5-0 out of 5 stars A Lesson in Loving ALWAYS
Linda Chaikin impresses me every time I read one of her books. Friday's Child was no different. It has just the right balance between action and romance.

Vanessa gives all young Christian girls a character to look up to. I know that I admire her, even though she has never stepped off of the pages of Mrs. Chaikin's books. She has the ability to love no matter what, which I still lack. She loves her father, who abandoned her at a young age, and she loves in the midst of war.

Mrs. Chaikin has outdone herself this time. Though I have not read Thursday's Child yet, Friday's Child is by far my favorite of A Day To Remember series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great addition to A DAY TO REMEMBER!
Linda Chaikin just keeps getting better and better! Great characters. This is set in London, England and Scotland during WWII. Vanessa receives a message from her father who had abandoned her and her brother Kylie to come to his estate in Scotland. Vanessa wants to the peacemaker in the family and so she sets out to make things right between her father and her brother. Little did she know that she would walk into mysterious happenings at the mansion. Her half-sister, Lucy is resentful against her coming there thinking that she would steal the estate from her. But is the estate really the Miles's? A mysterious caretaker, Kerc Trevalyan what is he after? Vanessa is loving and giving as she sets out to right the wrongs in her life with her father. Great story, great ending!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
I think this series just gets better with every book. I really enjoyed it. In my opinion, there was only one little problem. The back cover summary thing was kind of misleading. So just disregard what it says. If you liked the other books in the series, this is a must read. What a great book! I highly recommend it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars WW 1 romance set in Egypt Author makes you imagine the grit of the sand everywhere!
I found Arabian Winds to be very interesting. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and there are many, and especially enjoyed the author's vivid descriptions of the Arabian desert and what it must have been like dealing with it during that era. There is espionage, and mystery and some romance, but I confess that I am one who detests romances where the hero and heroine are constantly separated so if this story goes there,I will refuse to follow!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing story rich with romance, suspense, and history!
I'm new to Linda Chaikin's novels, but I simply can't wait to read the rest of her books...this was beyond a surprise. I couldn't put it down! The entire series is amazing (book #2 is "Lions of the Desert" and book #3 is "Valiant Hearts"), and I love the way Linda mixes romance with history and mystery. The chemistry between the two main characters simply jumps off the page and the plot is so interesting that it'll have you reading all night to find out what happens! A must-have for anyone who enjoys Christian romance, historical fiction, or mystery.

The first book is set in the months before World War I, in Egypt, where nurse Allison Wescott finds herself caught up in a world of murder and espionage, not to mention romance, as she's caught between two loves (her fiance and a mysterious British officer).

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This is the best of Chaikin! It's both romance and mystery! You won't be able to put it down! The plot is great and the characters are fantastic! If you haven't had the opportunity to read Arabian Winds then your missing out on one of the best Christian romances series ever!

5-0 out of 5 stars Intriguing Romance

5-0 out of 5 stars Under Eastern Stars
Glad to get this book at a very reasonable cost. Will add to our church library's collection to complete this series.Book was in excellent condition. Thanks so much!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best in the series...a wonderful story!
I enjoyed this book much more than the first novel in the "Heart of India" series, "Silk", probably because of the wonderful interactions between Coral and Jace. Their chemistry almost jumps off the page! I loved the way these two characters were written, and the last half of the book was almost impossible to put down.

As with the first book, though, the story can be a bit confusing, unless you're a master at remembering names and events. I found this book less confusing than the first, however, and much easier to read. I would definitely recommend this series, though, in spite of its flaws!

4-0 out of 5 stars Gloryifing!
Under Eastern Stars was full of passion and heartache that swept you up in the story! It shows the importance of how God can work miracles in your life, all you have to do is have faith and believe in him! I loved this book, especially the whole series!

