Perfect Dark Fantasy Romance....I Loved It!!!
terrific romantic fantasy
True Dark Fantasy gets no better than this! Conar's evil twin, Galen, wanted Conar dead and Liza by his side. Knowing this, the Domination planned to use Galen as a way to force Conar into returning to the Great Abbey of the Domination - from where he had escaped just before the age of thirteen. The sorcerer known as Kaileel Tohre had always had a dark fascination with Conar. He wanted Conar the same way Liza did, as mate. To save Liza, Conar would return to the Domination and complete the Rite of Passage to become "One of the Chosen". Then he would go through the Final Rite of Consecration. If Conar lived through it, he would BE "The Chosen One of the Chosen"! Conar would possess the combined power of the White and the Black Paths. The battle between good and evil continues! ***** RATED R for dark fantasy scenes and violence. No one under the age of 17 should read this series! Now that I have stated that, if you like your fantasy novels to be "anything goes", then this author should be on the top of your Favorites list. I never knew what would happen next and often it was the worst thing possible. It kept my on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end and hungry for the next book! True Dark Fantasy gets no better than this! ***** Reviewed by Detra Fitch.
Fabulous! Very highly recommended The three thieves thought him an easy mark, little suspecting that the intended victim was Prince Conar Alexsandro McGregor. Conar would have fairly beaten all three of them in a fair fight if the innkeeper hadn't arrived at an inopportune moment. But help quickly arrived from a most unexpected direction. Concealed in the loft, a mysterious stranger leaps to the Prince's aid, showing deft proficiency with weapons. But this was no ordinary weapons expert. Indeed, when the expert of blade and crossbow is revealed to be a woman, Conar is astonished. His rescuer only gives the name Liza, refusing to reveal her surname, heritage, country or past. As they journey together, Conar falls madly in love with the mysterious beauty. But he has been pledged to another since birth. It was the deceased Queen's wish that he marry Princess Anya of Oceania as her parents were close friends to herself and the King. Conar has refused to journey to meet his intended, relying on another's account of the young woman, who has been described as a limping toad -- certainly no comparison to the mysterious Liza. And so a promise is made, that while on their journey, they might be together. And when the journey ends, so does the romance. But a heart is a delicate thing, and not likely to give up that which it loves. Beneath the surface of Boyett-Compo's romance runs a tantalizingly evil subplot. Conar, without full memory of his past, has fallen victim to the evil Brotherhood of the Dominion, a sinister sect of warrior priests dedicated to the erudition of free thought and the enslavement of humanity. A vicious and cruel sect, the Domination is led by Kaileel Tohre, a priest who intends to control the prince and has sorely underestimated the adversary he faces with Liza. A rich and complex weave of adventure, romance, and fantasy, WINDKEEPER is an extraordinary tale with great promise of powerful sequels. As readers have come to expect, both humor and grace are well balanced in this tantalizing novel. Indeed, move over Robert Jordan, for you have competition. With the depth of characterization so easily penned by Boyett-Compo, these characters live long in the readers memory, demanding the story continue. This reviewer not only very highly recommends WINDKEEPER, but wishes the sequel were ready now! ... Read more |

She Gets Better Every Time
Very highly recommended Conar holds a long denied appointment with destiny. As a child, Conar fell victim to the Brotherhood of the Domination, those who would use his throne to serve their needs. In WINDSEEKER, the Dominion uses his brother Galen and wife Liza to lure Conar into their evil clutches, intending to complete the rites begun when Conar was a boy. In those early days, Conar was victim of the evil priest's desires and lusts. When he came home to his father's palace, his spirit was broken, he was ashamed to live, and tried to commit suicide. Nevertheless, the much-scarred boy survived to become a devoted, loving man and future king. No man goes to the Great Abbey unless he seeks the Rites of Passage into the Order of Dominion, but when Dominion kidnaps Liza with Galen's aid, Conar risks his very soul to rescue her. Conar knows that the Dominion may allow him to go back to to his father's kingdom, even sit upon the throne of his homeland, but They would rule him; They would control who and what he was. He also knew the Dominion might even allow him to keep Liza at his side, but it won't matter. After the Rites of Passage, he will be One of Them, and Liza would be lost to him forever. The Dominion strives to posses Conar because of his special gifts; that is, he will have the combined power of The White and The Black Paths. Once again Boyett-Compo weaves a fascinating tale of love, betrayal and passion; one that holds the reader rapt, praying for a glorious hero's survival and mourning the damage inflicted by evil. As Boyett-Compo's Wind Legends saga continues to develop its mythos, the extraordinary power of the tale leaves the reader enthralled, appalled, and desperate for more. Combining the Brotherhood of the Dominion with its counter-group, the Sisters of the Multitude, Boyett-Compo delivers richly varied characters of depth and power. I for one look forward to learning more of the mysterious sisters and of the gifts Liza keeps hidden. Hurry, Charlie, I can't wait for book three! Very highly recommended. ... Read more |

