Product Description

From the man Time magazine named one of the top 100 heroes and icons of the 20th Century, comes a book of spiritual exploration
A fifteen-year-old boy is walking through a swirling fog on his way to school when a voice calls out, “Come here. We need to talk.” Out of the mist emerges an old man with a white beard. He is a fantastic figure, as wizardly as Merlin, as wise as Socrates, as peaceful as Buddha. Whoever he is, the old man has appeared on that very day to change the boy’s life.
“You are old enough to learn about things” he says mysteriously. “And who is going to teach you but me?”
The old man gives the boy four days of “soul training,” a time of riddles, tricks, parables and fantastic twists that bring out surprising answers to each of four burning questions about spirituality:
• Do I have a soul?
• How do wishes come true?
• What is the supreme force in the universe?
• How can I change the world?
The boy was Deepak Chopra, who grew up to write and teach about the same invisible things the old man had taught him. “The old man with the white beard showed me the spiritual side of life,” says the author, “where real passion and excitement come from. So before you begin, take a deep breath. The story could turn out to be yours.”

Product Description
In this fascinating lecture, Deepak Chopra makes the point that consciousness is the ultimate reality, and it manifests both as the soul and universal spirit, which then slowly gives rise to both individual and cosmic intelligence. The intent of the soul is to just remember three things: to know; to keep manifesting as physical existence; and to experience love, or unity consciousness. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars if you like theory
Very interesting but nothing practical. I love theory as well and practical application so I thought it was a good time.

5-0 out of 5 stars He pulls all the theories together with the oldest theory in the book
Deepak Chopra is delightful to listen to. His anecdotes are warm and humorous like his voice, and he pops in laugh-out-loud one liners even though his presentation is anything but dry. Here he digresses at the very beginning of his talk to wax lyrical about how we manifest according to the tenets of Vedanta, and I think, uh-oh, I've had as much of The Secret as I can take. But it's not like that at all; the wisdom of the ancients and the zero point field and a healthy dose of quantum physics and contemporary medical technology all make for a new perspective on a bit of a tired topic.
He stresses the importance of science proving spirituality to get the myths out of the way and the truth demonstrable to all. Pearls of wisdom pop out all over the place, like where is memory stored? - in the brain or in the quantum field (Akashic record)? What is the nature of past, present and future, and does it all exist simultaneously? Is God a dead white guy? How do we really manifest our reality, and where is it stored before we pluck it out of the ether? What is the nature of our past lives and karma, and lots of other little gems that I've forgotten but I'll pick up again because this is one of my favourite car CD's for driving.
Enjoy. It's a good price too.

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL LIVE AUDIENCE CD-ENLIGHTENMENT FOR THE SOUL!
Really enjoyed listening to this LIVE CD! When I listened, I felt like I was in the audience. This is very inspiring as well as very entertaining. This is a less formal CD by Dr. Chopra than the non live CD's, a joy to listen to and I will continue to listen to this CD over and over! In my opinion, ALL of Deepak Chopra's CD's are wonderful. I own over 12 of the CD's and all of the cassettes that Dr. Chopra has ever written. Since 1995, I have listened to Dr. Chopra's audio books and have read 6 of his books as well. All of them I still own and refer to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cosmic Mind
This is the first CD I purchased that helped me to understand what was going on in my own mind.It has a little humor, a little bit of science and the other side reality.A little hard to hear at times because it is an open discussion but well worth listening to if you have ever experienced a coincidence of any sort.I now expect coincidences everyday with a deeper understanding of staying connected to source all the time. ... Product Description
As elegant as his bestselling How to Know God and as practical as his phenomenal The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, this groundbreaking new book from Deepak Chopra contains a dramatic premise: Not only are everyday coincidences meaningful, they actually provide us with glimpses of the field of infinite possibilities that lies at the heart of all things. By gaining access to this wellspring of creation, we can literally rewrite our destinies in any way we wish.

From this realm of pure potential we are connected to everything that exists and everything that is yet to come. “Coincidences” can then be recognized as containing precious clues about particular facets of our lives that require our attention. As you become more aware of coincidences and their meanings, you begin to connect more and more with the underlying field of infinite possibilities. This is when the magic begins. This is when you achieve the spontaneous fulfillment of desire.

At a time when world events may leave us feeling especially insignificant and vulnerable, Deepak Chopra restores our awareness of the awesome powers within us. And through specific principles and exercises he provides the tools with which to create the magnificent, miraculous life that is our birthright.