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved this one!
I have to say that this installment in the heart of india series is quite possibly the best!Jace plays a biger role in this one, and the competition between the two men over Coral is humorous in some spots, and breathtaking in another, because you wish it would happen to you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Written!
In this 2nd book of HEART OF INDIA series, Coral Kendall goes home to India to journey through the jungles to get home to her mother and to start a school for the untouchables. Coral is also still searching for Gem, the little boy she adopted and who was kidnapped and presumed dead. To find Gem she enlists the help of the mysterious Jace Buckley. Will Jace ever find Gem's whereabouts? Will her uncle Hugo somehow stop them from finding him? A great book about the jungles of India and the dangers found there. You will be breathless to the end. Adventure, romance and danger...what more do you want? Great book about God's love and how He cares about even the most seemingly hopeless people. Another winner by Linda Chaikin! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Kingscote
I had another book I was reading when this one came so I have just started it.It came in great condition and so far it is very exciting as all of her books have been.

4-0 out of 5 stars An amazing book
This book was really good! It held the mystery of the rest of the Heart of India Series which are Silk (Heart of India) and under Eastern Stars (Heart of India, #2). Those books were all so good, besides the fact that you have to wait to get the next one at the library they were pretty good books. They were really interesting and the mystery was always so compelling. It drew you in so well and made you feel like you were along for the ride with Jace and Coral in the adventure of figuring out what happened to Gem, Coral's adopted son who has been mysteriously murdered but Coral has reasons to beleive he is still alive somewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great end to a wonderful series
Though it has many flaws (in terms of plot-holes and timing issues), this series is not to be missed. The story is intricate and complex, and though it is at times confusing, it's very exciting and it holds your interest.

The story of Coral and Jace is beautiful, and at times, frustrating. You simply can't wait until they're together at last! You'll laugh, you'll cheer, and yes, you'll be so frustrated that you'll throw the book across the room, but in the end, you'll be satisfied. Linda Chaikin has a way of making the romance in her books seem effortless and natural...it hardly ever seems forced or rushed, and that's very rare in Christian romance.

If you liked this series, be sure to check out Linda's other books...they don't disappoint!

2-0 out of 5 stars Cultural insensitivity
At it's finest.Of course, after reading the author info blurb and discovering that she is part of a "church-planting" group working in Kerala, I should have realised that the author would have a skewed view of any non-evangelical Christian religion.
As an earlier reviewer noted, the author mis-uses Hindi honorifics, and none of the Hindu/Indian characters are particularly admirable in their behavior. The only "good" Indians in the series seemed to be "Gem" the adopted child of Coral and "Jemani", Gem's mother, who had converted too Christianity.
Historical inaccuracies abound as well...the metric system wasn't adopted in France until 1795, and wasn't made compulsory in France until the 1840s.So the use of the metric units of measure by the male lead was incorrect, as the British used the Imperial standard of measure until well into the 19th and 20th century.
I had a hard time reading this book, as the opinions and the inaccuracies of the author kept pulling me out of the story.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sad that it ends
The fight scenes in this last installment of Chaikin's Heart of India series are as usual in Chaikin's writing quite good really. She keeps the whole thing masculine, as it should be, instead of playing things down completely for the women readers.Coral and Jace continue their love story in much the same way as in the first two books, and everything is righted in Coral's world at the end.All in all, this was a good read that the avid Chaikin reader will enjoy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Endangered (Portraits Series)
Was a very exciting book. Was hard to put down once I started reading it. A very well written book. I would recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fabulous story in exotic Kenya. Romance and adventure.
This book I definitely recommend. "Endangered" has romance, adventure, endangered wildlife, the culture of the people living there (Maasai) and a terrific well-developed plot for only 250 pages. Sable Dunsmoor comes back to Kenya from Canada to help her sister Kate to build wells for the people living there and to her father who is a wildlife preserve warden. Her money for the project is missing. She also comes upon a group of suspected poachers and finds that her old flame Kash Hallet is the boss of the outfit. Kash Hallet was in love with her before she went to Canada with her mother who was dying from cancer. She is also whirling with questions of Kash's innocence from poaching: before he had cared about the animals as she had. Is he out for money? Kash is also determined to renew their romance and to win her trust away from her finacee Dr.Vince Adler. Whom should Sable trust? Will she also get to her father in time? A great story about the depleting population of exotic animals and adminstrating God's word to a troubled East African country. Definitely read this if you like romance, adventure, love for God and his people. I will read it more than once!