An Unholy Love!!! Lauren Fowler is in her forties, plain and somewhat mousey. She has never known love, not from her parents or from anyone in the town in which she lives. She has no friends and is somewhat tormented at work. She is constantly overlooked and is utterly alone. One night, her desolate cries of anguish are heard and are about to be answered. Syntian Cree, a NightWind Demon, hears her cry.It is different from all the rest and he centers in on it, instinctively knowing that Lauren is different. She is meant to be his and his alone. He rises out of Hell's own pit, bent on claiming her. As soon as Lauren encounters Syn, life begins to change for her.He is alluring and seductive. With his charm and handsomeness, he easily sweeps the lonely Lauren off of her feet. She cannot prevent herself from falling madly in love with him.But there is a chilling side to Syn one which she does not see.Bad things happen to those who hurt Lauren . . . This is an incredibly written story filled with love, sadness and betrayal. The ending totally left me stunned. I would recommend this book to all who love paranormal romances. If I could change one thing, though, it would be the ending. No!I won't give anything away but for me, Syntian Cree was the ideal "dark" hero. I know there are those out there who would totally disagree with me but I (like Lauren) grew to love Syntian Cree.Despite his chilling wickedness, I didn't want his story to end in the manner in which it did.Despite this, NightWind was an incredible, chilling read. Highly Recommended!!
I very highly recomend this book
Very highly recommended At forty-six, Laureen Fowler had never been kissed, had never been on a date, had never had friends, and had never even been given a polite greeting by her neighbors. She was the target of disdain and cruelty at the bookstore where she worked and of her mother's cruelty outside of her job. In her loneliness and isolation she often cried herself to sleep, crying out to the universe her agony. She didn't know someone heard and answered. Syntian Cree, the NightWind, heard Laureen's call and takes vengeance on Laureen's oppressors. Under his loving attention, she grows into her full potential, becoming a strong, forceful, beautiful woman. Syn's victims lie damaged or dead, and Laureen is vindicated. She's also in love with a force she does not understand. And as powerful as he is, Syn is oath bound to another. Refusal to answer this other's call will cast him into the pits of the Abyss. Indeed, Laureen has many powerful, dangerous secrets to learn and battles to fight if she is to find the answers and results that she seeks. The first novel in the WindDemon Trilogy, NIGHTWIND Combines elements of the paranormal, including demonology, witchcraft, and the supernatural. Indeed, Boyette-Compo captures the very essence of what it is to be isolated, and the amazing transformative power of love and faith in one's self. NIGHTWIND is one of those gripping novels that shocks, horrifies, and mesmerizes the reader. The highly developed characters, the mythology that provides the foundation of the tale, and the deft plot twists and turns lead to a satisfying, though shocking, conclusion. This novel is a must read.
No go-away-closer escapade It takes off from there at a high pitch, nodull backstory warm ups, no interminabledescriptions of romanticlandscapes or gothically furnished drawing rooms, nor the usualcatalog ofcute quirky personality traits so common to the perky and spunky youngwomansetting off on a romantic go-away-closer escapade with dark andhandsome virile maledestiny. Not that Synthian Cree, the male interest, does not fit that description to a tee. But he's hardly Mr.Right. Indeed, potential male readers can rest assured that Nightwindis not a ladies book perse. It holds some shocking surprises. It couldhave benefited with is little more mundaneguy appeal. A little moremachinery or technology, maybe.Indeed there were two glaringlapses ofyour basic car knowledge that threatend to nosedive my suspended disbelief. Now,if Lauren could have been a shy female computer programmer or automechanic... This is a well crafted story and it's obvious thatCharlotte Boyett-Compo has done thissort of thing before. The plot iswell paced and structured. There is always some elementof troublebrewing for the heroine, pushing the reader on to the next chapter. Itslinear unfolding of events and graphic scenes would make it work well as ascreen play. Background information on the characters is inserted deftlywith short narrative summary instead of story-stopping flashbacks. Not apretty story, it's actually gets rather ghastly and gory, as Lauren moveson to her real destiny, with romance on the back, albeit hot, burner.