5-0 out of 5 stars complex
I have the unabridged audiobook. It starts off slow, with about 2 out of the 6 CDs talking about quantum energy. It looks like Chopra wants to "convert you" to this concept. In my opinion, if you bought this book, you don't need all those lenghty explanations, because you know/agree with most of it. After that, by CD number 3, things get hot: he is reading sutras, commenting on them and reminding essential concepts like, without mastering your emotions, spiritual growth is not possible. This is very important. My favorite sutra is "Moksha- I am emotionally free", but you will benefit from each one , depending where you are on your path.
Then he talks a little bit about a spiritual practice involving archetypes. This is a little tricky because, if you don't know a lot about archetypes, it may not be all that rewarding. That made me, for example, start looking about some serious written work on archetypes, which is not easy (I stumbled on Carolyn Myss- big mistake-but now I started from scratch with Carl Jung, a classic in the area).
Anyway, he ends his book with saying that we are ultimately "fields of intelligence" which is obviously true. His book is very encouraging for those who are on a spiritual path, to stay on it and progress, since so many easy techniques are provided. Even if you are not aware of being on a spiritual path, this book may help you realize it.Highly recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars Insight into Intention and Attention
This book has some great explanatory material about the quantum physics behind intention, as well as chapters going into the detail of meditation, mantras and sutras. I also found some of the personal stories about Deepak very interesting and revealing of himself.
These are some key learnings for me:

- We are energy fields and when we interact with other people, other energy fields, they merge and separate leaving parts with each other. This explains how we can be so affected by other people's energy and encourages separation from them.

- The soul is part of the non-local consciousness which is the everlasting, eternal part. This is the part we can touch in meditation, and where we should seek to spend more time. In meditation, we can transcend ego and reach the space in between thoughts. ( I have only just started to find this space after 6 months of meditation, but I can see it coming!)

- Synchronicity is messages from the Universe directing us and helping us towards the goal for our life. Sometimes we may focus our attention on what ego wants, and therefore not attract this. We should focus instead on our purpose in life, and synchronicity will show us the way.

I enjoyed the book, and suspect it will also improve on second reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Deepak Chopra Book and a Favorite Overall
This is a must buy for anyone who enjoys reading books with a slant towards "getting what you want", "law of attraction" types and "new age" or spiritual type self help books.

This book deals specifically with "coincidence", describing how many people don't realize there are reasons behind these synchronistic experiences. This book informs you how these events are not JUST coincidence, and how there are ways to fulfill your desires and create the life you want by paying attention and acting on them.

The writing is an easy comfortable read, is very much in-depth and there are suggested exercises for those who like to put action to what they read.

---*** THE BOTTOM LINE***---
This is a must buy.I have read only four of this author's many books, but this is my favorite by far.I have re-read it many times.
This book is very in-depth and is just as applicable for a "newbie" to this genre or someone who has "read them all".

You will not be disappointed in any way if you get this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ahh, coincidences....
This is one of my most dog-earred books. Long before the so-called-secret came around, Dr. DeePak Chopra was writing about the science of vibrational levels, about the frequency of objects, about the power of thought and meditation. For many decades Dr. Chopra has lived the life, walked the talk and written the volumes from the most acceptable viewpoint of a scientist. He seems to be ahead of his times with a large portion of the planet certainly coming to the same focus. This book truly is an act of courage and an act of love. The reader will ponder life from a wonderfully fresh perspective, and will soon realize there is no such thing as coincidence. Coincidence is but a mirror we draw to us through our individual frequencies of the law of attraction. This book deserves far more stars than 5!

5-0 out of 5 stars Total Joy
This book is for everybody. I do not believe in absolute truth, but the truth that comes out of Chopra in this book points to absolutely every intricate piece of my life. As a psychotherapist, I suggest this as reading to almost all of my clients regardless of their beliefs. This book will enhance your perceptions of what is real and suggest to you the fact that there always has been room for "you" to "breathe." ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Holistic View of Love
Deepak Chopra approaches relationshipa and love in this book in a way that only he can. Combining physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual elements, Chopra explores why we love, what love is, and how we can love each other. The book explores and discusses both romantic and spiritual love - and while the emphasis is on a "traditional" male-female relationship - the book transcends that emphasis into love of self and love of God. A combination of philosophy, stories and practical exercies, meditations and self-questioning sessions make the book interactive and add depth to the reading experience. The flow is a little disjointed, and it does move a little slowly at times as Chopra introduces a smorgasbord of literary and scriptural references into the narrative. However, it is worth the time and you will certainly gain new perspectives on yourself.

“There is no way to peace, peace is the way.”

This statement has never been more true. Now, Deepak Chopra expands on A. J. Muste’s insight, teaching us how to expand awareness, stop reacting out of fear, and reject war—one person at a time. As Dr. Chopra says, “Violence may be innate in human nature, but so is its opposite: love. The next stage of humanity, the leap we are poised to take, will be guided by the force of that love.” ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Chopra preaches for his wallet
First off I believe in peace and war.In the Yin-yang symbol lies perfection which is 1/2 is the Feminine (love) and 1/2 the masculine (war), both are potentials not an always in effect attribute.Chopra would have me believe people like war when in truth this is not the case and instead every war has had propaganda (lies) spread to encourage the population to want it.FDR in WW2 fired the admiral in Pearl Harbor for demanding to keep the ships out of the harbor to nuetralize an effective attack and replaced him. That is treason.Secratary of Defence McNamera in his documentary states the U.S. attacked it's own warship to start the Bay Of Tonkin outrage.Iraq is another blatent example of media lying to promote a hawk position. Is Deepak ignorant of these things.Secondly justice demands physical force be applied because without it A DESPOT dictator will rule unjustly forever.Mao said "political will comes out of the barrel of a gun".So only guns can stop tryanny.Mr. Chopra is like the child who dreams of eating cake to fill their desire for sweets-it just doesn't work. You can pray for peace all you want unless YOU quit paying an illegal income tax to support it, it will continue.SunTzu in the art of War said no country can maintain a standing army-without extremely burdensome taxes I maintain this one couldn't either.Abolish the Illegal Federal Reserve and War will stop