5-0 out of 5 stars An exciting look into a neglected time period
I decided to give Chaikin a try when I discovered she had some pirate books. But some of the books in the series were so pricey that I decided to try out an inexpensive series to see if it would be worth it... I mean, what if I didn't like her writing style?

Well, turns out that it is bittersweet. I have read the 1st and 2nd and eagerly await the 3rd. Which is very sadly, the last!

This story stars Tancred Redwan, soon to be Count (if he can get his name cleared from his brothers death) escaping from his castle in order to bring his brothers true killer to justice. His father was a Norman count (in Sicily) and his mother was a moor. He, supposedly, is quite dreamy (which is what I expect ALL my romantic heroes to be!).

Helena of the Nobility is a Byzantine lady in search of her mother who, up til recently, she believed was dead. She is involved in the Byzantine intrigue using spies in order to protect herself. Also, she is in love and plans on marrying her cousin (yuck), Philip-- a man with ambition to become emperor.

They share a common relationship: Tancred's godfather, Nicholas, is Helena's beloved uncle. They meet by coincidence, both seeking him among the lines of Norman princes traveling for the crusades.

There are lots of characters and plently of side stories to keep track of. But, while you need to pay attention, it is not distracting or overboard. I am quite interested in this period (thanks to Chaikin). As for there being TOO much history, I think any remotely educated person might enjoy some enlightenment into a different time period-- and what a delightful way to learn!!

It is a wonderfully written saga and even though I think I know who will get the girl in the end of the series, it is well worth the read. The side plots and twists and turns keep the book suspenseful.

I cannot wait to read the last book... I only hope that there is a misplaced manuscript for the 4th so I won't have to say goodbye!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable...
This first book in the trilogy captures the reader's attention, and makes him want to read the other two.It was hard to find though, because the set has gone out of print, I was lucky enough to find it at my library though.Tancred is somewhat typical of Chaikin's male characters, and the twist with him is somewhat similar to that of Bruce Hawkins in Captive Heart (the first installment in Chaikin's Trade Winds series).
The second and third books are slightly more exciting, but for starters, this really is a good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Swords and Scimitars
Swords and Scimitars by Linda Chaikin is a great book. I like how Mrs. Chaikin got her historical people and events so accurate. She has good character development and a great plot summery. The dialoged in Swords and Scimitars is also well done. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes historical-fiction novels.

5-0 out of 5 stars Please make this rating go up!!!!
This book is definitely a five starer or even more!! Lady Helena Lysander of the Nobility is caught up in political intrigue in the Byzantine city, Constantinople in 1096 during the crusades; intrigue that would have her ended up a reluctant bride of a Moslem prince. Tancred Jehan Redwan is a Norman/Moorish warrior framed for murdering his half-brother, Derek and escaped craven to pursue Mosul his Moorish cousin, the assassin. He is caught up with the events of the Peasant crusade led by Peter the Hermit and meets Helena on his way to Constantinople. Helena was searching for her uncle, Nicholas, to try to thwart her aunt Irene's plans and find her mother whom she believes is not dead but held captive in the Moslem territory. Tancred's and Helena's paths entwined and she decides to enlist his help in locating her mother and escaping marriage to the Moslem prince. Great story about love, courage during the First Crusade. Linda Chaikin did a great job with this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm taking time to write just to make the rating go up
I don't have much time, but I can't believe some people gave such bad reviews for this books. It's not one of my favorites, but it is well done. Furthermore, it is meant as a sort of lead in to all that happens betweenHelena and Tancred. It is a scrumptious book! I took the time to write thisreview, so hope hope that you take the time to read the book. It's worthit! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book, but...
FYI: This book was published in an little different form under Nevada Jade. For Desert Rose, Ms. Chaikin revamped and added to the plot but the story line and characters are similar to those in Nevada Jade.

