been so blatantly ignored.Anyone who is even remotely interested in ancient mythology should try this book.Whether you believe or not, it is guaranteed to make you think.

5-0 out of 5 stars An eye-opener of a different kind.
I was in Israel when I a friend of mine loaned me the book. I have, since then, read every single Bauval, Hancock or West novel and devised a yearly pilgrimage journey to the middle east. What I liked about the book was itsholistic approach to all the clues the "gods" left around theworld. Unlike "Keeper of the Genesis", Fingerprints has moretantilising clues of the "Viracochas" or "Gods" whopossessed technological wisdom enough to impact cultures for infity. Iespecially enjoyed the beginning, the maps of so long ago yet detailedenough to prove they were not drawn from coincidence. As for Machu Pichu,it's definately my next destination. The clues there say to me that theguys who pitched up those pyramids in Egypt are relatives of those whoended up in South America. So where is this mysterious place of thepyramids and people who worship the solar system? Somewhere in Orionperhaps...

5-0 out of 5 stars By far the most interesting thing I have EVER read.
This book is excellent. It really makes you think. You won't be able to put it down.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is absolutely amazing!
This is the most thought provoking book I have ever read. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. This is the first theory about the pyramids that actually makes sense and doesn't have any loose ends. Thisbook is for people who like to think and who are open minded to new ideas. It follows Graham Hancock around the world as he explores many mysteriesthat have puzzled us for years, but then he discovers that they are alllinked to once ancient source. I cannot say enough good things about thisbook, see for yourself. ... Read more

Product Description
This is the story of an ancient tribe of super-intelligent beings that lived on the Iraq-Iranian border and who, through their wisdom, created the basis for Western civilization. Unable to know what to call them, mankind gave them the name of angels. But they were not angels - they were a race unto themselves. The author, Andrew Collins, has investigated archaeological data as well as cultural and literary sources to produce an account of this lost culture. Their knowledge was such that mankind lived in fear of them as well as in awe. Mankind ascribes Pagan myths, supernatural magic, and the power of the divine to this race, and as organized religion became more powerful, it sought to eliminate all traces of this forbidden and secretive group of people. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating and Intriguing
This book is not an easy read, in fact far from it. However, the depth of research that Andrew Collins has done makes it a worthwhile reading project. Anyone tackling biblical historyhas a difficult task because of the time lapse between actual events and the written version. Many people are fascinated by Bible accounts of the strange half-angelic creatures called the Nephilim - did they exist, or was it just another old story embroidered over the passage of time? Mr. Collins has investigated his subject with an incredible attention to detail. Angels, demons, legends, myths, half-truths ... or possibly facts? The elements in this gripping account are teased out for the reader to appreciate and formulate their own opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Research
Excellent. As a researcher myself, Andrew Collins provides logic to questions about our past. His conclusions make sense and this book is by far a staple in any reader's library. It's so good, I've given it as a gift to those who wonder about the history of mankind.

5-0 out of 5 stars a courageous book...
Andrew Collins is a courageous man...for decades conspiracy researchers have speculated that Mankind's true history has been hidden -- everything from Atlantis and Lemuria to the true nature of the Nefelim and Elohim referenced in the Bible. Modern scientists will scoff at this, but of course a conspiracy theorist would counter that their Rockefeller-derived academic experience may have had a few holes in it. History is written by the Winners, edited by the Masters of War, and kept from the People, as it always has been. So using something called "psychic archaeology" (where psychics don't tell him what happened in the past, but rather where to look for hard archaeological evidence). The scope of this book is staggering and eye-popping, much like "The Book Of Enoch" which is the central source of the story Collins relates. It may read like science fiction, but it dovetails with so much other research from so many different directions that it has to be taken seriously. In my opinion, it is the one book that puts it all together. Myself, I have been following this story since the 70s, and have written a novel revolving around the same ideas Collins presents. "From the Ashes of Angels" is an amazing book for the general reader with an open mind, and it will open the door to a hundred other books, many of considerable scholarship, which will rewrite what we thought about history and who we think we are as a species. A simply brilliant achievement, and the culmination of a life's work of scholarship. See his website [...] for more info...

4-0 out of 5 stars A great book for odd facts alone.
Having read 4 of Andrew's books I can say this about the man. He picks topics others dont. While many modern alternete history writters are trying to get a piece of the Dan Brown Jesus Bloodline fad, Mr. Collins is picking really cool topics. In his last book he gets into how sound can be used to levitate rocks with some very cool info I did not know of.
From ashes of angels is worth the price of admission just for the myths of the kurds alone. Mr. Collins brings to light some lost cultures with great detail. I love the storys of the peacock and the vulture men of the mountains. I only wish he would have brought into this book Stichens ideas of the Anunnaki which many of the legends named such as enlil and enki. But I can understand his working around the controversy's of Stichens work. A good read you will walk away from this book with some new bit of knowledge.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just Theories, no real facts.
I am reading this book, for the past week and am at page 200. You can see where the author (Collins) is going. He is making all things heavinly as tangeable. I was just waiting for the punchline that he thinks these are Nordic Vikings.
He believes that these "Watchers" were just a highly evolved race of people who lived up in a mountain (Heaven) and descended down the mountians (plains of earth). If this is so, where did they come from? The Book of Enoch says that God told the Watchers he created them not to have wives and that reproducing was for man's benefit. Angels were men or male. Why would Enoch call these beings Angels if they were clearly men, white men or Chinese men? Enoch wasn't an idiot, he knew what a man was.
Collins did very little justice to the Book of Enoch and just quoted what would suit his beliefs negating the larger issues.

Though most Bible students and those who study Middle Eastern legends would rightly know that these people (Hebrews,Medians etc) are really link together but with differing stories. Stories orginate from one source. The Bible is a small excerpt of history. To read the book of Genesis, the first 10 chapters and assume that all the knowledge is right there would be wrong. They come from a much larger source which is good about Collins book.
I am however disappointed on how he portrays Enoch's visions (Heaven Fact or Fantasy) as just walking up mountains and seeing different levels on earth. I started to wonder if Collins believes in God (YWHY), Biblical prophecy and/or the supernatural. Also, the Book of Enoch says that these Watcher Angels gave him these visions, meaning, they would have to have a supernatural way about them. Like the Book of Daniel, when the angel visits him, Collins tries to make this more human to human when Daniel clearly had a vision and Angels as astronomers.
Collins does a good job at trying to present things as fact but as one reviewer said and I totally agree turns into a question or "could it be?" Rehtorical questions. Why is he questioning the reader, he's been doing the research for so long in his opening. In the same breath claims that Jew and Christians have the wrong views?

Like many other authors trying to make sense of the Bible and old legends tries hard to link stories but with no facts, more just theories. The Bible is to be a historical book but he is quoting from old fable tales from old Middle Eastern stories known as fables. The Bible is not presented as a fable book, we are to believe it is God's Word. The Bible is a mystery.