5-0 out of 5 stars Peace is the Way
I found Peace is the Way so helpful and extraordinary that I joined the Peace is the Way movement to create aculture of peace. The teaching is wonderful and I use it every day and have developed iteven further. I have passed it on to my friends and other peace activist.
The only disagreementI have is that Deepak Choprastill uses the male pronoun for God, as God has now gender and is beyond human capacities to understand. Using a gender for God reinforces the patriarchal System and does not achieve peace.

5-0 out of 5 stars Peace - True Source of Happiness
This is an outstanding masterpiece of literature. Deepak, gives you knowledge and understanding of "Peace" into your own daily life. As well, showing how "Peace" can truly happen within the world we live if we all put our actions towards that ultimate goal. The concepts and lessons through each chapter, gives you enlightenment on how truly "Peace" can be transformed one individual at time for a world of "Peace". This is an amazing book which I am definetly sharing with my family and friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars Right on time
A great read for anyone who is of a spiritual mind. The message is right on time!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Beacon For Peace
It was Dr. Chopra who said, "The Seth books present an alternate map of reality with a new diagram of the psyche ... useful to all explorers of consciousness." Chopra's is a sane, calm voice amidst the fear-driven rhetoric of our times. Comparing the birth of a new world to the growth of cells in a fetus until it is ready to be born, he says, "The real answer to why we don't see a new world yet is that it isn't ready to be born. It won't be ready until the building blocks become stronger."
He then goes into detail how we can bring peace into our private lives so that we each become a beacon for peace which, combined with others will then bring the light of love and understanding into the farthest reaches of our world: each one of us a cell for peace. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Magical Book
I began by reading a friends book and loved it so much I wanted to have my own copy to add to my personal library.

4-0 out of 5 stars Clever spin on a traditional tale
This book started off amazing, I was instantly drawn into the story and the author's spin on the traditional King Arthur legend. It almost had a Harry Potter like feel to it where the world created was our own but with instances of unexplained magic and mysteries that somehow were believable the way the author conveyed them.As I approached the last few chapters of the book I wondered how the author would tie up all of the loose ends and get the lesson across that he was so very clearly trying to convey.I must say I was a bit disappointed with the ending.I felt the story had so much potential, but in the end it got lost in itself and wasn't as fulfilling as I had hoped.I would still recommend this book, I just feel it really had the chance to be brilliant instead of just a decent story.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must read - Buy 2 copies!
Read it once for the story
Read it again for the message.
I've never had a book move me into "joy" as this one has, my heart and spirit have been lifted
You will want to keep this book in your collection so buy a second one to give to someone in need of uplifting.
The Return of Merlin

3-0 out of 5 stars More Twists Than A Russian Corkscrew
As a book dealing with the aspect of multiple overlapping parallel realities, you would probably expect a headache after reading some parts of The Return of Merlin.Chopra creates an imaginative and original rendition of the the King Arthur saga, but I'm not entirely sure I would recommend this book based on that. There are a lot of characters, although not as many as in the full Arthurian saga.Add to that the fact that many of those characters have multiple characters (which is a little odd to try to explain), and most of these characters go through several different realities, and you have a story that can be very confusing at times. And I swear I've seen the ending portrayed exactly as described in at least a dozen different movies, across different genres. But, with the particular subject matter, a few cliches aren't terribly surprising.I didn't feel like I wanted to know any of the characters, and sometimes trying to know them in the context of the story was awkward. All in all, I'd say it's average or slightly above average.

2-0 out of 5 stars Merlin stay home
I dislike giving negative reviews, but this book was flat out boring for me.

Too many story lines, with too many characters, and too many superfluous details. The character development was weak, not nearly enough to generate intrest for me.On top of that add the scattered time travel and alternate realities and the plot became too convoluted.

The spirituality in the book is good stuff, but what is there is pretty basic, and there is not all that much of it.

Readers looking for good spiritual fiction would be better off picking something else from my review list.

If it wasn't for dogs, some people would never go for a walk.
--anonymous

Gotham Chopra considers himself a pretty average guy. He devours pizza, lives and dies by his hometown teams, and watches Kung Fu Panda with his son--daily. But his childhood wasn't quite so average. Growing up, Gotham was exposed to the deepest reservoirs of knowledge that his famous father, Deepak, could find; his childhood was part spiritual, part scientific, and totally unique. Now a newly minted father himself, he's contemplating the influences he wants to draw on for his own son. The first was no surprise: his father. The second was unexpected: his dogs.

From Nicholas, the blaze of energy and anarchy who turned the family upside down, to Cleo, a rescue mutt with food issues, the Chopra dogs taught the family about curiosity and wisdom, open-mindedness and passion, not to mention loyalty and pig's ears. But what else, Gotham wondered? And how did these lessons compare to the ones that Deepak himself imparted?