5-0 out of 5 stars Captivating.
I loved this book. Linda Chaikin is one of my favourite authors. She takes you to the Old West 1859 to Nevada where Virginia City is booming with silver. Annalee Halliday's father had struck it rich there! Annalee couldn't wait to tell her mother the good news. As the Hallidays travel from California to join him, they became trapped in a fierce winter fighting for survival. Marshal Brett Wilder is also searching for Jack Halliday...but not for the same reason. He is commissioned by the governor to arrest Jack Halliday for a murderer of a card dealer and for crippling Brett's father's arm who was a great surgeon. He rescues Annalee and her family from death. Annalee fights her attraction for the handsome lawman and her illness. She tries to deny the fact that she is not strong but her Lord could use her to have an impact on other people's lives. A great and wonderfull story about a young woman and her feelings of worthlessness and heartbreak and a handsome Brett Wilder who struggles with showing justice and mercy to the people who ruined his and his father's lives. I have news for everyone who likes this book. There is a sequel and it's called "Desert Star" and is due to be published in January! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The best ever!
This book was by far the best out of the Arabian Winds series! It kept me on my toes and I read it in one night! It was SO good..but i recommend you first read Arabian Winds and after that one Lions of the Desert and then finally read this one but the others are so interesting that it really makes you keep on reading these books. They were so good, filled with adventures and romance the best combination ever!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful end to a wonderful series!
This is the third and final book in Linda Chaikin's Egypt trilogy, and it doesn't disappoint. Allison's back with a fresh tale of murder, espionage, and romance, as she deals with her relationship with British officer Bret Holden. These two characters will blow you away...the chemistry is amazing. Furthermore, the plot is so intricate and exciting that you'll be up all night reading it! Although the end is slightly rushed, it's still very well done and definitely a must-read for Christian romance, historical fiction, and mystery fans.

Be sure to check out book #1 in this series, "Arabian Winds", and book #2, "Lions of the Desert", before reading this one. And I hope you find it, as this is an extremely rare book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Mystery I ever read!
Wow!I loved this whole series!Definitely my favorite! The last book wrapped everything up so well.I couldn't help but think this series reminded me of a "Ten Little Indians" meets "Indiana Jones" at "Pearl Harbor".Kind of a 'who-dun-it' mystery, which was great! It was suspensful, mysterious, romantic, and even (dare I say it?) educational!Awesome!A must read for anyone who wants an inspirational romance series with some meat to it!

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent, well-written book and a superb conclusion!
I couldn't get over this book. I have read it at least more than a dozen times. I still think it's one of the best books I've ever read. Allison Wescott, a WWI British field nurse, is wondering about what the rumours in Cairo about the man she loves: Colonel Bret Holden. Bret is being accused of smuggling treasures and committing treason. Allison knows that the charges cannot be true. Bret Holden is one of the most valiant, loyal men she has ever met. Why the accusations? But Bret isn't anywhere near to tell her what is going on...and the Egyptian treasure, the golden statue of Nefertari that Allison and Bret had found in a sundial, is missing too. Could the accusations have some truth to them? Where is Bret? Then there is also the trial of Allison's cousin Gilbert Simonds along with a new speculation by Allison's sister Beth that Sarah Blaine's death is not what it had appeared at first. Did Gilbert really kill Sarah? If not then who? Allison must learn to trust in Bret and her Lord as she navigates through the treacherous path of espionage, murder, deceit, suspicion and betrayal. She then finds out that she has become the target of another murderer. The big fish that everyone is looking for. What does the future have in store for Allison and Bret? Will they come through this alive? A thriller story to be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. What a terrific conclusion to Linda Chaikin's LIONS OF THE DESERT series. I'm looking forward to whatever more is coming our way from her!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Series!
I loved this book! The whole series is fantastic, and this book was a perfect addition to it. The characters of Brent and Allison are very believable and very entertaining. The books also contain a good spiritual aspect and are very funny and touching in parts. I highly recommend them all. Superb read! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So good, it could be made into a movie!
The way Linda wrote these books, the characters just came to life. Each book in the seies adds to the mystery about Gem, and the love triangle between Eithan and Jace for Coral. I loved everything about this story, there aren't a lot of books that have it all, romance, adventure, mystery...you name it. I would love to see this be made into a film. I think that it would be a great hit, because the story just comes to life, and the characters stay with you. This story makes you feel as if your one of the characters they way that is written!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
These books are a most to get! I loved everyone of them in the series! I sure hope that they come out with a movie soon!