A Spellbinding Treasure Syntian Cree, a NightWind demon has come back to Earth. Thelonely and desolate cry of a woman has beckoned him once again. This timehe knew it was different, she was different than all the others before her.He was lost to her even before he arrived; she would be his and hisalone. Lauren Fowler is in her mid-forties and has never known love fromanyone, not even her parents. She is lonely and friendless, even in thetown she has lived all of her life. She does not know her cries have notonly been heard and answered, but also her life is about to change in a waythat she never could have imagined. Syntian sweeps Lauren off her feet, courting her in the old-fashioned way that befits a lady. Although strangethings have been happening since Syntian arrives in town, she neverquestions him and allows herself to fall deeply in love with him. So muchso that she agrees to become his wife, without knowing the truth behind himand what he is. This begins a story of love and heartbreak, betrayal anddeceit. The results will stun and shock you, leaving you speechless andwanting more, all at the same moment. ... Read more |

Timeless Tales 5 Star Review DarkWind, second book in the Demonwind Trilogy, by Charlotte Boyett-Compo, is an excellent read and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. This second book starts onboard the United Space Alliance Medivac ship where Dr. Caitlin Kelly is forced to tolerate an incompetent Captain Wellmeyer. With a crew that feels that Dr. Kelly was unfairly denied the command position of Captain, Caitlin finds it a little too easy to mock the captain and approach dangerously close to insubordination.
An Incredible Read: DarkWind-Book Two ofWindDemon Trilogy Simplifying greatly, as this novel opens, Khiershon Cree has a problem. "He was hanging spreadeagled from thick chains embedded in the cave walls, his feet barely touching the ground, his manacled writs flung wide to either side of his sagging head. His bare chest was a riot of star-shaped burns that glistened with each shallow breath he took. His black leather britches were torn at one thigh, ripped along one cuff." If being barely alive thanks to the attentions of the Amazeen isn't enough, he is a Reaper. He is the most wanted man in the universe as well as being a skilled assassin. Within his body, lurks a parasite that provides him extraordinary strength as well as healing abilities. In exchange, because of the parasite, he is part humanoid and part something that closely resembles a werewolf. The parasite, at times, demands of him that he must feed and during those times known as the "Transition" he is almost a mindless beast capable of incredible violence. The Amazeen were torturing him and planning to kill him because after being forced to do their bidding, they fear his as well as his son's existence. Unfortunately, for them, the warriors guarding the prisoner ingested Hemlock for some reason and had not managed to kill him first. His parasite allowed him to hang on, barely existing, for Dr. Caitlin Kelly and the crew of the United Space Alliance Medevac Ship, The Orion to find him. Despite dire warnings of doom from the last guard as she died, Dr. Kelly orders the prisoner to be cut down and brought aboard ship. All that come in contact with him, seem to be strangely attracted to him and this is just one of the puzzles the crew must unravel as they struggle to keep their patient alive. Slowly, the pieces begin to fit and the crew begins to understand who, or more importantly, what he is. Dr. Kelly is strongly attracted to Cree and he is as well to her, and their budding romance serves as a backdrop and motivation to save his life beyond the normal doctor/patient relationship. She helps him hide when the Amnazeen come looking for him but soon discovers that while she is deeply and surprisingly in love with Cree, he is something completely beyond her experience. At the same time, while Cree is a skilled assassin and warrior in his own right, the Amazeen are a powerful enemy. With possible links to the ancient race of Amazons on Earth, they believe the only good Reaper is a dead Reaper. The chase continues across star systems and planets as the Amazeen seek to find and destroy Cree and his bloodsons. Combining romance, science fiction, fantasy and other elements, this novel was simply a great read. The characters are complex and engaging with great writing as well as some humorous interjections and social commentary. This novel was extraordinary and simply a pleasure to read from start to finish. This is one novel, even if you are not a fan of fantasy, well worth the investment. Enjoy!