Gotham would soon find out. When his mother took an unexpected trip to India and leaves instructions to look after Papa, father and son have an opportunity for male bonding on a big scale. That this bonding takes place on their daily walks seems almost natural. After all, Gotham also had in his care a nervous dog and an exuberant toddler, both with an insatiable need for exercise and exploration. So Gotham and Deepak walk and talk, discussing the laughs and licks that come with having a dog, along with the contradictions, complexities, and consequences of having children. They soon realize the qualities they observe and admire most in their pets are values we humans would do well to nurture within ourselves. They discover that our best friends have a lot to teach us.

Gotham and Deepak's message may seem simple, but therein lies its brilliance. Heartfelt, endearing, and above all down to earth, Walking Wisdom offers readers both enlightenment and comfort, with a little bit of mayhem thrown in for good measure.

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE GOTHAM's HUMOR !I bought this to read (ho-hum) between novels. His writing is hilarious. His message needed.
GOTHAM IS HILLARIOUS !I bought this wisdom book to read between novels. Thought it would be intellectual, ho hum and slow moving. I couldn't put it down.Gotham hooks you with the way he words every sentence and phrase and has a special style that combines excitement, humor, and in between this is what is so much needed today....wisdom and the opportunity for us all (evolved or not) to look at ourselves and our worlds...to know it was (and is) okay to be imperfect but we all can also change. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. More Gotham Please!Strong emphasis on how to raise a kid in todays world, how to love your family members even if they are different from you. Has the ability to poke fun at God's vice president, Depak Chopra (his father), without offending. GET IT.

Product Description
The author of How to Know God provides help for healing deep trauma—whenever it arises—so we may find peace in ourselves and in our world.

Terror came from the sky, and afterward the world would never be the same. September, 11, 2001, defined tragedy for a generation. On that day Deepak Chopra found himself driving from city to city, meeting thousands of people who begged for meaning and solace in the face of suffering. In response he has written The Deeper Wound, offering a way of healing as a memorial to the thousands of victims who perished.

The opening section, “In the Face of Tragedy,” defines suffering as the pain that threatens to make life meaningless. When our deepest needs go unfulfilled, suffering begins. We begin to heal when we go beyond personal anger and fear to a realization of our true self, the self that was never afraid and can never be wounded.

The true self contains the light that no darkness can attack. Having described a path of awareness and compassion that leads to the light, the second half of The Deeper Wound takes us there through “A Hundred Days of Healing,” daily affirmations, exercises, insights, lessons, and questions—each a step out of pain toward a higher reality. “We can become living memorials to tragedy by restoring the power of life,” writes Deepak Chopra. “You are that life, you are that power. Let us see if we can find the spark that will make the spiritual flame spring up.”

Healing yourself comes in two stages—first releasing the energy of suffering, then replacing it with the soul’s energy. It is a gentle and fragile path, very much like holding on to a thread as it leads you from step to step.

If you take the time to listen to the voice of silence, you will be astonished at the power you have at your command, however long that power has been overlooked.

A portion of the proceeds earned by the author and publisher from the sale of this book will be donated to the Red Cross to aid in humanitarian relief efforts around the world.

I found this book after losing a good friend to mental illness.
nuff said.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Deeper Wound
Although this book was written for the victims' families of 911, I was able to apply the principles within, to the circumstances of loss in my own life.

I also bought the audio book.

September 11, 2001, defined tragedy for a generation. Meeting thousands of people who begged for meaning and solace in the face of suffering, Deepak in response has written The Deeper Wound, offering a way of healing as a memorial to the thousands of victims who perished. It is only one way to look at the subject of fear and suffering and a very valid one at that. Take what you find relevant and helpful to yourself, and leave the rest behind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Scars of deep wounds with recent riots in Gujarat......
The scars of deep wounds are not yet healed when terror knock down the WTC Towers six months ago and here again, the endless natural and man made catastrophe leaves its trails of unforgetful memories of deeper wounds -trauma and hurt with recent Communal Riots in India and Earthquake in Afghanistan. Deepak Chopra in Deeper Wounds describes the emotional states that people go through after a traumatic event so as not to get a person mired with stages of fear, anger, anxiety, shock, helplessness and depression. Deepak uses the perspective to spill off hate from the heart to scratch off the emotional wounds. The author explains that healing yourself comes in two stages-first releasing the energy of suffering, then replacing it with the soul's energy. In the face of tragedy, the first section of the book defines suffering as painful and way of life to a `Hundred days of Healing', daily assertion, exercises, lesson plans and insight to sparkle up the spiritual flame to heal the wounds inside. Deepak's book is in response to the affected people in the tragedy of the twin towers, a portion of the proceeds earned by the author and publisher would be donated to Red Cross and charities on humanitarian grounds. A deeper wound is an exceptional book that raises psychological and spiritual issues raised by the attacks at WTC. Chopra deals with spiritually acceptance of `Where was God when you need him most?' by helping to understand and cope up with trauma situations and overcome negative emotional hurt to restore strength and faith back to gear. He believes and pens down that evil is a form of egoism and describes the power of compassion and awareness. I wish Deepak would once again inspire, encourage and heal the pain of victims of Communal riots in Gujarat and help them tackle to overcome emotional outbursts of hate, waning tolerance, ego, anxiety, fear and violence. A human relationship is on threshold of shattering faith and during these times, Religious differences blur the image of God's world of peace.