5-0 out of 5 stars An Intriguing Twist
First of all, I've read the Heart of India series 4 times so I know that when I say that this is an amazing series you can trust me. If you have never read any of Linda Chaikin's books this is the one to start with. I give this book to my friends who are looking for a good read. The biggest complaint about this book that I've heard is that the beginning is kind of slow. Once I read the rest of Chaikin's books I agreed, but if you read this book first you won't even notice that it's a little slow because you'll be so wrapped up in the adventure, mystery, and intrigue. This book takes place in 18th century India. Chaikin did a remarkable job in describing the Hindu culture and the tension between them and the English who live in India, like the main characters, Coral Kendall and Jace Buckley. Chaikin also puts hisorical characters into her books, such as William Carey and John Newton (the man who wrote "Amazing Grace.")Please take my advice and read this book series. You won't regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
All three books were fabulous, but I liked the last one, Kingscote, the best. They just kept getting better! They'll keep you in suspense. I recommend these to anyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars IF YOU DO NOT LOVE THEM YOU ARE CRAZY!
When I first started reading the first of the three books, I was in awe that one person could keep so much faith after such tragities. And the irony when Coral & Jace fall in love gives so much hope to all who readthis series. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic
I have never read a book before by Linda Chaikin.I have another one, but will probably get rid of it and not waste my time.It took forever to sort out the characters, and to realize what time frame the setting took place. For the main character, Kristin, to fall so quickly "in love" with Jorden, a member of the Israeli secret police, was nothing short of an old Harliquin romance.I find it interesting that one of the other reviews said that Chaikin was able to answer and sort out loose ends of the story. In the epilogue only! The book is too long and story lines based on supposition instead of evidence to feel like the loose ends were tied with a secure knot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good
this is a very good book definatly but better hury there noit in print any more so don't wait and then be disapointed when thers none left.

3-0 out of 5 stars Monday's Child
I thought that Monday's Child was okay.It probably would have been easier to read if I had, had a dictionary near by me when I had read it.In most books I read I just kinda guessed what the meanings were of big words. They're weren't that many big words in past novels I had read, but in Monday's Child, it got really confusing. Don't get me wrong, it was a good book, a great plot, but I think I'm going to save the book Monday's Child, and reread it when I'm closer to a grown up.Maybe I'll understand the book easier when I'm older.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very wonderful book!

My wife is a fan of Linda Chaikin and this book is another enjoyable addition to the books she already has or has read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Excellent author, lovely story, very good experience in purchasing this produt. Book in excellent condition and seller was very prompt in getting it to me!! Overall experience was excellent!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Chaikin's best, but decent
I found the characters rather flat, even for romantic/historical fiction. The plot was slow and cumbersome. The questions being asked seemed repetitive, and the love story was frankly poorly done (I know Chaikin can do better!).

All that said, the ending had some excitement and a really delicious twist, so I'm dead-neutral on this book.Read it if you will.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great read by Linda Chaikin!
I've waited forever to read this book.It was well worth the wait!Romance, adventure... longing to bridge gaps in family relationships. I've read this book in a day! I couldn't put it down. I've really enjoyed the characters Trace Wilder and Savana Mackenzie. Savana is a British-Russian young woman who reluctantly becomes a spy "for the good of the British Empire." Trace has identities like:spy, soldier, ranch owner and ship's captain with the goal of seeing the Pacific Northwest have the Stars and Stripes flying over it.Savana is torn between her attraction and her loyalties and wants to meet her long-lost grandmother for the first time.Baron Peter Sarakof promises to reunite Savana and her grandmother, but at what cost? Trace finds himself fighting to protect a woman whose loyalites are questionable and knows that in his "business" that emotions could mean his downfall. It was a great book and I wasn't disappointed.I'm looking forward to see what Linda Chaikin has in store for us in the future!

