1-0 out of 5 stars Boris Vallejo makes this book readable
Honestly, the cover is so fantastically campy that I had to read it. I found it while shelving books at the library where I work.

The story was not too painful, especially if you skim through it, and the Boris Vallejo illustrations sprinkled throughout the book were my reward for sludging through the text. They're kind of like the marshmallows in my Lucky Charms. Awesome. ... Read more

Product Description
"The year is 1294 - to Christians, 1877. Egypt's Pharaoh threatens war against Ethiopia's Empress and plans to embroil the New World in his cause. While the Northern colonists are subjects of the Pharaoh, Southern revolutionaries are loyal to the Empress." "Caught in the center of the storm is Kai ibn Rashid, married to the Empress's niece and lord of a vast Southern estate. A senator who only wants peace, Kai is opposed to the Pharaoh's war - a position that may cost him dearly, for assassins have targeted his family. Meanwhile, the New World's other major power, the unpredictable Zulu nation, has pressed Kai to accept their princess, the exquisite niece of Shaka Zulu, as his second wife. Tantalized by her beauty, Kai also fears that the princess is a spy with lethal plans." "Now in desperate need of help, Kai summons a childhood friend, the freed slave Aidan O'Dere, to go on a deadly mission. Aidan's reward is information to save his long-lost sister, Nessa, and safe passage home. Yet to succeed, Aidan must willingly submit himself to the greatest degradation he has ever known - the cruel yoke of slavery." With war looming and betrayal threatening on every side, failure will mean execution for Kai and Aidan. But will success cost even more? For by challenging the will of the Pharaoh, Kai could be signing his family's death warrants. And by aiding the South, Aidan could be keeping millions of whites in bondage. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars When Danger Comes Knocking
Actor and detective Tennyson Hardwick has solved two high-profile deaths in
Hollywood, but nothing has prepared him for a race to save a child's life. His
past in the sex game cost him his girlfriend, and he travels to Africa to try to
win her back. While in Africa he's hired as a bodyguard by superstar Sofia
Maitlin for her visit to an orphanage to adopt an African child. Months later,
Maitlin hires Tennyson as a bodyguard at her adopted daughter Nandi's birthday
party. When Nandi goes missing at the party, Tennyson is in for the race of his
life to save Nandi's life and bring her home safely to her parents. Not being
able to go to the police or FBI, Tennyson is left to his own tactics and the help
of his father, a retired LAPD captain, and a mysterious woman from his past,
Marsha, who has proven she can't be trusted. When his search for Nandi leads him
to a deadly African gang, Tennyson now realizes he is in a fight for his life.

With danger lurking around every corner, this suspenseful, action packed novel
is a page turner that is hard to put down. Use of the African culture paints
a clear picture, allowing the reader to be fully immersed in the culture of that
majestic country. With an intricate plot and well developed characters,
this novel is sure to please lovers of suspense. I was a little apprehensive
about reading this because I did not read the other two novels in the series but
I can say that I was not lost in the story and would recommend this book even if
you have not read the others.

3-0 out of 5 stars From Cape Town With Love: A Tennyson Hardwick Novel: A Review
Tennyson "Ten" Hardwick heads to South Africa to try and reconcile with his ex. He ends up becoming the bodyguard of actress Sophia Martin, who needs an escort to adopt a little girl, Nandi, from a Capetown orphanage. Months later, Sophia is married to a billionaire and they hire Ten again to watch over Nandi at her birthday party. When she's kidnapped during the event, Ten is fired, but he refuses to let go. Determined to find the truth andrescue the child, Ten soon finds himself tangled in a web of espionage, lies, and murder......with possible ties to the U.S. But as he tries to find out the truth , he may find that it's his own life that's at stake....

I wasn't impressed with the first book in the series and almost didn't read this one but I am glad I gave it a chance. The writing isn't the best that I've read but it's gotten much better and the story will hold your attention.I would read the next story in this series.

4-0 out of 5 stars 'Can you play the game or will the game play you...'
Tennyson Hardwick is a man of many dimensions, an actor, a detective, a lover, a friend, perhaps even a father.Battered and bruised mentally and physically, Tennyson travels to South Africa in an effort to win back his ex girlfriend April Forrest. While on this trip he happens to meet Sofia Maitlin and they request his services as her bodyguard while she visits orphanages in a quest to adopt an African child.

Tennyson is later approached by Sofia's camp to assist in security for her adopted daughter, Nandi's A-list celebrity birthday party.Which could prove to be beneficial with his attempt to network with Hollywood's cream of the crop.In the midst of the glitz and glamour, Nandi disappears and the nightmare begins as the kidnapping seems to be connected to a criminal gang with ties to South Africa.Plagued with guilt, Tennyson finds himself consumed with finding Nandi and bringing her back to her family safe and sound.Tennyson faces one of the most strenuous fights in this escapade as he tries to decipher who's really friend or foe, who's real or phony, as well as a lethal confrontation between him and a deadly knife fighter known as Spider.

From Cape Town With Love proved to be a masterfully penned novel overflowing with stimulating scenes that will keep the reader's attention and anticipation at an all time high. The suspense and mysteryheightens your interest as well as encompasses you within the perimeter of this graphically depicted tale.Tennyson Hardwick entertains the readers withintriguing, fascinating, as well as steamy scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat as you enjoy this thrilling ride! This is my first introduction to Tennyson and I must admit I won't soon forget this tenacious and brazen character with his charismatic intellect and swagga!4.38****

4-0 out of 5 stars Tennyson, my hero
Blair Underwood with the assistance of the husband and wife team, T. Due and S. Barnes sends the reader on an exciting adventure from Hollywood to South Africa and back to Hollywood.Based on the growing number of white celebrities who are adopting AA children, the writing team weaves a story of mystery and intrigue. As the hero, Tennyson Hardwick desparately searches for the kidnapped daugher of superstar, Sofia Maitlin. He is either hindered or helped by a long lost classmate who seems to know his every move, thought and action.
This novel was written as vividly that I felt like I was watching a movie. Not only were the characters well developed, but the scenery, sights nd sounds exemplifed. I felt as if I was about of all the action scenes, especially the ones at the end of the book.Hoepfully, there are more Tennyson Hardwich stories in the making.I have enjoyed all three so far.

2-0 out of 5 stars No Love For From Cape Town...
To say the least, I was very disappointed in this installment of the Tennyson Hardwick series. In the previous two books, Tennyson's character though flawed, was admirable as he struggled through the "growing up" process. In this installment Tennyson regressed into a made for t.v. caricature of Jason Bourne.I understand the goal the authors always had for Ten to be on the big screen, and wish them will with that endeavor, but I hate the richness of Ten's character had to be sacrificed.Honestly, I preferred the original Tennyson Hardwick as opposed to the next James Bond wannabe. My support of the series will continue with hopes of seeing the depth in plot and character found in "Casanegra". ...