3-0 out of 5 stars Why read the obvious?
What makes the reviewer think one has to read a book to review it? Deekpak spends a lot of time on the TV book promotion trail talking about his latest masterpiece -- a cashing in on the tragedy of others sorrow. Now it seems the author has leaped from the specific tragedy of 9/11 to the generalized tragedy which inflicts the six billion souls on the globe. That he has found a new garb for his garu tongue adds little to the price of sweat in China. That world suffering never diminishes is probably the best evidence not to spend time with these heavily spaded up fields of soothing herbal salve. None of the readers can point to any specific, verifyable first aid this book has provided for their wounds. Writers who take out a lease on wearing the garu hat never offer any authenticity to their generalized claims of relieving life's agony. I think the five stars are to soothe their own pain. ... Product Description
Deepak Chopra has discovered the delights—and frustrations—of golf, and he is passionate about the game. Confronted by the wild ups and downs of his own play, he consulted with golf professionals and developed a new approach to the game that any golfer can follow—from the novice to the expert. The results can be measured not only in increased enjoyment and skill, but also in greater wisdom about life beyond the 18th hole.

Chopra’s own game has improved dramatically since incorporating the elements of his program. Instead of focusing on the mechanics of a “perfect” swing, Chopra reveals how golf can be mastered through mindfulness, a form of awareness that combines sharp focus and relaxation at the same time. Expanded awareness, he tells us, can accomplish much more than external mechanics to improve one’s game.

But Golf for Enlightenment is also an engrossing story about Adam, an Everyman who is playing a terrible round of golf when he meets a mysterious young teaching pro named Leela. In seven short but profound lessons detailing spiritual strategies, she teaches Adam the essence of a game that has much to explain about life itself.
Chopra has spent the last year taking the unique message in Golf for Enlightenment nationwide, teaching the essential tenets of his program at lectures and seminars to golfers everywhere. His message continues to help players turn an obsession into a positive life path. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Tony
The service by the lady in Montana was excellent as was the condition of the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars He's done it again!
What a fabulous book Deepak Chopra has written.

I purchased this book to open my father up to the possibility that there is more to life than what are senses can inform us.He is a world famous chemist, and appropriately, a pretty fine golfer, yet he has little faith in the Unseen forces that many of the saints declare to actually exist.

Currently, he is reading this book as he vacations in Mexico, and I trust that it will candidly open his heart up to a new perspective on life and the exciting possibility of higher yet experiencial states of consciousness which are our birthright to acknowledge and experience in our daily lives.

Every page of this book strikes a cord in the heart, resonating somewhere deep within and reminds us that, even though we play competitive daily games to often survive or simply to entertain us, there is an Infinite Game that, when acknowledged, leads us to our hearts, helps us to excel, and bonds us with the rest of humanity's desire to understand and express what it means to be truly human.

I seriously recommend this book to anyone and I know that my father will be better off after having read it.I can't wait to talk to him when he get's back and play golf together when the spring comes..I love him.

Thank you Deepak Chopra

3-0 out of 5 stars Strained Format
Dr. Chopra offers good advice for the "feel" aspect of golf -- getting out of the head and into the moment, turning down the interior noise, breathing deeply, swinging with a conviction based on interior knowledge rather than exterior sight. All that is timeless, supremely useful, and clear when Chopra writes from the first-person, in his introduction and chapter summaries. But I wish he hadn't felt it necessary to wrap his counsel in the gauze of the ridiculous fairy tale of Adam and Leela, which fluffs his brief teaching up to book-length. Perhaps some people learn better this way, but such contrived dream sequences as these bring only confusion to my mind, as well as evoking the scorn that hard-headed realists feel for all things "New Age."

5-0 out of 5 stars Who's guess that Deepak could hit a hole-n-one on Golf... A+
Who's guess that Deepak could hit a hole-n-one on Golf... A+ listen as an Audion CD or download. This is excellent book to kill time on a long drive or to listen to in the background as you work on the computer.

Amazing how Deepak can tie improving your golf game to the challenge of improving your life. I highly recommend but then I haven't found anything from Deepak Chopra that I don't find of excellent value.

Try it, you'll not be disappointed... especially the audio version.