4-0 out of 5 stars Exciting and adventurous!
Granted, it wasn't one of Linda's most exceptional books, but it was great all the same. Savana Rezanov Mackenzie is a Russian-British young woman who is totally loyal to her English heritage. Her family is wealthy andwell-to-do, but her Russian relatives have disowned her because of herBritish father, and she longs to be loved and accepted by her mother'sfamily, since she has no other. Caught up in the British-American fight forpower in the Northwest, Savana becomes a spy. Then, she meets TraceWilder...a dangerous American spy who has many disguises...soldier,rancher, sailor. Trace becomes her protector, but she is confused as to herloyalties. Should she do as she planned, and stay Trace's enemy, for acause she really doesn't believe in...or follow her heart and trust him?

You will enjoy the banter and romance so typical of Linda's books asSavana and Trace suspiciously travel on a contraband-holding ship...and thethrilling chase and action scenes at the countess's palace.Though itwasn't fabulous, I liked it a lot and I'd recommend it for a nice cozyfireside read, or when you're in the mood for romance and adventure. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Jade's Must Take Her Place
Jade with her sister and brother are searching for their father in Nevada. Jade a victim of TB is planning to settle near the claim of her father's and paint. She meets Roark Montgomery who is searching for her father to arrest him for a murder and crippling his father. Jade must conquer her inferiority complex and Roark must learn to forgive. Can they overcome their problems and have a future together? This book's outline is too much like Desert Rose.By Ruth Thompson author of"Natchez Above The River" and The Bluegrass Dream

5-0 out of 5 stars Warning
The other reviewers have said as much as I could say about how great this book is, but just a warning--if you already read or have Desert Rose by the same author, Nevada Jade is the same basic story, with different names. It isn't an exact copy; Desert Rose has been expanded and a some details changed, but for the most part the story is the same.Nevada Jade is still worth buying, though, just because Linda Chaikin is such a great author and tells a wonderful story.

5-0 out of 5 stars A book that would inspire you....
Wow! I really enjoyed this one of Linda Chaikin's first novels. It took me awhile to find it and purchase it but I think it was well worth the wait. This book is about a young woman named Jade travelling with her sister, Holly and brother, Shaun to Nevada in 1860 searching for their father, Thomas O'Neil. Jade O'Neil has had a long bout with sickness (tubercluosis) but is determined to settle in at their father's claim and make a living by the portraits she paints. Roark Montgomery is also looking for Thomas O'Neil but to bring him to justice for killing a man and crippling his father who was a well-respected surgeon. Jade and Roark meet as they both search for Thomas and Jade finds herself drawn to the lawman who has come to arrest her father. She also feels depressed about her long illness and was already hurt in her last courtship. She learns that the Lord has good plans for her despite her illness and that she is precious in His sight. Roark must struggle with the feelings of revenge and forgive the man who has shot and crippled his beloved father. A great story on love, forgiveness, romance and discovering one's worth to the Lord. I will read this one again and again.

This was a wonderful book. If you have read Linda's other novels and liked them, you will definately love this one. If you haven't I highly recommend it. Especially if you are into spies, intrigue, and mysteries!! :)...

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!! I couldn't wait to finish it!!!
This book is another great masterpiece by Linda Chaikin. Believe me you'll be surprised at some "interesting" things that Mrs. Chaikin puts in there. This is different than what she has done before but you'll be pleased at what she puts into the plots. Very well-written plot and unique characters. Paulette has far to go in the search for her missing husband. She forsakes all and places herself in God's hands to reunite with Garret. Her journey was remarkable and I was glad about how the story turns out. I hope Mrs. Chaikin would get an award for her A DAY TO REMEMBER series. This series deserves an award because you can tell that she researched this very carefully and they're not the same old plot with different characters all the time. I can't wait for "Friday's Child" to come out and I'll definitely read the whole series more than once!!! Great Job Mrs. Chaikin! God bless! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
I own the complete day to remember series.
And to me personaly Wednesday's Child is the best.
Honestly I have read it about 7 times and I still find it exciting. Well maybe the reason is because i know a guy just like the one described in this book (Kace)and he's so cute.
But beside that, this book has everything history, romance, crimes. I mean u name it its there. Out of all the books i've read This one is my favorite. I recommend it.Buy it.
Monday's child is my 2nd favorite if u dont have it buy them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
I think this book is great. It begins with Sharlotte Ashford, a nineteen year old debutante, who is on the verge of becoming engaged to another wealthy man. Then a man from her past resurfaces, and try as she may, she cannot shake him from her thoughts. She undergoes a transformation from high society, wealth, and lavishness to becoming a "western" girl and a true Godly woman. I would MOST definitely recommend this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding/Without Words
I cannot tell you how much I absolutely loved this book! Not only this book, but this SERIES is incredible.Chaikin does an outstanding job with character/plot development. In this book you see Sharlotte grow from an uppity spoiled rich girl to a girl with a heart.Normally, I do not care for American history based novels, but this was incredible.I do not have the words to say how good it was, other than READ THIS BOOK/SERIES!

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth the read!
In my opinion, "Wednesday's Child" is the best book in the series.Unlike the first two, which are set in Europe during WWII, this book takes place in America at the time of the Great Depression.Sharlotte, who is a Wednesday's Child, is introduced to the reader as a spoiled, flirting nineteen year old who is aware of her beauty, stable financial situation and social level, and her likely upcoming engagement to a wealthy, promising man.If you're hoping for some quick action, you won't be disappointed.A murder, a dashing rival from Sharlotte's past, and the stock market crash set the pace for an exciting book.Linda Chaikin also does a wonderful job bringing all the characters to life for the reader, as well as coming through with the Christian context expected.I found the characters easy to understand and relate to.The plot was very well developed, with an abundance of excitement and adventure.I was intrigued for the duration of the book!

Like another reviewer, I agree that "Gone with the Wind" and "the wild west" scenarios are reflected in "Wednesday's Child".This book is sure to delight many readers; thrilling and mysterious, romantic, historic- these all make an awesome book. It's definitely worth the 400+ page read!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A very good book
I liked this book, even though the story was a bit drier than some of Linda Chaikin's other books. The basic plot is about William Tyndale and the translation of the Bible into English so that everyone could read it, but Linda Chaikin also weaves in a bit of romance through fictional characters, which makes the history go down a bit easier. My only real complaint is about the cover art...the two people portrayed on the cover are sort of silly looking. But that's just my personal opinion.I highly recommmend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very inspiring!
This is a great story of brave men and women who risked their lives to give the English people the Bible in their own language. I found it very inspiring as a Christian, and I loved the way the book ends on Luther's great hymn. The plot is very well-written, as with all the Linda Chaikin books I have read. I highly recommend it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book! Very well researched of a terrifying era.
I enjoyed this book alot. Though this isn't my favourite Linda Chaikin book I still liked it alot. This book is about love for God's Word and between two lovers who risked their lives to translate the New Testament into English when it was forbidden. Justin Brice and Regina Redford are the main fiction characters along with non-fiction character William Tyndale. Justin is sent to Rome to ease the conscience of his sin-tormented father. While in Rome Justin discovers in his daily monk rituals that this is not the way to seek forgiveness for his sins and also dares to translate the Bible from Latin into English. He escapes Rome with his life and makes back to England...to Regina who is promised to a different man. The romance is not the main focus of the story but you will get a deeper appreciation for the people who had risked their lives to bring God's light into the dark world. Admidst betrayal, danger God remains the only true light. I suggest that you read this book so that you will know how it was like to live through that era. I will read it again because it is very well-worth reading more than once.