4-0 out of 5 stars Approaches mental aspect of golf uniquely.
I think this is a good book on golf on the mental side. However, I don't agree with that a golf swing just disappears. With the proper technique, the effective golf swing will not disappear.I also like the book he had written many years ago called Creative Visualization--great mental imagery. In addition, I found Patrick Leonardi's book titled:
"The Ultimate Golf Instruction Guide: Key Techniques for Becoming a Zero Handicap Golfer or Better" one of the greatest books I've read on golf instruction. At first I was skeptical about this book after hearing from my friends how much this book helped them lower their scores.I'm convinced now because after utilizing "The Ultimate Golf Instruction Guide" now I not only score below 90( which I never have done before in my golfing career) but now I actually broke 80. Well worth the time to learn these techniques and it's way better than taking golf lessons. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book that combines spirituality and science!
And still makes sense!
I have read a few of Deepak's books, and finally have come out with a belief that he is talking out of his league in most of the books (on happiness and realization etc). But this book is a classic.
Deepak Chopra was a trained MD/Doctor in the east coast before taking on Ayurveda and spirituality as full time job! This is one book where he combines his medical knowledge and spiritual knowledge in right doses and makes a good sense out of that.
He manages to capture the Indian spirituality (the real one behind all the rituals and religions of India), and makes it easy to understand for everyone (including indians like me). The scientific rigor in this book is what is appealing to me.
In all a great read and a few points to take away (for changing your lifestyle for the better).
Update: My review is about a older edition of the book (paperback); not sure if it has changed now in this edition (The Amazon writeup about this book doesn't give me much confidence - the writeup is obscure).

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Purchase
Wasn't as amazing as others had made it out to be, BUT I still love the book and so does my three-year-old daughter.

Illustrations are very ornate - very beautiful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lovely Metaphysical Message
"Tara sang as she walked with her grandfather on a wide flat beach under a canopy of stars. She was five and a half years old, an age when the world is very much alive. The moon was peeking curiously over the horizon; the waves crept in to tickle Tara's toes and listen." - From You with the Stars in Your Eyes

In his first book for children, author Deepak Chopra weaves a metaphysical tale of cosmic consciousness and the expansiveness of our Being. Brightly illustrated by former Disney animator Dave Zaboski, You with the Stars in Your Eyes follows an interesting conversation between a Grandfather and his Granddaughter as they stroll along a beach.

When Tara asks Grandfather how much he loves her and he replies "More than all the stars in the sky", the wide-eyed child asks "Why?" Caught off-guard, Grandfather muses all sorts of complex grown-up thoughts--not quite sure how to answer her penetrating question.

The beautiful Moon, bedecked in her finery, rises and walks with them on the beach. She answers Tara "Because you came from the stars..."

The Moon loved to talk of love, so she begins to share secrets about where Tara (and all of us) came from and how the Illuminated Ones "...streams down and makes the wind blow, the grasses grow, and the dew drops glow. Our light gets into all things."

When Tara asks the Moon "Who made our eyes?" she answers, exclaiming "Ah! That's the most important thing!"

The Moon's explanation to Tara and her Grandfather hints at the profound spiritual concept that we are, in essence, mirrors for the "stars" so they can see themselves.

My son was fascinated with this story, especially when he saw the fiery, smiling masculine Sun, the lovely feminine Moon and the bright harlequin stars--all "seeing" themselves through our eyes. He was delighted when he noticed that the Grandfather looked a lot like the author, Deepak Chopra!

Discover the magic for yourself by reading You with the Stars in Your Eyes; although created for children, everyone can benefit from the reminder that we're all "star stuff"--inextricably connected to the Universe, permeated with brilliant, boundless eternal Light.

-- Janet Boyer, author of Back in Time Tarot

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding
Although this book is very different then many of Chopra's, it is an outstanding story. This book is more of a story then Deepak's usual guide like books. I found this book touched me like no other story ever has. It will remain on my book shelf for many years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary take on fiction
First I congratulate Mr. Chopra on writing this piece for the fiction genre. This was a really good book. I have to admit thought, that the true essence of it may be lost to the average reader, unless they are farmiliar with Chopra's philosophies (and not just his) on the mind-body connection, consciousness and of course, Love! It's not the usual romance... its Love of a higher level. He touches on love and death and life as it really is, as it should be. Each of us is a spark of divinity, a link to the other, a part of a whole called consciousness. The Athma! Chopra merged it all into fictional characters and characterization. I loved his medical jargon and psychiatric/pharmacological stanse.

It's a lovely story of love ... the true meaning and power of love!

5-0 out of 5 stars So soulful!
This was the first and only Deepak Chopra book I have read to date. I thought it was an excellent read. It was emotionally draining for me, though. After I finished reading this book, I couldn't think of anything else for a week. It's a part of my collection!

3-0 out of 5 stars Chopra's fiction second to non-fiction
Review of "Soulmate" (a novel) by Deepak Chopra. Published by Putnam, 2001, 290 pages, ISBN: 0-399-14798-5.
I chose to review this book because I've been a fan of the mind-body-spirit leader and author Deepak Chopra. I had the pleasure of attending an event featuring him at the Unity Church in Dallas, TX. Dr. Chopra had a charismatic stage presence, and a message of healing that riveted the audience. After reading several of his non-fiction works, including "Creating Affluence" and "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" and "The Path to Love," I wanted to discover how this esteemed author handled fiction.