5-0 out of 5 stars An engaging tale set in the American Old West...
I enjoyed this book alot. I really like how Linda Chaikin sets up her story in the historical setting of the silver boom in Virginia City. She really did her research on this time period. The characters Rick Delance and Callie Halliday were engaging and lively characters. I admit that I fell in love with the cocky handsome gunfighter because even though Rick was set on avenging his family's deaths, his faith in the Lord was just below the surface. Will he be able to set aside his desire for revenge? He was an awesome example of a manly hero.Callie Halliday is the beautiful actress who is determined to make it in the theater world of Broadway with the handsome Ashe Perry. After a year of performances in San Francisco, she returns to Virginia City, Nevada to perform in the new theater and to get engaged to her leading man. What she didn't count on were bizarre incidents in which in one she narrowly escapes death...and her renewed attraction to Rick Delance, who was clearly, she thought, was out of her bounds. Her uncle is also insisting that the man she is thinking of marrying was not a Christian. Yet in spite of everything, Callie is determined to make her dreams come true. What will it take for her to realize God's plan for her? Will love shine in the darkness?

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh, I love this book!
Okay, so I liked Desert Rose a little bit better than Desert Star, just because it was a little more romantic, but Desert Star is so great.I'll read anything by Linda Chaikin, because her heroes are so strong and manly and romantic.Desert Star is a little different from most of her books, in that the main characters aren't both strong Christians, but rather are lapsed in their faith and struggling against that.I liked it, though, because I could relate a little bit more to Callie than to a lot of her heroines who are really strong Christians and have it all figured out already.Anyway, I really love this book, and would recommend it, and Desert Rose, the first in this series, very highly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth Reading
As always, any book by Linda Chaikin is worth reading at least twice.I liked this book, but I only gave it 4 stars b/c at the end the love connection happens a little to quickly for my taste. You wait the whole book for the 2 main characters to get together and then they are like...Oh I love you & I love you all of the sudden. It just happened funny. But, it was a great book and I love reading anything that Linda Chaikin writes. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent despite the horrendous cover
Oh, come on, the woman's face looks positively all sort of off!Anyways, that aside, this is a good book. It's well written, (only one minor continuity error) the dialogue's believeable. The characterization is good.Yes, the character of Ember Ridgeway is a mite frustrating at times, but heck, she's a spoiled little rich kid fer cryin' out loud. The plot's decent, though one romantic subplot is totally predictable.

5-0 out of 5 stars A riveting story about revenge and the love of God.
I loved this book! This definitely deserves 5 stars!! I wasn't disappointed in this book. Ember Ridgeway is a spoiled niece of railroad tycoon Mack Ridgeway. Orphaned at a young age and surrounded by luxury, but also with a loneliness that cannot by filled by anyone. Then Tavish Wilder comes into her life and Ember's desires became the things that her uncle's money can't buy. Tavish has an ambition to rise to the top to take on the Ridgeways. Tavish also has a vengeful agenda: to bring to justice the people responsible for his father's death and for stealing his land. But when Ember falls for him, he is torn between revenge and winning Ember's trust and love. A great story on the time of Indian wars, claim disputes, revenge, love and forgiveness in the lovely and rugged Pacific Northwest. This book was well-written on how God's love and grace could help you forgive your enemies. I definitely will read this book more than once. This book deserved the Angel Award of Excellence!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Linda Chaikin's best
Linda Chaikin is my favorite author, but this is definitely not her bestbook. It is pretty boring, and the characters are frustrating. If youread this book, don't decide to not read her other books!Monday's Childand Tuesday's Child are far better. So is Arabian Winds, Lions of theDesert, and Valiant Hearts.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, entertaining and insightful.
This is another fantastic book from Ms Chaikin. As an Australian, I found the history interesting and easy to read, while enjoying the exciting adventures of Tavish Wilder. The romance between Tavish and Ember Ridgewayadded an extra touch that complemented the christian ideals portrayed.Another Winner!

4-0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER CHAIKEN MASTERPIECE

After awhile I had nothing else to read; then, I reluctantly pickedup the book again. Surprisingly enough, I loved it all by the time Ifinished.