The main character of the book is a New York City doctor named Raj who is doing an internship in psychiatry. His days are full, yet he feels empty. Although the first paragraph states that Raj "had yet to fall in love" he is already engaged to a social worker named Maya. Call it coincidence or fate, Raj rescues a woman dressed for a wedding on the subway because she is being harassed by "a couple of punks." The opening conversation between the two characters is trite and incredulous. The narrator describes Molly as a popular Broadway lead actress who was a "frantic bridesmaid stuck in midtown traffic with a beat-up car that dies at the worst possible moment. Unable to resuscitate it, she ditches and runs." If you've ever been to New York City, you'd know that taxis are readily available. If a Broadway actress indeed owns a car (most NYC residents don't even drive) the vehicle would be a more reliable ride than the jalopy he describes. Furthermore, Molly claims "to plead with someone to give me subway fare" indicating that she did not carry money. Thus, the knight (Raj) rescues the damsel in distress (Molly) which (in my opinion) is a cliché rendered in fairy tales.

Raj has an affair with Molly, which causes him to question the meaning of love. Chopra offers bits of his ubiquitous wisdom as the love story progresses, making the entire book worthwhile. He writes: "The man who surrenders is always open, always observing. You seek detachment not so that nothing can touch you, but so that you have enough space to find out what is real." That information is an example of why I read his books. As a psych intern, Raj tells Molly, "Therapy is a way to give people better ways to be human...I really believe that." As a facilitator of group therapy and a recipient of counseling, I really believe that too. Occasionally, Chopra gives the reader good metaphors, as with this sentence in reference to a psych patient: " Her shipwrecked mind drifted before it found any port of calm." As for romance, Raj discovers that "He loved Molly and Maya equally" and he has to answer the question "Is it possible to be deeply in love with more than one person at the same time?" You have to read the book to see how the author answers that question.

I would recommend any book written by Deepak Chopra. He has filled a void in our society by teaching us about health and healing, peace and love. If a romance novel gets his message across, then there's no reason not to give "Soulmate" a try. However, my personal preference will be to keep his non-fiction work on my bookshelf.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I was looking forward to a great lesson about love, attraction and respect but surprisingly it gives lame excuses for cheating in two situations (like people haven't got enough excuses by themselves). Submissive behavior on the part of the cheated one is predominant as well. It depicts the psychiatric profession in the USA as completely disinterested in its patients improvement, which I don't know to what extent is true. Other than that, it is a good story about inspiration and being open to new ideas and approaches. ... Read more

Product Description
In this refreshing new take on spirituality, bestselling author Deepak Chopra uses a fictional tale of a comedian and his unlikely mentor to show us a path back to hope, joy, and even enlightenment—with a lot of laughter along the way.

Meet Mickey Fellows. A successful L.A. comedian, he’s just a regular guy, with his fair share of fears, egocentricities, and addictions. After his father’s death, Mickey meets a mysterious stranger named Francisco, who changes his life forever. The two begin an ongoing discussion about the true nature of being. Reluctantly at first, Mickey accepts the stranger’s help and starts to explore his own life in an effort to answer the riddles Francisco poses. Mickey starts to look at those aspects of himself that he has hidden behind a wall of wisecracks all his life. Eventually Mickey realizes that authentic humor opens him up to the power of spirit—allowing him to finally make real connections with people.

After taking the reader on a journey with Mickey, Chopra then spells out the lessons that Mickey’s story imparts to us: ten reasons to be optimistic, even in our challenging world. Chopra believes that the healthiest response to life is laughter from the heart, and even in the face of global turmoil, we can cultivate an internal sense of optimism. Rich with humor and practical advice, Why Is God Laughing? shows us without a doubt that there is always a reason to be grateful, that every possibility holds the promise of abundance, and that obstacles are simply opportunities in disguise. In the end, we really don’t need a reason to be happy. The power of happiness lies within each of us, just waiting to be unleashed. And Mickey Fellows’s journey shows us the way.

3-0 out of 5 stars a formula story
This book was a bit of a disappointment, as I found the story a bit flat and predictable. HOWEVER, the prinicples at the back of the book make it worth the time and money.

3-0 out of 5 stars Short on the 'How' and 'Why', but GREAT on the 'What'
Just wanted to leave a quick note about how I generally enjoyed this book. Some of the jokes still make me giggle when I think of them.I think it's great as a 'What' to do once we find that we are in an illusion of our own creating.LAUGH!'Cause it is funny when you generally get what we are doing to ourselves in this shabby substitute for reality. The book wasn't great on the 'how' this could happen or 'why' it happened, but having said that, if you find yourself in a burning house, do you ask 'why' or 'how' it could happen?NO!You just GET OUT!And I think this book goes a long way in showing us how to do just that.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pseudo-Religious teacher
Never buy a book until you research the author first. I did this for the first time with this book which was a mistake. Looking on google under Deepak Chopra, he has claimed to have caused an earthquake while meditating on Siva, on his twitter or facebook account. Im not saying this is impossible, but if you are in tune with God you will in no way harm anyone, or have a social network profile for that matter. So he lies. Anyway, the book is very vulgar to be even considered spiritual( true teachers don't want to offend anyone) has one or two good beginning points (to laugh and know you are not the ego) and at the end says to find God you must stop struggling, DEAD END. This is dangerous, eager spiritual aspirants now think all they have to do is stop trying to find God, theres a sigh of relief, no hard work to attain the highest spiritual goal, so they stop trying and their untamed mind goes crazy and they revert to old ways and habits. Jesus said through much tribulation the kingdom of heaven is attained, it took many years if not lifetimes to create our bad mental habits and will take many years of hard opposition until at last you find that there is no more struggle and you are naturally in silence and bliss. Rome wasn't built in a day! I will in no way read from this man again. Spiritual matters being the most important, you must dig deep before you consider a teacher. You wouldn't take directions to a mountain from someone who hasn't been there before, would you? Similarly, do not try to find God through someone who has not found him. For true realized religion, read Swami Vivekananda, Paramanhansa Yogananda, Sri Ramana Maharshi, Jesus, Krishna, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Therese Neumann, and other true teachers who are backed by experience, wisdom, and eye witness of miracles. I listened to the audio book and felt that Deepak Chopra was reading and seeing much of this material for the first time. The jokes were funny, but delivered by Chopra, seemed awkward. It made me wonder if he provided an outline to a ghost writer and asked him or her to fill in the blanks. Then he assembled the whole thing, added his basic philosophy, and called it a wrap.

This book would have been better presented by a voiceover professional, as Chopra's rendering is deadpan and halting. When he reads slangy expressions they are intoned in a way that makes me think, "He couldn't have written this stuff."

I have read and heard dozens of Chopra's books and I am a fan of his approach to life and healing, but this book is getting praise simply because people love Chopra, not because it is a good product. I would much rather hear straightforward statements than be patronized with a parable about a clueless person who finally wakes up. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Tiny Print
I haven't even read the book yet, but I do love Deepak's books so I hope to soon... if I can manage to deal with the incredibly small print. The pages have a small area for the text with large margins (which could be nice for notes) and super tiny font. The other books I've read by Deepak Chopra have been easy to read with average font size - this one is so tiny I've been delaying even reading it.I will leave another review about the book's contents if I ever read it.I may have to get a different copy - possibly the hardback, or go to a bookstore to see if I can find one that has more normal font size.I'm not vision challenged, just a normal vision with reading glasses, but just to let anyone know that might not want to strain that much.

5-0 out of 5 stars same book different title
This is the same book as The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire.I lost the book first time, so I ordered this one and a copy of spontaneous fulfillment, only to find they are the same book! That was confusing. So now I have two copies of the same book.Having said that, however, it is the greatest book ever written, so I'm not too upset about having two copies. Now I have one for the gym and one for home. Warning:Do not get this book if you already have The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire, because they are the same book.

Deepak Chopra is a great author and spiritual leader. I would recommend anything written by him.

4-0 out of 5 stars Complex concepts made simple
For someone who loves reading books on metaphysical and spiritual topics, I have hardly read any of Deepak Chopra's work - apart from one of his fiction books, SynchroDestiny is the first of his books that I've delved into! Luckily, it was a good introduction to Deepak and his style of writing, so I'll definitely be investing in some more of his books soon :).

This particular book focuses on the phenomenon of synchronicities - those apparent coincidences that illustrate the larger forces at work in our lives. As the book's blurb states, "...there is no such thing as a meaningless coincidence."

The first part of SynchroDestiny focuses on the science that lies behind synchronicities and the Law Of Attraction. If you're looking for a simple, clear explanation of some of the principles of quantum physics and nonlocal intelligence (the field), this is it. Deepak is definitely very skilled in explaining complex concepts in a very user-friendly manner! This section of the book also goes deeply into the concepts of coincidence and intention.

The second part of the book is devoted to the practical exploration of the concepts. These exercises are centred around the process of meditation, using mantras to focus the mind. I found these exercises interesting and useful, although I altered the process of meditation described to fit with my own style of meditating. Deepak's methods may work for him and for others, but I found them to disruptive to my own rhythm, and I therefore had much more success when I integrated his techniques with my own. Don't be afraid to experiment a bit to find what works for you - there is no "one size fits all" size of meditating!

Throughout the book, Deepak makes reference to the ancient Eastern wisdom of Vedanta, which describes much of what quantum physics is only now discovering regarding how the universe functions. In this respect, it is also incredibly interesting to read SynchroDestiny's Appendix A, in which Deepak outlines the principles of the Hermetic tradition, which has its origins in ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt, to illustrate how these principles match those of the Vedanta. Reading these ancient teachings demonstrates clearly that the Law Of Attraction is not new!

5-0 out of 5 stars Deepak Unpacked
This is a masterpiece from a master. Of all of Deepaks books, I found this to be the most practical. If you are new to these paradigms or an ardent practioner you will find the way that Deepak unpacks the somewhat mysticism of this subject so refreshing. Yes there are other books on the topic, yet this one is the one that inspired me to take take action through daily rituals. Becoming even more aware of synchronicity and harnessing this power is the greatest gift you may receive. Thanks Deepak, I continue to follow my bliss and inspire youth to their full potential. Until we meeet again my firend, all that is divine in me honours all that is divine in you. ... Read more
